Hey all! :) Been down with pnuemonia for a couple of weeks, but it looks like I'm gonna beat it & get back to my routine. I've started making a few flavors for some family members, but one I don't have & have never tried came up. I would like some guidance on a menthol flavor, not too strong, but one that definitely has a menthol taste.

I'm gonna be putting in an order to Drew @ Bull City, since I don't have any menthol flavoring. 1 question I have is could Koolada be used as a menthol or an enhancer of some sort? I thank you for any advice you might have.Hope everyone has a great weekend...:)

Sorry to hear you've been sick!

I just use menthol crystals disolved in PG. Koolada doesn't give the same affect, so you might just want to pick up some menthol crystals. It takes a tiny amount to give an affect, so don't be heavy handed!

Ok, thank you Amanda. Can I treat it like a usual recipe, and add my usual amount of VG and Pg? Never made a recipe with menthol, so I'm a noob on this one...lol

For sure! I'm not a huge menthol fan, but for a hint of menthol I literally add one drop to a 30ml bottle - more as needed. It just depends on how much you want!

I was an occasional menthol smoker (would pick up a pack every 6 months or so), but I've found I'm much more of a menthol vaper - with BCV get a sample-size bottle of FW Menthol (it's all you'll ever need). I use 1-2 drops per 10 ml, any more and it takes over the flavor, even strong stuff like 8% FA mixes...start with 1 drop/10 ml and if that doesn't do the trick go from there.

For a measure of scale, I've been mixing exclusively for about 5 months, I burn through about 10 ml/day, and half to two-thirds of my mixes are mentholated - I just checked my 6 ml bottle purchased from BCV in late November and I've used about 1.5 ml so far...

If you buy menthol crystals, you can melt them over a heat source to fill the room with sinus clearing scent.
Be careful though, menthol is an oil and is flammable in solid, liquid, and vapor.

Used to do it a lot.
Got an 8oz container of pure menthol crystals off ebay for something like $10, made a small tinfoil bowl, put some menthol crystals in it, and put it over a light bulb. Menthol melts at around 105-110f and a bit over that it starts evaporating. It is *very* strong though, a piece the size of a few grains of rice can easily scent up a 10x10 room to the point of making your eyes water, especially if your not used to it.

I vape mostly menthol and mint. Crystal are great for straight menthol. I fill at 10 ml bottle with crushed crystal and fill with pg. In several hours the crystal will dissolve. Start with 2 drop of this menthol solution per 10 ml.
Inawera mix mint is good. Strong mint and menthol.

INW mint is another good one, and another that I'll only use at a drop or two per 10 ml - the problem is trying to get drops out of their glass bottles...

Ok, thanks guys for all of the great info. I'll be trying these methods out, in the hopes I can get a menthol flavor right. I've never been a fan of menthol, but like I said, my sister in law is gonna be a customer of mine, so I really want to get her flavors & preferences just right...:)

My brothers ADV is
4% WL Menthol solution or 1% ECX Menthol solution
2% FA Peppermint
0.6% Koolada

It's very refreshing. I like the feeling of menthol but not the flavor. The peppermint helps give it a better flavor and the end result is like a nice breath freshener. As an ex menthol smoker he likes the kick and throat hit from the menthol. I keep sending him fruits and custards and he keeps getting bigger and bigger bottles of the menthol. Whatever it takes to keep him off the stinkies!

As an ex menthol smoker, My all day vape has always been mint and menthol for the last 3 years.

Now I mix 3% FA spearmint, 3% FA peppermint, 5% FA vanilla and 1% of a 10% menthol solution. Sometimes I add a little koolada and sweetener. Gives you a minty vape with light vanilla undertones (kinda like double mint gum). When I'm sick, I vape 10% peppermint with 10% of a 10% menthol solution. Opens up my sinus' and is better than using a Vicks vaporub
