Well all I can say is... Its about fuckin time Brandon.

It seems the Americans have caught up to China and have finally come out with a board that matches the very best China has to offer. This will be Evolv's first firmware upgradable chip. From what I'm hearing this is a fully customizable chip.

I completely shit on the DNA40 because of its lack of punch and power. From what I can see - Evolv should be proud of this one. Game changer - Big time. Lets just hope its not plagued with any issues.

Someone on ecf said around the same price as the Yihi 350j chip.
well if thats the case, too bad so sad.

With how much people are loving the evic vt I see no reason to drop over $100 into a mod that may be outdated in 6 months. Granted it can do firmware updates, but that doesn't mean the board itself will even be capable of what someone dreams up in the coming months

If you want to keep up with the trends and newest things, you have to keep buying mods. I do not have $100+ to spend everytime something new comes out

I have to agree with that. Working for a shop has shown me that mods come and go so fast it's ridiculous that anyone is buying these thing at the rate they do. I've been working in the industry for a year and a half, and I've seen it go from 20w, to 30w, to 50w and then it just exploded(no pun intended) and now we have 200w TC mods. This is all in a two year timespan. How are consumers supposed to keep up? The only reason it doesn't confuse the shit out of me is because I research it every single day but for a huge majority of vapers, this is just too much too fast.
We need to slow down the "innovation" and focus on what already exists.

To me i dont care about how fast it comes, just as long as china has a $50ish throw away version that works as good or better then the 100+ priced mods.

I was going to buy an ipv4 but it looked cheap to me, and then Id have to invest in batteries and a charger. Then I was going to get an sx m class, but decided I was insane to spend 200 on a mod that would be out of date in less then a year. SO to solve the problem of my istick 30w not lasting me a day, I got another one for now. Course 2 weeks later the reviews of the evic vt are in and I am wishing I would have got that. But meh, the price will drop more and in a few more weeks and who knows by the time i decide i need a new mod to replace one or both isticks, there will be something even better available for the same price

i hope theres no screen glitches :):)
This new chip from evolv has upgradable firmware so any or most issue's I think it could be a fixed with a patch. I will be following this chip rollout carefully If works as intended I will get one. I just don't like the fact it requires a lipo pack or 3 x 18650's to big IMO. Maybe if they can make a modular mod like the newer hana's but in a better form factor that would be neat. I will never use 200 watts, Id be happy with a 120 watt device.

This all reminds me of the digital camera megapixel race that exploded a few years back. Most enthusiasts (and even pros) won't fully utilize the 36+ megapixels that are out in the market but canon and Nikon keep putting out these monster MP cameras and we keep eating it up.

I'm waiting for an affordable digital back for my Hasselblad 500 C/M

Chip won't be officially released until this Friday at the earliest. I pre ordered the Opus with anticipation of receiving this week but after talking to Roger (owner of Opus ) he said that Brandon ( Evolv ) isn't launching chip as soon as everyone anticipated. Lots of mod companies already have the chips but can't sell any mods until the release.

Thanks saltlide for the update.

My main concern with evolv....?
does the shit work?
They have a ways to go to fix the vaping community's trust in them. The rollout of dna40 didn't help evolv's reputation.

All of my opus' from years ago still function flawlessly. Im sure there will be a few bugs but if you just vape normally and don't try to push this chip yo its limits on a daily basis you'll be fine.

And the DNA40 screen garble issue still isn't fixed almost a year later.

This is why people are asking, lol.

Oh can't say that i know anyone who had that problem. I couldn't justify the cost of a new mod for just 10 watts. If i wanted or needed 10 watts more i probably wanted more anyway and at that point i had ipv3... bmi ...etc

My Opus 200 should be getting shipped out this Wednesday. Chip release was held back a little longer for a firmware update i believe.

wow, that's pretty fuckin awesome. You're probably one of the first people to own one that's not a "professional reviewer". Congrats man! How does it vape?
First batch of pre orders shipped out this past Tuesday. Its awesome. Too many option settings to go through in a days time. Ive been playing around with it trying to get it perfect. Almost got it.

Did they fix the 510/LiPo pack issue on the release version? The beta ones had the 510 pushing up against the top of the battery with the wire practically poking into the pack.

Do not open the lid to your Opus. Doing so will void factory warranty. There are no user serviceable parts inside.

thast direct from opus website

SO let me get this straight, you spend how much on a mod that you can't change the battery?

And why does it say its only 1k mah. Seems like that is a typo or something.

Yes. Wires are routed nicely with no touching.

For this to be of any value, the company that releases the patches should be able to fix the issues. Evolv has consistently shown that they can't code their way out of a wet paper bag. What good would patches from them be?

Either they open-source the firmware's code (not bloody likely) or, as @Maverik_X said, I'll wait 6 months and let someone else be their beta-test whore.

To me it just seems silly to buy an expensive mod $150+ and not be able to replace its battery. But that is me. Those with more disposable income may have no issues.

I would just think that companies like opus, would offer a battery replacement, either by them or by the user for mods like this

it's riptrippers. Enough said.

I guess I haven't been in the you tube review scene long enough to know why everybody hates this dude so much but whatever..

As far as the mod goes I would like the extra wattage but I think the price would be an issue it just seems a bit much but we shall see how it goes with a little time, after 200 for my dna40 it might be a while, the battery thing is a bit annoying but whatever I see it lasting quite some time before needing to be serviced but still would be nice to be changeable

Since Friday I've charged it once. Been chain vaping a flavor build of .95 at 40 watts. It does drain quick off the start going from 12.6 to 11.8 or so. Then it holds steady around 11.8 to 11.5 before going down any more. Thats with the occasional 100 to 200 watt hits every now and then. Im overall satisfied with it. Haven't played around with the online software that Evolv has but basic functions on the box are easy enough to grasp.

Opinion is divided on Rip Trippers: I'd say half of vapeland hates him, the other half doesn't, but most everybody agrees that his antics get tiring very quickly.
I think hate is a strong word but I agree that he can be a bit annoying. I try to watch his vids and take what he says with a grain of salt but it's hard to sit through 20 minutes of cutscenes, silly antics and beard. It literally makes me Ill as mammaries...
I usually skip through all of the FaceTime and just watch the closeups.
with that said,I have learned from him and made some gear decisions based partially from his reviews.

On a side note, has anyone noticed how bloodshot and glossy his eyes have been in some of his recent vids?
