Your Most Annoying Build?

The RDA or RBA or RTA that you really wanted to chuck as far away as you could, but didn't...

1. The Yi Loon Fogger RTA: I built it six times. The seventh time worked, but not like I wanted it to. I'm not done with it yet!!

2. The Geyser RDA: very narrow areas to build on...teaches me to inspect the device carefully and consider it prior to beginning a build. I've spent a couple hours messing with it. I'm not done with this one either!!

Seems the most exasperating devices are the ones I stubbornly refuse to give up on!

I'll agree with you on the Fogger. I have a v4, and it took a while for get it wicked where it wouldn't flood. I just bought two v5 Foggers, and it took about a dozen builds on it to get the wicking right. It still weeps out the air holes for a moment or two after refilling, but will settle in and vape like crazy after that.
I know they're a royal pain, but the flavor is off the charts, and worth it in the end.

Anything vertical. My spatial IQ bottomlines when I have to configure a coil vertically.

Any dual-coil nickel build on any atomizer. TC on dual coil builds ends up being hit-and-miss for me...

As for the Subtank Mini RBA without holes, well... that's what drills are for :)

Surprisngly, I had good luck with dual coil Ni200 28 gauge on my Hobo RDA and on my Derringer RDA. I did about 13 wraps on a 3mm screwdriver. Both RDAs read from 0.11 to 0.15 ohms. And both chuck clouds.
The test is when the post screws are tightened down...Very carefully!!
I bought some Ni200 tempered 26 gauge (costs about 6 times as much as non tempered) but haven't built a successful deck with it yet...wasted some on my Geyser (built four 3mm coils then realized needed to wrap closer to 2mm for coils to fit...and I think I burned some on my Kennedy).
Note on the Kennedy: I'm planning to plug one side and use it as a single coil deck. This will solve the problem of juice spilled everywhere.
AND...one last observation:
BEFORE building a deck, sit back and consider the deck. Think about the build before jumping in. YouTube tutorials don't have all the answers, so rely on close observation and planning. That was my mistake on the Geyser and Kennedy...jumping into it without careful scrutiny beforehand.

Has to be the eGrip RBA deck. Tiny, Tiny freaking thing. Managed to get the wraps down to get 1.2 Ohms, but still, that thing is so freaking tiny, I needed to use tweezers to insert the coils with 28 gauge. I'd rather rebuild my diver.

This one I made for me:

The Fogger V4.1 has a 6ml juice capacity, and yet the deck is comparatively small. Poorly thought-out RTA...but I might change my mind after I build it again, and IF the flavor is as good as some claim.
BUT...I plan to modify it to a single coil deck.

Out of all the Foggers v4 and beyond, the v4.1 seems to have the worst reputation from what I've read. I've heard mixed reviews on the v6, but haven't tried one of those yet.

Here is the new and updated Fogger V5! The new updates from Fogger V4 to Fogger V5 are: deck change for easier builds, top filling instead of bottom filling, a rubber stopper behind the airflow ring to keep it from moving so easily. It features 4 juice channels as well as dual coil capability. The unit itself is completely made of stainless steel with a pyrex glass tank. The contact pin is made out of copper for minimum voltage drop. The pin is also adjustable so it can sit flush with many of your devices. The Fogger V5 can hold up to about 5ml of liquid as well.
Aesthetically, it shares some simlarities with the Fogger 4.1, however they are far from identical. Some improvements include the Push Button Posts. No more need for screwdrivers or allen keys, all you have to do is push down on the posts and feed your wire through the holes and release. Another improvement is the newly apapted top fill hole. Simply remove the top cap and fill! No need to remove the entire tank from your mod anymore. Upgraded airflow control to improve on issues with previous versions. The Fogger V5 is definately an atty you'll want in your collection.

Yeah, no one bothers with the spring push button posts, they give you the screws to replace them. Mine didn't even have them installed.

not to mention it holds no juice to speak of.....that's why I've never got an in'ax 1.5 ml tank....although I hear there is a 18mm in'ax that holds 2 ml

I heard of a Vaper who accidentally left his Fogger sitting on a restaurant table. He turned back to retrieve it, and there were TWO Foggers on the table.

One day, Yi Loong was bored.
"What can I do to annoy people?" he asked himself (he liked to annoy people when he was bored).
"I know," he thought. "I'll build a really annoying RTA," so that is what he did.
And thus, the FOGGER was born!!

Well, after working with the 3 I have, I've come to the conclusion that they work best with a minimalist wicking approach. I cut my wick to where it's just a tad wider than the barrel that the chimney screws down on, and tease the ends into a pancake, then screw the chimney down on it. Then just gently spread the teased ends out along the sides, then prime it, fire it and assemble. It's a given that it will leak just a tad for the first couple of puffs, but once a good vacuum forms, it's fine.

I guess I can't complain too much, the last two I bought were only $12 a piece. FWIW, I won't be buying any more Foggers, too many other better tanks out there to choose from now.

I have a Lemo Drop (successfully and easily built, and works fine), an EHPro Mini Buddha (built it easily enough, as it is a single coil build...but need to change the juice...so its out of rotation at the moment), a Wotofo/A-Mod Aqua (haven't built it yet but it looks easy enough), and, of course, the dreaded YI LOONG FOGGER (which I WILL master...but not anytime soon).

