So I love my country and I'm happy I love here but...what the crap is happening here? I mean everyone wants to come here to have a better life and freedom and whatever else they think will be better here but then they get here and everyone is feeling persecuted, feeling discriminated, feeling like now they are here they have a right to change everything and the way things are done here. When did the Land of the Free become the Free to Sue Over Anything That Bothers You. I mean do other countries have these same issues or do people just deal? Ok, let's agree to disagree and move on with our lives.

I feel your pain, I really do.

IMHO, we need to seal the borders against anyone coming into the country illegally. If you really want to start a life here, do it legally and through proper channels.

And send the ones that snuck in back where they came from.

Keep in mind that they have already committed a criminal act by sneaking in here.

And one last thing, this is an English Speaking Country.

If you want to live here, learn how to be fluent in the native language for Gods sake!

I agree with all of the above. I spent a week in Paris once and I was beginning to communicate in basic French by the time I left. So when I encounter someone who is living in my country and cannot speak a word of english, I find myself bewildered. I have no problem living in a melting pot nation as long as people from foreign nations want to properly intergrate. All peoples share common intelligence, creativity, and basic human values. New cultural perspectives can enrich a nation as long as it is not divided in the process. But at this point, my idealogy seems like just another vape dream.

A common sense immigration approach is what's needed. The U.S. already has a lot of unskilled and uneducated U.S. workers, adding illegal immigrants to the mix only creates a hostile atmosphere. After I got out of the Army, I worked as a construction worker pouring concrete and laying brick/block. Even back then, there was a huge number of laborers on site that couldn't speak basic English, they flat out refused to do so even if they could, this I know because I overheard one speaking with his girl friend on the phone in English, yet he acted as if he couldn't understand a simple request to measure the base block course and snap a chalk line for it.

The U.S. has given up on assimilation because mandating English classes for immigrants is now seen as an infringement of their rights of free speech. By canning the assimilation mandate, our country has basically created societies within a society with their own rules. I'm not speaking of culture, or different ways of communication, I'm speaking of creating a mindset that the immigrants ways are to be held above the overall societies ways, or else screams of racism occur. Racism is not demanding that a group of immigrants follow the laws and rules of the society they are now in. Racism is not expecting immigrants who have been in the country for 15 years to have a basic comprehension of English, both spoken and written.

Both sets of my Grandparents came from Norway, when they arrived on Ellis Island, they could speak a small amount of English. As they began their lives in America, they took pride in their new country and learned English at a conversational level. They had to because they wanted to become part of the bigger America that was now open to them. They assimilated but kept their culture. I don't see that happening with immigrants, illegal or otherwise nowadays. I see political interference and the promotion of victim mentality, which of course wins votes for politicians who supposedly champion the rights of illegal immigrants. Those same politicians would sell their own family's down the river for a few votes.

Agree with all the above. I spent a month in Spain and was almost fluent upon my return, and if I had stayed longer I would have been and would have wanted to be because that's the country in which I was choosing to live. Language isn't the main issue though. Our basic rights and freedoms now seem to be what people are using against us. They use their freedom of speech or right to equality to say that their lifestyle/needs/language/culture, and so on is being infringed upon so let's make a civil uproar about it.

The common sense factor is completely lost as well as our independence. We have soldiers fighting and losing their lives for our freedom and yet we keep giving ourselves over to China to the point where they practically own us. What happened to our self sufficiency? Why can't we take care of our own? Our own starving and homeless. Our veterans that don't get the medical or financial services they need.

And what power do we have? The suits hold the power and have no idea what the common man needs.

Ah, the old American Yankee Imperialist complaint. Times have changed a lot. America did start off as colonies, with all the barbarism of the times. Native Tribes were conquered. Bad stuff happened. That was then, now the chief complaint is centered around keeping America American. Radical fundamentalists don't give you the option in what to believe. Radical fundamentalists tell you to believe, or they kill you if you don't. ISIS/ISIL is a perfect example. The U.S. has a long, long way to go before that mentality takes over.

All governments are corrupt by their very nature, by the way the Italian, Cuban, Irish, and Colombian folks who came over to build the cities with the English, Scottish, Welsh, Polish, Russian, Greeks, Armenians, Swedes, Finns, Turks, Germans, Norwegians, Mexicans, Canadians, French, Basque, Romanians, and Slavs came over legally.

