You've quit smoking, but do you ever intend to quit vaping?

So I'm assuming many of you have successfuly quit smoking, but do you ever think you'll try to quit vaping?

Vaping is amazing because instead of having 4000 chemicals and 43 known carcinogens in it like analogs, there are only about four chemicals ( or more considering what the flavoring consists of) in ejuice. It's also a lot cheaper than smoking.

But vaping is still bad for you and it still costs money, and we can't ignore that just because it's only a fraction as harmful and costly as smoking.

I find vaping can be very enjoyable, but nicotine is not something you want in your body your entire life, and I'm sure some negative long term effects of inhaling perhaps vg, pg, flavoring, or particulates from wick/wire will arise in several decades.

I find it hard to imagine ever stopping since the only way I can quit smoking is to vape, and there are not really any healthier (and effective) alternatives to vaping. I think that I should try to quit someday though.

Now, don't take this thread as a dis to vaping. I know that it probably pisses vapers off just as much as smokers when you tell them they should quit and it's bad for them. I'm not telling any of you to quit; I'm only curious if any of you have considered giving it up in the future, or if you have tried.
Also, please excuse me if I am innacurate in terms of how many chemicals are in ejuice. I know there is water, pg, vg, nicotine, and flavoring, but I'll admit I have no idea what the flavors are made of. (I'd really like to know what's in the flavors if any of you know.) I am also considering any byproduct that may be inhaled when wick and wire are heated.

I think if I had to stop vaping I could stay away from cigarettes. However, building coils, mixing juices, etc gives me something to do with my unaccounted for spare time. Vaping probably keeps me away from the worse habits I had than smoking

For me, this has become more of a hobby than addiction. I never feel the "need" to vape. Building coils, testing out new mods, rda's, etc. I've cut back on the nicotine and quit dipping all together when I started vaping.

Right now I love vaping, so I don't see quitting it in the near future. I also love stealth vaping right next to someone and they have no idea ;)

Nope, I can't see myself quitting vaping.

Why should I deny myself what I consider a very low risk pleasure and stop participating in a hobby I love?

Still plan on dropping down to 0mg nic (I have gone from 36mg down to 6 at the moment) but I will still vape!

I go batshit without my nic. The thought of dropping to 0 is nice on the surface, but it's going to be a slow journey from 3mg to nothing... Considering that research indicates nicotine actually has a plethora of health benefits, maybe dropping to 0 isn't such a great idea after all.

Could you elaborate on these nic benefits and the source? All I can think of is nic being a bowel stimulant in terms of benefits.

Just google the phrase "nicotine benefits" and you'll find hours of enlightening information.

May enhance learning, treat Parkinson's, Schizophrenia, Alzheimer's, ADHD/ADD, Dementia, Depression, Diabetes related circulatory issues by promoting blood vessel growth...

...and on it goes.

Tobacco bad, nicotine good.

I have a very nice humidor that holds 120 cigars. It is currently stocked with about 30 cigars , five of which are genuine Cubans. I was smoking two full size 7" cigars per day. After years of smelling like smoke, ash falling on my clothes, and burn marks in my clothing I decided to try vaping. My wife was a pack a day smoker and vaping together has allowed her to quit. She likes her world of low wattage clearomizers and disposable wicks and coils. She sees a day when she will be through and will be free of all smoke and vapor. Her handful of gear will be retired and saved just in case.
For me, I'm in too deep to walk away. I have hundreds invested in mods and attys, I am building coils and troubleshooting my builds. I throughly enjoy creating a build and vaping on it. My next vaping chapter will be DYI juices. I vape 3% and 0% juice, nicotine doesn't matter that much to me.
For me, vaping is a hobby and a lifestyle.
As for the future of vaping? I doubt they'll outlaw an emerging multi-billion dollar industry that offers such a tantilizing tax base.

I quit smoking because my car smelled like a camels ass,i don't miss the cigs at all;; but, I do miss my Cohibas and Hoyo De Monterey though.
But, the Reaper will have to pry my mod from my cold dread hands.

I'm a bit skeptical of that but I'll check it out. Nicotine is a natural pesticide though. You have to watch out for research studies, because many are funded by large corporations and therefore falsified in order to benefit them. Tobacco sellers could have easily conducted that research you read. It's sad because science is an amazing system for identifying facts, but people abuse and manipulate it in order to get the facts their way.
Although, like I said I'll have to see this research for myself and find the sources.

I do know that things like caffine in coffee are just as addictive and perhaps just as bad as nicotine, but nobody realizes it because coffee has been such a regular part of our lives. So yes, I'll agree with you that it probably isn't too bad to be vaping 3mg the rest of your life, just like people will drink coffee every day. But I still need to know for sure whether or not light nicotine consumption is bad for you, so I will look at that research.

I'm one of those people that understand that words have meaning, and facts are really cool.
When I see a study that uses words like, "may" or " could". I immediately question the study. And just because a study is done by someone or some group with initials that doesn't mean anything either. I'm not saying the study us false by any means; but, the there are three FACTS that I do know of with nicotine.

1-The chemicals itself does constrict the blood vessels, cause increased heart rate and blood pressure
2-It ones have certain calming effect through the nervous system via depressing certain receptors in the brain(I'm too tired to look up which one)
3- I like it.

