Long Time Cigarette cravings

My wife and I have been vaping for about 1 1/2 years. For me it was an instant
non smoking move. I guess I craved a cig a few times after about a month of vaping. That
didn't last more than 30 seconds and a couple hits off my vaporizer. When I think of
lighting up a smoke now it makes me laugh. The smell of a cig on someone is way grosser
than the cig itself. IMHO For my wife however the journey has not been quite as easy.
She was able to cut down drastically and after about 5 months became smoke free. So for
the last year although she hasn't smoked she frequently strongly craves one. I suggested
that if she upped her nic level she would not get the cravings. She wants to drop her nic
level. My wife has never been a deep inhaler and takes a light draw. When she turns a
spinner up above 3.8 she gets a hot burnt taste and coughs. I believe this because of the
low airflow over the coil. She does not particularly enjoy a strong throat hit. Because
the power is so low the amount of flavor she requires in her juice is very high and may
also be contributing to her coughing.
What I really am wondering is it typical for some vapors to continually crave a
smoke after such a long time. Is there some way to get more nic to her system without an
increase of power that makes her cough in fits. Has anybody encountered this problem and
or found a solution to it?

You DIY, right? My boyfriend LOVES FA Virginia with a touch of Black Fire. Virginia is too sweet for me as a tobacco. In the car the other night, I accidentally grabbed his vv3, took a long draw and would've sworn I'd just smoked a cigarette. I made the "oh gross, nasty!!" comments and face, he cracked up and said, 'Honey you did good on that one!

Maybe that would suit her?

2% FA Virginia
0.5% FA Black Fire

Heat steep or time steep, either one.

I'm nearly 2 years cig-free, and yes, I still get occasional but strong cravings. I wasn't a very heavy smoker, but I did smoke for decades. I've come to accept the cravings but refuse to give in to them.

This is what works for me: http://vapingunderground.com/threads/hics-light-american-cigarette-replacement.2927/
I make it with extra nic. Black Fire adds a realistic smoke flavor on the exhale. I don't like the "yellow/green" flavor or sweetness in Virginia, so I use more "brown" tobacco flavors than Huck's boyfriend - but notice we both use Black Fire. My cravings come without notice, so that's a shake and vape recipe. It keeps me from running to the corner market for a pack.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have to put in another order for fa flavors as the wife wants to try HIC's soar throat soother. So I will add flavors for the light american cig and get some virginia as well being as she hates american cigs only smoked canadian brands. It's worth a try. If she will vape the tobacco flavors I may look into some N.E.T. as well. She has never had tobacco flavor as she wanted to be as removed from the idea of smoking as possible. However she says now that if she had a cig in front of her she would light up. Good thing we live in the country and its 20 miles to the nearest store. Can't thank all of you enough. Will post back when we try this out.

I very rarely vape a tobacco, but find it handy to have stuff like it on hand. Beats smoking a cig. Grab sample sizes.
@Huckleberried Sure glad you mentioned that. I always forget and usually order 30ml sizes. Most of the juice I mix starts off as one of hic's recipes or from a thread here at VU and may get modified slightly from there. So I don't worry to much about having flavors that I'll never use. Between Flavor Art and the talented recipe creators that hang out here I have a hard time finding something that I don't like.

I have been vaping for 3 months (I have not smoked a cigarette since I started vaping) & I still crave cigarettes. Mostly after I eat and when I drink my morning coffee. I wish I had a useful suggestion but I have not found a solution yet. I just take a few BIG puffs on my vape & try to distract myself until the craving goes away. They usually only last a minute or 2.

I have not had a craving since I started vaping. I always hated the flavor of cigs, I am just addicted to nic. I still get the occasional nic fit, but nothing a few RDA or sub tank pulls doesn't deal with.

I enjoy the smells and flavors of vaping so much, I could never think about having a cig again, or even tobacco flavors.