They built this country from the ground up. That's why it was termed the melting pot. Getting pissed about the past simply is getting pissed about the past. This is the here and now, not 200+ years ago.

Im from colombia and for the most part colombians dont come here to harvest tomatos for pennies so americans can get bargains at publix or costco, its those people i feel for.
Americans are a funny people, they blame others for their problems and fail to realize its their very own officials robbing them blind. Maybe in the past americans experienced real freedom, but now a days you guys have no idea what freedom is. Youre taxed for everything, you protect your rich, youre forced to feed and clothe your lazy, you even pay for whores to have a dozen children. Its a business in América, to be a degenerate. Then you wanna close the gates on the pour souls who come here to slave for pennies just so your dumbasses can live this pampered life you believe you deserve.
Ill tell you a little story so you can better grasp what im talking about. I had little problem becoming a citizen of america even as a convicted drug offender. How, you ask? What pisses me off is the whole welfare system. It's supposed to be to help give you a leg up, etc. It's not supposed to be a fuckin lifestyle. Now we have multiple generations of welfare families that continue to leech off of the middle class. I say give them some money for the first kid, dont give a dime more if they have more than one, free surgery to get their tubes tied, and bonus money if they get their tubes tied before they have the first kid. If they're able bodied, they gotta do some community service to get their assistance; toss in some free vo-tech classes; and cut off the welfare a year after they complete their course training.

While I don't agree that people are entering the country to gain access to our sweet sweet freebie system, I do believe that freebies are way too readily available to those not working for them. Those same aid packages given to the unemployed/destitute folks to afford free rent, food, utilities are conspicuously difficult for working people, who really need the help, to maintain their life. I'm mad, I suppose, at the system of distribution and overreaching corporate /government entities who control said distribution.

My great grandfather, on father's side, got here by being a stowaway on a ship. Once he got here, though, he went through all the proper channels. My other ancestors on father's side did everything by the book to get here. My ancestors on mother's side came here from Prussia and immediately started learning English, even using English in the home so that they'd be constantly practicing it and improving their language skills.

For people who are extremely disability I see no reason to complain but you get these addicts with nine kids with 8 different fathers that took off as soon as they got the chance.

Now there are 9 checks and food stamps coming in.

Plus in Baltimore (My hometown before moving down here) people were using drug addiction as a form of disability.

That makes a hell of a lot of sense.

Give an addict $800 a month for fee.

That way they can buy more illegal substances.

I've gotta believe that if the social nets that are in place now, were there then, then our folks would've taken advantage of them. I believe they worked really hard to make sure those nets would be in place so it wouldn't be so hard for those to come after. And as far as that sentiment goes,I feel like the folks already here, who've become accustomed to that aid, will ride that point till its dead.

I believe they worked really hard to make sure those nets would be in place so it wouldn't be so hard for those to come after. And as far as that sentiment goes,I feel like the folks already here, who've become accustomed to that aid, will ride that point till its dead.
So if aid is justified on the one end, how do you limit it I'm the other?

Amen! And actually parent their kids. Saw a thing earlier today about tweens shooting other tweens and using expensive handguns to do it. When I was a kid, parents would beat their kids' asses for even having something like that without parents' knowledge and also for not handling a gun responsibly. And how the fuck did the tweens even afford it? Drug dealing? If so, again, why the fuck wasn't there some parenting involved to prevent/stop it?

Watched a family pay for milk and stuff entirely with wic at a whole foods type place that has crazy stupid high prices.. waddle out to a brand new escalade.

I was doing LP from a place and had a 17 year old pull a loaded 9mm on us. We of course beat the living piss out of the kid while disarming him and handed him directly off to the cops. The next day the mother had the mother fucking NERVE to call and cuss me out for arresting her son and giving him to the cops.. never mind a minor having a firearm in the commission of a fucking crime, brandishing it.. she willingly bought it and gave it to him for him to carry. She did not think giving her wannabe gangster scumbag child would use it to assault mentally handicapped people, armed robbery and attempted murder.

That's true man. I stay home with the kids. My wife has a great job but we struggle. Could we get food stamps? Maybe, probly not, but her friend who made a lot less than she does at her old job could. So she quit. Talked the company into giving her unemployment so she does Jack shit all day every day and then yells at her husband for working too much/too hard (he installs/refurbishes wood floors 6-7 days a week) ppl