The healing or good properties are vastly less effective than the harmful ones, its just the case. My grandmother was fighting cancer for 25 years and one of the trial drugs would give her tremors, her oncologist told her to smoke 2 cigarettes a day to calm them ... and it did. Now take the amount of nicotine and figure out how that would translate to E-Liquid.

I reckon it would take a whole lot of facts with a whole lot of people I knew I could trust to ever say that its good for you. Jut cant see Flintstones adding it to their ingredients.

Haven't read the whole thread yet before responding, so forgive me if this has all been covered...

I liked smoking - I was genuinely a smoking enthusiast. It could have something to do with OCD or some other mental disorder, I don't know, but I had a devil-may-care attitude toward the habit, and I'm young enough (32 now, 30 when I quit) to not care about my future.

But I'm a father. I don't want to do anything to harm my little girl, and I want to be there when she graduates, (hopefully) goes to college and shows her old man up, falls in love, gets married, maybe has a grand kid or two...

I think vaping is a way to satisfy my natural desire to smoke in a healthier way. It's not perfect, but I'm only human and we're all either deeply flawed or in denial of that undeniable fact. So I'll vape instead of smoking because it's the best way I know of to occupy my idle time. Perhaps I'll tire of it, perhaps not. But for now I'm counting the cigarettes I choose not to smoke and the extra hours I have to be there for my family, and I'm not even remotely worried about the negative health effects of doing so.

Maybe vaping will turn out to be much worse than smoking in the long run. I seriously doubt that, but I'm wiilling to be the test case to find out, because it's not debatable that cigs killed both my grandmothers, one of my grandfathers, and they've just delivered a death sentence to my mom within the last few days that my family will now work to stave off as long as possible...

Tl;Dr: nope, no plans to quit.

After 40+ yrs of smoking,I will always need that hand to mouth-inhale exhale action to stay off cigs no matter how low I go on nic strength.

I quit smoking 4 years before I started vaping. Maybe not common, but i picked it up because i believed it to be safer. I have no intention of quitting.

I've been vaping for a bit over 3 years now. I mostly vape 0 nic juices unless I feel like a bit of TH and the taste of nic. It's become a hobby for me, I like to mix juice, build attys and explore new technology that interests me. I'll be vaping until I either feel some health effects or I lose interest which means I'll probably be vaping for at least a couple more years.

I liked smoking, I only quit as part of an attempt to get in better shape. I don't plan to quit vaping. Don't plan to go down to 0 nic either. Nicotine helps keep my anxiety in check (one of the reasons I liked smoking), resulting in me not loosing my temper and flipping out due to my ADHD.

I'm actually debating whether or not my decision to go from 6 to 3 nic at the start of the year was a good one since I am slowly feeling my anxiety building as the year progresses, I'm feeling more on edge despite good things happening recently. Finding myself trying to vape more often as a result and have dripped my older 6mg juice a few times recently.

I have no plans to stop vaping. Without it there is no way i could have quite smoking. I went from a pack to a pack qnd a half a day no zero cigarettes over night with the jelp of vaping. I have also dropped way down in the nic. Started at 12mg and now im at 2mg. Vaping for me has also become a hobby. Making coils and playing with my rda and sudtanks guve me somethi g to do in my down time.

Vaping got me off cigarettes. This forum got me off Facebook. Two bad habits broken because of vaping.
And I love tomatoes so even if I quit vaping I'm still getting nicotine.:p
I have no desire to live so long and get so old that I start getting smelly and annoying. Thanks to Monsanto and GMO's, even eating is dangerous. Thanks to business and industry, I'll never again breathe fresh air. And thanks to the almighty american justice system, more violent criminals are roaming the streets than ever before. So vaping may be "bad" for me years down the road?

Not a fan of that part. Do not think that has been proven once, or else all the lobbyists would have the ammo they need. Since they are still relying on misinformation, fear and ignorance, I would surmise that they don't have any hard evidence.

I enjoy nicotine for the reasons that people enjoy caffeine. Same level of risks and concerns.

The adolescent debate works as well as stopping them from having sex by banning kissing in public

They can find all the strawmen then like, and I will keep setting them ablaze

Happy Vaping !

I'll never smoke again, and I may quit vaping if price/regulation forces me, but I hope to continue using nicotine regularly. I keep an eye on the studies of nic as treatment for ADD, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, etc., and I use nic with those studies in mind. Kind of like some cardiac patients take an aspirin a day as a preventative.

I would probably quit if there was solid evidence that stated somehow the vaping led to paralyzing and grotesque side effects, other than that I'd be back dipping on my Cope Whiskey and smoking Djarum.

I am an addict.

I think what it comes down to is, everything is bad. Carbs are bad. Red meat is bad. Cigarettes, alcohol, vaping, etc. I don't want to live forever. I just want to get to a reasonable age without dying as painfully my grandfather did. Vaping seems to be that. So fuck it. Compared to some of the addictions I have or have had, vaping may as well be jogging

I never intended to quit smoking when I started vaping. It just happened. I don't have any plans to quit vaping but you never know. It could happen. Probably the single thing that would prevent me from quitting vaping would be the government telling me I have to.

my father died from lung cancer, his father from colon cancer (different cancer, but tells me that family is cancer-prone), I had horrible smoker's cough and knew I had to do something. Vaping worked. Without my nic I get full cray cray. I tell people that it keeps me from getting stabby (which is kinda true). So no, I don't see myself quitting vaping. Perhaps eventually, especially if the govt messes it all up and gives control of the liquids to big tobacco, but. . .
