Why is it that I can't vape in a restaurant here in Florida because it may offend someone, so some woman can sit with her dog chiuana at a table

Simple, there are more organizations out there looking out for the Chihuahua than are looking out for you . (Sad to say this isn't sarcasm)

Go to Germany. People bring their Schanauzers, Doberman's, Rottweliier's, and others to resteraunts, even 4 star Michelin restaurants. Vaping is still verboten, but sparking up a cigar while leaving is just fine.

Was at Golden Coral for my mother in law birthday today and there was some woman sitting there with a dog in her lap. She said the dog is a Emotional assistance dog. Im sorry, my feeling is that your dog offends me. I don't want to sit in a restaurant with a dog getting its hair in my food. If they're going to pass a rule that I can't vape, even though its legal in my area, then you need to pass a rule limiting the type of service dogs allowed. Its absolutely ridiculous that for a $35 fee, people can get a stupid certification to allow them to take their dog anywhere.

End Rant

I was working with hearing assistance dogs a few years back. They had to stay under the tables, or as near to that as possible. Part of how they were trained.

My Therapy dog, Jazz....This lady died the following day after this visit

She is allowed in schools, Hospitals (every unit), Nursing homes and many more places. But I would not take her into a place that serves food out of politeness and respect for others.

Except for real service dogs and the people that have an actual doctors certified need for them, the owners of what I call "Pocket Pooches" who paid their $35 for certification really piss me off.

For the hell of it, sometimes when I see these idiots with a dog the size of a rat with bow's in its hair and jewled collars peeking out of purses, I feel like going to the pound and getting a dog that looks like this...........................

Evil Uncles Dog.jpg

Pay the $35 for certification, let it roll around a pile of shit and go spend time in their place of work, bingo hall or where they go to lunch!

You can't vape because the scent may interfere with the waves of rosewater pouring off the gramma across the room.

So thats what that stench is, I always thought it came from a dead whore in the kitchen.

And Whiskey, I know you have legit dogs and they do help a lot of people so you know that this Mini Rant was not directed at your or your pooches and not at the folks you help!

no, it absolutely wasn't. I am a big supporter of therapy dogs and service dogs for the blind and hearing impaired. My father died of brain cancer and one of the things that really helped him in the end was a therapy dog that just cuddled with him. It's the people who have the pampered dogs in bows and carry them around in satchels everywhere they go. These people get certifications so that they can bring their PETS into establishments that dont allow animals. There is a major difference between a service dog and a Pet IMHO.

It was just annoying when my mother in law, who has cancer and has switched to vaping after 30 years of 2 packs a day, wanted to take a quick vape to ease the jitters and she couldn't. Meanwhile there was a 20 something woman two tables over with a dog, with a blinged out collar, sitting in her lap.

Just have a small dog whistle with you. The people won't hear it, but the dogs will start yapping like crazy. No real harm done, but might get the point across that pampered pooches don't belong in restaurants.

Another aspect of this, there is a difference between psychiatric service animals (such as used by persons with PTSD) and therapy/emotional support animals. Service animals are protected under the ADA and are allowed in all public buildings/areas; therapy & emotional support animals aren't protected under the ADA and are left up to the facility to decide whether to allow access.

My point exactly. To me, getting certification for a service animal should be much harder. It should require doctors notes and be specially trained animals. My whole point is that I am respectful and don't vape in restaurants and other public buildings because it might upset people, but these pampered pooches seem to be everywhere, especially here in south Florida with all the rich snobby people.

The people who do certify their small dogs so they can take them everywhere are abusing the system and make it more difficult for the people who really need a service animal like the blind, hearing impaired and people with ptsd

I would have argued with the rent o cop. If someone lights up thinking its ok, then he should go after them. That argument is invalidated by the scenario I can't drink bottled water in the mall cuz some idiot might think i'm drinking vodka and decide that they are going to get drunk at the mall.

I am not a dog person. I own parrots and some of them are free at all times. Anyone who knows me understands that I will refuse (rudely if necessary) dogs in my house. I do this for the safety of my birds. This being said, I never get offended by the small dog thing, But I do get amused by the small minds that carry them as a social statement.
As far as vaping in a restaurant, I can understand that as being prohibited. There's always a jerkoff somewhere that will abuse the privilege.

No. My birds stay in my living room. I vape in my dining area or office area. I make sure never to vape when my African Grey Timneh is on my shoulder for her nightly bonding time. She's 17 and like family.

My cat always got in my face when I vaped. Back when I smoked, he'd usually leave the room.

I'm going to be honest here.

I vape all day constantly, but when I'm eating at a restaurant, i dont want to smell vapor. I'm not sure why, i find it a bit offensive.

I work at a restaurant, and my owner says this is a vape friendly bar, yet I still go outside. I see the faces people make when they're seated next to a dude blowing massive clouds everywhere, i dont want to be that inconsiderate...

That's just me, I'm a tad strange.

Is it really so important for you to vape in crowded public spaces like a restaurant, OP? It's quite inconsiderate imposing your vapor clouds on people trying to enjoy a nice meal.

One of my cats used to try to "Play" with my vapor at first.

But she grew bored and is now back to ribbon.

Well for me, i won't vape anywhere cigarettes aren't allowed, my juice still contains nicotine, i sort of respect people's wish to not be around nicotine.

I'm going to a casino tomorrow, hopefully they allow vapes..

I don't vape in restaurants, this more more of a rant on the dog thing. My point was that my mother in law asked me if she was allowed to and i told her legally she could but most restaurants have their own policy against it. But there was a woman with her dog at the next table

I actually saw this thing about disabled people and their dogs, and a new thing called emotional support dog, apparently it's a thing.
I believe not all states do it, and the dog must be wearing some sort of ID like a blind persons dog.

I have no issues eith trained dogs.

Bring a pit, I'm a keep my eye on it and hand on my knife.
