One thing that always puzzled me is the amount of vapers over the age of 30 on this forum, because never once had I seen an older adult vape until yesterday.

The reason I am suprised about seeing older vapers is because older adults generally tend to be conservative and dismiss things like vaping as opposed to smoking. My grandma smokes almost 3 packs a day and refuses to even try my vaporizer because its "bad for you". Yes, its probably bad for you, but definitely not nearly as bad as smoking.

Yesterday outside of a strip mall I saw a man in his mid 50s using a spinner and a protank. That was the first time I've ever seen anybody vape other than someone around my age (19). It surprised me a lot. And today, outside of work I saw my 60 year old coworker pull out a fancy mod. I dropped my jaw.

These have still been the only adults I've seen vape though. I saw my chain smoking uncle using a cig-alike once, but I'm not counting that because he gave it up after an hour.

Obviously, there's going to be older adults on this forum because they are out there somewhere and some must find their way to this forum, but I want to know how many adults age 30+ actually vape outside of this forum. Pure curiosity. I'm not being ignorant and assuming no older adults vape, I'm just wondering why I never see them.

I'll be 31 in July and been vaping for almost 2 years. It's a great alternative to smoking cigarettes and for us folks we like building shit lol

I'm still very weary on vaping in mass public though. Around where I am. Not many folks vape here. I think it's still a little too new for me to be blowing clouds all over the place. But yes to answer your question we do exist lol......maybe it's like seeing Bigfoot or nessy hahha

Us old people vape ninja style. You usually will not see us, and if you do see us you will not know what we are doing. We're so good you may not even see this post.

I'm 58, and have been vaping for over 2 years (the last few months in earnest). I vape at home and everywhere I go. I don't vape where smoking isn't allowed though, it's just not worth the trouble of possibly agitating Non-smoker who don't know any better.

The fact that you consider anyone over 30 an "older adult" is comical AND frightening to me. You think this is only for "kids?" Geeze dude....think outside the box....

I can't help but be reminded of when I was in a local shop and wanting to move away from the eGo/clearomizer setup. I started trying to chat up the clerk about mods and RBAs, and he said, "most older people prefer these", as he pointed to a box mod with a disposable eGo clearomizer on top. *banging head against wall* (the box mod, okay, but sticking with the eGo clearomizer?! *sigh*)

A couple of days later I ordered a kayfun lite clone and my first mech mod from AngelCigs, followed by a Veritas RDA that same day, and more goodies a few days later.

No! I don't call 30 year olds older adults. I'm just using that age to start with because I've never seen anyone above 30 vape til recently.

Seriously, I've been reading threads and posts all day about vape packaging appealing to minors, about our government trying to stop us because of "the children", and several other twisted mentalities where vaping is concerned - and here's a friggin post from a "youngin" who is shocked that all us old farts over the age of 30 are vaping.....smh.....

I'm 55 and I've walked into more than one vape shop full of cloud chasers all younger than my underwear and It feels like they think I want to look for an E-GO starter kit. I don't look cool and I don't look like I know where the hell I am at. Ah,...yeah. Let the fun begin! I start talkin coils and drippers, then mods and voltage drops, clone manufacturers, magnetic swithes, parallel vs serial battery arrays,...and usually I educate the sales clerk a little in the process! Then I usually buy some juice or something, turn my back, and grin all the way out the door. God that's fun!!! :D

My wife and I are into adoption,.....

I gotta admit, it is an interesting question. I've come across people my age and slightly older who are either scared of ecigs due to the false narrative that's been spread (such as the one about ecigs being more deadly than cigarettes), still not ready to switch because change scares 'em, or cant be bothered to expend the effort to learn about 'em. I'm sure the same holds true for younger people as well, but it'd be interesting to know the ratio.

I was 54 when I started vaping 7 months ago. I turned 55 soon after. I am not into E-Go kits. I have found my vaping dream in a Reo/Woodvil with a bottom fed atty. Love the Quasar, and the Derringer bottom fed attys. I hope to try other ones soon. The Woodvil is the ultimate vape in my opinion. I don't even bother going into the local shops anymore. They don't carry the things I LIKE.

I with GrayVaper on I don't look the part. But, before I leave they have been engaged in great discussions. I'm sure they didn't expect this 59 year old to understand the vaping community. Surprise

Yea, I got a Chalice III for my Woodville. Not a cloud buster, but the flavor is just off the charts with a .6 Ohm coil.

I know there must be a lot of people who vape. However, the only ones I have seen/observed locally are 16 year old children or mentally challenged folks. I have been vaping since 2010 and diy-ing since Dec 2010. A woman never brags about her age. If you really must know click on my profile. Hint: I'm older than 16.
Your profile is empty. So guessing would be wide scaled. 16 year old children and mentally challenged vapers?

Yes, the local kids seem to like vaping. I went into a vape shop and I walked out. Nothing more than a high school/middle school hang out. I have seen quite a few folks with mentation issues vape. There is nothing wrong with that btw. They are being turned on to vaping since obviously its safer. They are vaping in the grocery stores. However, most people are cool with it. I'm only describing what I have seen locally in good old WI.
Don't get me wrong I have nothing against those who are challenged in any way shape or form. It was just an odd pairing that was all. And for kids to be vaping in general is bad for us as a community

I just turned 47. Very soon, it will be 2 years since I quit smoking. I smoked longer than OP has lived.
You just made me feel old cause you made me realize that I was a smoker for more years than his life as well  :p
For the record I'm 47.....

Now can someone please tell me how to set the time on this thing so it stops flashing "12:00"?
a piece of electrical tape fixes that nicely :D

Although I don’t see them either, I would bet 50’s and 60’s would be the fasted growing demographic.

If they had a 401, it was decimated in 2008. And their home as a primary investment lost a lot of value. It is common they have an unemployed adult child living at home.
So they cannot retire, and cannot sell their home. They are stuck longer than expected in a workforce where they already face age discrimination. They don’t need smoker discrimination added to that. So they are likely secretly vaping in places you do not see them.

Really?????? Smoker discrimination's not the problem; it's vaper discrimination. I don't want to be associated with, or have anyone think I'm trying to emulate, most of the 20 y/o hipster vapers I've met, for whom, being seen is the most important thing they do.

I am 42 & I have only met one other person "in the wild" that vapes. It was a lady in her late 50's who started vaping to quit smoking cigarettes after being diagnosed with breast caner. She beat the cancer and still vapes.

I think people 40+ are going to be the biggest vaping market in the next couple years. "Most" smokers over 40 want to quit smoking because we are now seeing the effects of smoking cigarettes first hand. Our bodies are failing prematurely because of smoking and we are now seeing friends and family members die because of poor lifestyle choices. (Not just cigarettes) You can tell a 20 something that smoking cigarettes is bad all day long but it will not sink in because physically they still feel great. When you are over 40, your Family Doctor just read you the "Riot Act" and you can't go for a bike ride with your kids or run up a flight of stairs you see what those F-ing cigarettes have done to you on a personal level. Suddenly quitting smoking becomes VERY important and vaping starts looking like a very attractive option.
