Thanks cindycated, AmandaD and Mroutlaw. I'll email the store and ask if they can send a picture or tell me if I can pull the dripper tip off and get a syringe in that way. I guess it is what it is in the end and I'll make due... just trying to keep the DIY as KISS friendly as possible so wanted to visualize what I would need and how I was going to do it.

Anyways great thread... still trying to read it all.
Cheers
On eBay they sell those super duper long luer lock needles for filling ink cartridges. Maybe you can get ones that go all the way to the bottom of the bottle and just punch the needle right through the hole on the dropper.

Drew from Bull City suggested to put a blunt tip in the tip of the skinny topped ones, invert and draw. Made sense.

If it's the average size droppers, you can get a blunt tip through there, but if you lay the bottle on it's side for storage, it'll leak.

There's the dropper tip, then there's an external cap, right? Still leaks?
One thing that never worked for me was to insert a needle into the dropper tip hole then tip the bottle upside-down. Leave it to me to make a mess no matter how fool-proof it is! :p

Just a quick question: Does anyone know if a 1ml syringe can fit into the Ecigexpress.com 10ml bottles of FA easily?

I plan on ordering through them to Canada as it is a lot cheaper in the USA for flavours and just want to make sure I can get a syringe in there without making a mess. There is no pictures of what type of bottles the flavours actually ship in on their site, so it is hard for me to visualize. Or maybe there is a post on this site with a picture of their bottles that someone could point me to.
Cheers
The ecigexpress bottles use the needle nose dropper tips. A thin needle does go through but you will have to find long ones unless you want to turn the bottle upside down and have it drip all over. Easiest way I found was just pull the dropper tip off and insert the syringe into the bottle. They come off very easily and pop right back on with no leaking.

By the way, whatever you do do not pick the UPS shipping option to Canada. UPS hits you with a brokerage charge and all the taxes - cost me an extra $60 on my shipment. There go your savings! Regular mail takes longer but much fewer hassles and usually no tax. MamaJ's is only $10 for USPS shipping to Canada and you get an international discount. Their bottles are shorter, wider and use a fatter dropper tip that you also have to remove if you want to put a syringe into the bottle. Also no leaking if you pop the tip off and put it back on afterwards.

The bottles I've gotten from ECX don't have needle tips but my 1ml syringes do go into them. It's close, but they do.

Probably not now they've changed them to the little needle-nosed pointy bottles! But maybe someone has tried and can comment (I mix by weight).
Those skinny tips are a little harder to get off, but they will come off. Just gotta be careful not to spill when they do.
I'm frustrated with the scale I bought, it's very nice, but doesn't show any measurement below .3 grams, so I'm still measuring some flavors by drops or using a syringe. I've figured out that I really need a jewelry scale that is accurate to .001 grams, not .1 or .01. And I'd love to find a way to disable the automatic shut off.

I started with a little inexpensive scale I think it was around 8 bucks. It shut off and I was always felt rushed but I never really had any trouble with it.
A few weeks ago I got the scale in botboys guide to mixing by weight. It has a cord and doesn't have a shut off that I have seen. Its nice to be able to really take your time I love it.

Anise is a sweet and bright spice flavor.

Licorice is a molasses-y, deep, sweet flavor with some anise in it. Not a black jelly bean, but real licorice candy.

They are not at all interchangeable. Most people who like licorice (candy or flavors) like anise. But many who like anise can't stand licorice.

FA Licorice is for licorice candy fans, and very useful for special flavor effects like gingerbread, and in tobaccos.

FA Anise is for everyone who likes sweet spices.

I was looking for the best one for an absinthe receipe.maybe just try both I like both of them ...I love molasses, but not sure it's appropriate for the absinthe maybe too heavy.

TFA makes an absinthe. I ran into the same issue when trying to clone Absolute Pin. The use of the actual Absinthe didn't make that big of a difference when sub in Anise in its place. So if your trying to sub something for the Absinthe, go with FA Anise.

I just called 'em and you're right. E-Cig Express does rebottle from bulk stock.
That makes this even more amazing... Geez, I thought these were FA factory bottles!...
Props to them... I would compliment ECX on their quality and safety.

Notice the child-proof, color coded caps, the clear plastic wrap over those high-end light blocking bottles... the 31 drop/ml tip...
This ECX bottles are hands down the gold standard in safe flavor packaging.