Odysseus.
nr-r-nr and a pain in general to build. A build required all of those parts below to be disassembled.
Took a while but I got it to where it wouldn't leak and vaped fantastic compared to what was available at the time. My how hardware has changed.
Yeah, flossin with a provri v1 and a rebuildable back in the day lol.

I was close to buying a cheap kodak camera to gut and convert the flash to a welder and then the kayfun came out. Vape and looks were not as nice as the Oddy, but it didn't leak and was a breeze to build.
I still have 2 that have been collecting dust for the past 4 or whatever it's been years.
I don't miss it lol

Lol, yeah, it looked a little fiddly from the youtube's that I watched when I was thinking about it.
Kudos to you for trying it out, I just stuck to wrapping the wires together. After a while you could eyeball how long the wires had to be to hit the right resistance but man what a pain in the arse build.

I don't miss it... imagine if someone busted out a arctic or kanger sub tank back then... whaaattt????? Gimmie!!!!

SO much this!!!!!^^^^^^
I spent an hour and a half yesterday planning out a build.
between atty design, juice viscosity, nic content, wick material,preferred/optimal power range, wire composition, wire guage, coil diameter, coil width, surface area and heat distribution, there is a LOT to take into account to achieve an optimal vape even on a standard single coil.
sure, you can grab some wire, start twisting and it'll work but chances are it could be a whole lot better if you take some time to plan it out.

My most annoying build so far has been trying to stuff a 24g vertical paralell and cotton into a kanger OCC head. It's also been the best coil I've used in a subtank mini. I still use it from time to time but dread re-wicking it.o_O

Here's an interesting vertical build for $11.99 plus free shipping from a top seller on eBay (only one left). Paste the following into eBay to find it:
Nucleus Atomizer RBA RDA Rebuildable Vaporizer

Interesting indeed!
A little modification and that could be a serious fog machine.
imagine this. A quad coil setup with the lower two being horizontal infront of the airholes and the top two vertical aimed at the 510 hole and over wrap the top coils with wick to chanel all of the airflow through the verts.

I might snag one just to try that build.
Let me get a few more beers in me and I'll let you know if I pull the trigger....:D

Dont know what it is. A friend gave it to me it has no markings or engravings and it is hiddious. If it wasnt full of juice id show you the shotty machine work and center post has no hole neg post does though... Trying to get my micro clapton on there is a pain since the screw heads arent very wide and the wick channels are half assed wich makes wicking mildly irratating when screwing the dome on. Cant wait till the lemo drop comes in! As for now ill just enjoy my drippers

My most annoying build?

The next one!

With poor eyesight, and large hands and fingers combined with the fact that I fell and dislocated every single finger in my dominant hand a few years back and poor hand-eye coordination to begin with, watching me wrap a coil and install it can be quite painful.

But in the end, I do manage beautiful results!

26g spiderwire titanium. I tried to rebuild my subtank stock coil with that and its so springy I failed! I never fail at building I was so mad. I just went to my normal 26g ni200 after a hour of trying. 24g ti is better FYI

If you use subtank stock coils and temp control mods I'll rebuild your coils with some 26g or 28g like stock. If you have like 10+ it would be worth it I'm guessing. No charge.

That is way, Way kind of you good sir!

And I truly appreciate your kind offer, I truly do!

And once accumulate 10 + OCC coils and if I fail in my efforts to build them, I will be in contact with you!

I am still on OCC head #1 and I took that off to try the RBA head (which is working quite nicely and not as much of a E-Liquid whore than the OCC heads).

And I can actually wrap a Beautiful coil and wick assembly and install them in whatever RTA I am using at the moment.

But it is a painful process to watch and most likely takes me more time to do than anyone else here.

Kinda like masturbating with a cheese grater, extremely painful but always interesting to watch!

But again, I thank you for your more than kind offer to help!

And when I get to the point of trying to rebuild Kanger ST OCC heads and fail, I will most certainly take you off on your most generous offer:D

I bought some tempered 26awg Ni200 but it reads too low for dual coil builds so I use my untempered 28awg Ni200 for dual coils. I'm thinking of buying some tempered 30awg Ni200...

All variations of the lemo suffer from this.
the best way I've found to get them apart is with a couple vape bands and a gentle wiggle and twist. I've had a couple that I thought were frozen for good and was ready to break out the vice grips but the vape bands did the trick.

I've set aside all my building until winter. I'm happy with my DeadModz built with tempered 26awg Ni200 wire. Single coil, with a small strip of clear packing tape pasted over the unused air slot. So, that saves me plenty of frustration by simply not building any of the many decks wanting to be built!

Lemo builds. So many people have such good luck with them, but I just couldn't get it right reliably. Actually, I should say I lost the ability to. My first few months went fine then one day I suddenly got dry hits on every build I tried. I'd be good for half a tank and then it would fall apart. I ended up selling both and buying a Subtank instead. Sure, I feel slightly defeated, but I don't buy tanks to fuss with, that's what drippers are for
