I was wondering if there is a way to control the color of eJuice? Can food coloring be used?

It was just a thought. I've noticed a few juices that have color and wondered how they got that way.

I tried an eliquid with this blue coloring to it. It was ok but it felt weird to vape it. I won't be using it anymore and I certainly won't be buying any eliquid with food coloring in it. I don't think it really serves a beneficial purpose.

Some eliquids will naturally change color due to the flavor concentrates used.

In the US, there are only 7 FDA approved artificial colors available, and 6 of these are banned in European countries due to their health risks, 1 almost got banned in the US by the FDA. Several are linked to cancer in mice and rats, a few are linked to various diseases, and most are considered a hazerdous material when being transported in large volumes.

If you want to color your liquid, it would be best to track down a completely natural food coloring and research it to make sure it is safe for inhalation. ie, Beet juice for red, Carrot juice for orange, cocoa powder for brown.

This is mostly how our DIY flavors get colors and as a result, how the e-liquid gets color.

I appreciate the info. It sounds like something to avoid. Thanks!

Some people do dilutions of colors... like 1 part color in 15 parts PG. If you use just a drop of this, it is not the same as using a full drop of pure color. If you can find natural colors, this is of course the best solution.

I forgot to say that some natural colors can bring a flavor in the mix, so testing is necessary.

Even more simply than that, it's an "extra" ingredient that really isn't needed. We are trying to put less chemicals in our body, not more. It's probably not a good thing and as stated before, it can in some cases bring an unwanted flavor. So best to just stay away from it. That's how I've always looked at it :)

I agree. But, if someone want to do it, it's better to know the best practices.

True, people are always going to want to know exactly why something is the case. I guess this is just one of those that I just kinda used a common sense approach too. "Does it make it taste better?" No. "Do we know the exact health impact?" No. Not needed...case closed LOL

Well let's say I've seen enough from Dr F's research and the experience of myself and many people that I know to believe that no matter what the "final impact"...if it kills me, it'll be MUCH slower than if I had stayed smoking. I'll take my chances. Everything you read says less is better. 4 ingredients, PG/VG/Nic/Flavoring (ok multiple flavoring gives you more but you get the point). I personally don't see a need to make your eliquid aqua blue or red..or lime green..whatever. I switched to keep me from smoking. IMHO, the only "cool factor" that should possibly be involved in vaping should be the mods/equipment. If your eliquid needs to match your outfit for you to get satisfaction from vaping...just as if you can't be satisfied unless you're vaping 150 watts and blowing weather systems, maybe you aren't doing it for the RIGHT reasons :) Now with all that said, I'm nobody's boss. Knock yourself out doing whatever it is you want to do. But if you post a thread asking for advice, I'm gonna give it to you. It's up to you whether to like it/follow it or not.

The best vape is no vape :)

Healthwise, you are probably correct. I'm sure it will have SOME sort of impact. But I actually started vaping by accident. I enjoyed smoking and really wasn't looking to quit. I was curious about vaping and picked up an Ego and it was all over right then and there. I enjoy vaping and will probably always do it. It's cheaper, it tastes better and in my mind, it's better for me. It's also a heck of a hobby where I've met a lot of really great people. Just on those facts alone, it's improved my life and I have no wish to give it up :)

If you want your juice to have color, give it a week steep time and the natural colors of the the flavoring will shine through. Might not be the color you want, but it will have color.