The tip can easily be removed w/ a small plier or (down in the groove of) a tweezer, but why?...
These tips are quite accurate and a huge help for test recipes and smaller batches. Just count the drops... no syringe necessary. Takes just a couple minutes to whip up 30 ml of juice now. And no clean-up!

View attachment 19636

And for equal time, this is the Mama Js Juice... original flavor packaging...
View attachment 19637

I think I prefer the ECX bottles over the Mama Js simple (non-PTFE) plastic bottles.
These are good for juice but in my experience, are not desirable for flavorings.

lol awesome man

I take them off and use a syringe or another dropper. The dark plasti bottles are hard to squeeze too.

Look on precious metals sites....they have really good accuracy cause us precious metals freaks are always weighing our stuff
I want one that's sensitive to minuscule weight. Like one drop of flavoring....

I was looking into that last night. For several thousand dollars you can have one LOL It seems also that you need one with a shield - air affects the weighing procedure as well. I think I'll stick to my $15 scale :)

So how do you accurately measure your flavoring by weight while mixing? I've been using mine for PG, VG, and nic, but unless my flavoring weighs in at .3 grams it doesn't even read.

I hate the shrink wrapping. That was ridiculous. And you guys are really good at mixing by drops. I can't. I always lose count!
I know - I keep a pair of manicure scissors on my desk and cut them off from the tops.

Well, this scale is accurate to .01. It just doesn't show me the first drop, but it most certainly shows 0.03. I use it generally for 10mls and up. For small testers I just use drops. Make sense?

That's what I've been doing, I had just hoped it would measure for small batches too. Mine is accurate to .01 as well, but wondered if a jewelry scale accurate to .001 would read lesser amounts.

From what I was reading the issue is with the surrounding air. But if you find out anything else, let me know!

I've been looking at a few on eBay, they don't cost much more than the one I got from Amazon (it was something like $8.65), but I'll let you know.

I actually cut myself trying to get it off (razor blade cut). And I was told a long time ago that those PET bottles (the clear shiny ones that are stiffer, even though theirs is brown) are not good for flavorings and juice because they're not as chemical resistant - with certain chemicals, they break down and leech into the contents. So Will, stick to the ones you're using - those are chemical safe. ;)

If you're trying to make really small batches the trick I found was to put something on the scale first, like a button. The one I have weighs about 1g. Then it will, atleast mine did, measure those small drops. So instead of starting out at 0.00 and putting in a drop and nothing happens, weigh the button or something light and start above that 0.3g just don't hit tare lol.
I have also done that by adding the least amount of flavor after adding PG or VG without hitting tare.
Its worth a shot before you buy another one I think. Your could always try it with plain water first just to see:)

Actually I'd totally forgotten that I'd read before you should do that. I think I bought a 10gram weight, so I could just weigh up from that!

I loathe them also! They're extremely hard to squeeze out, and getting the tops off is a pain. I also think they have a lot more drops than 30 or so /ml, but I didn't measure so I could be wrong on that.
hey amanda we all talk about drops a lot in here on this thread so I thought Id run down what I have as far as various dropper bottles. This is what I come up with at my house at our elevation at what we consider "room temperature" on a scale
rsz_20150428_182659.jpg

Left to right all "squishy material"

1. Nic Vape 10ml... Ive said it before and I'll say it again. These are the best bottles around as far as drops go. very very accurate.28 drops per ml every time. maybe because they are the squishiest. I dont know but what I do know is I LOVE these bottles.
2. Tasty Puffs 10ml original packaging ... 31/33 drops per ml
3. squishy ecig needle point 10ml... around 45
4. ecig 10ml squishy blunt style right around 33
5. Mama J's 10ml ... 31/33
6. ONE STOP DIY SHOP 5ml ... 31/33
7. Mama J's 5ml ... 31/33
8. Mama J's 15ml 31/33
9. Capellas original packaging "13" ml... 31/33
10. Inawera original packaing .... who knows anywhere from 45-99 lol

rsz_20150428_182855.jpg

Left to right "hard plastic"

Bull City 5ml ... 35 ish
vaperstek 10ml... 35 ish
Bull City 30ml... 35 ish
New FA from BCV 10ml original packaging ...35- 42 ish +
Old FA BCV original packaging 10ml ... 33 ish
