This happends because they dont pay taxes, or insurance. Most legit people cant compete with someone who is willing to work for almost nothing. The problem isnt the illegals... its the people hiring them. Its not a level playing field.
the fact remains, tho, that there are some jobs americans just won't do. it's like beneath them or something. when i was a kid, i detassled corn in the summer. they can't get anyone to do it now. hence they import the labor.

also, sometimes there are no americans qualified for some jobs. a large insurance company here had to hire IT people from overseas because there weren't enough qualified applicants here. sad to say, other countries are passing us up in education and technology. and what is the first thing they always cut here? education. stupid.

They hired people overseas because they dont want to pay a living wage. Take a look at the trades. Nobody want to pay a living wage... thats why the illegal who charges half gets the job.

Lol. I live in the north though... Tipping is definitely expected up here it's just that certain people feel that they don't need to do it. I think it's more of a cultural thing/how people are being raised. In my household, we were taught to tip people as well as we can, especially if the service is good. It's just the right thing to do.
Live in Michigan I have worked in the food industry in the past and my wife was a waitress that's how we met always know when to tip really well everyones gotta make a living

I'm just waiting for that lottery money to cash in so I could tell the people at work "screw you guys I'm going home".
It doesn't make a lot of sense since I never play the lottery.

There are no stupid batteries, just stupid people.

From what I hear, you Also shoot anyone with a tan that might happen to cross an invisible line drawn by racists....
Heaven forbid an immigrant should call the US home...

I hate to be the one to break this to you, but sneaking over a border is not immigration...it's not legal in any country

I detassled corn too on my Grandpa's farm. Hot and sweaty work.

This is what the thread is for though... so if you don't want to hear complaining, why go here?

Yeah, I feel you there. I am almost done with school for computer networking and a couple of months ago I applied for an internship. I didn't even qualify for that. (even though I had 6 years of tech support experience through Time Warner Cable so I'm not a complete newb) Then I find out the asshole who got the job sits around and does nothing, like all of the other interns. (my brother works there) It's so frustrating because I'm a good worker and actually have work ethic. I would actually be an asset to the company instead of a burden.

Lol. Maybe true 15 years ago. You're more likely to run into a hipster artist in Texas now than a gun toting redneck. Keep clinging to that ideal though

I work for chrysler. I hate it. Nepotism and cronyism means unqualified undeserving people get the cushy gigs over more deserving people. It's rampant.

Also, if you're thinking of buying a wrangler, I really wouldn't. Our control arms and shocks have a life span of about 3 years (normal use) and its an expensive repair to make.

This isn't entirely true.
a lot of "tradesmen" have cut back on standards to continue to profit while in a deficit.
doing so opened Pandora's box.
GC's are looking at shoddy work and wondering why their paying double what they would pay an immigrant for the same standards.
As a painter, i see it ever day on every job.
when I first started working on Kiawah 15 years ago for some of the wealthiest people in the world, our GC'S would actually follow every contractor around with a hallogen, a level, a tape, plum bob,..etc.
nowadays they seem to be pulling labor from Craigslist...

All bragging aside, our 3 man operation is seeing more buisness than we ever have with absolutely no advertising.
We have a waiting list and we're pulling jobs from some of the biggest names on the island simply from word of mouth because we've NEVER lowered our standards.

Fwiw, my opinion Is based on what I see.
it may be different in your area but as the last one on a job before the cleaners, i can tell you that 90% of my job is fixing other people fixes before I even dip a brush.

Sadly Training in jobs has been going the way of the Dodo due to companies living/dying on a financial quarterly basis. Even in the trades, it's slowly dying. I saw an ad for an apprentice electrician yesterday. 2 year AAS or technical degree needed plus 5 years experience. What the hell is an apprenticeship program for if you need 5 years of experience to even get considered? The pay was $2 above minimum wage. I'm sure they got swamped with applications. A lack of training programs simply means that the companies are too freaking cheap to invest in their employees, but they are willing to spend big $$ on executive bonuses.

Im happy to have a job but I am so worn out at the end of the day that I am not in the mood to do anything but breathe.

Its taking a toll on my conscious, im just feeling drug in the dirt, my back aches from the pain daily I'm just feeling like the greener side of the grass is just oceans away and I'm swimming with cinder blocks tied to my ankels.

In the end, we all die with nothing. The only way it will pay off, is if you leave something, (could be money, knowledge, or anything valuable in ANY way) for your offspring to have a better life than you. The trick is actually discovering what is actually valuable.

very very true.. thank you efektt.. :)
graves are made the same size, even if you are rich or not..
its not like the pyramid times in Egypt.. and you are right.. figuring out what is valuable.. that is the toughest.. ;)

Sick and tired of lazy coworkers. Seems that when we have people that can help get things done without one person busting their ass to do it all they would help a little. Nope, and guess who the person is that gets stuck walking the extra mileage at night, this guy. I get called a punk ass mother fucker probably a dozen times a night among other things by our inmate population, I just cuss them back, whiny bastards. That doesn't bother me, what upsets me are the lazy fucktards that sit on their asses or on the phone all night with their girlfriends whatever while I'm the one doing all the checks to help make sure everything is functioning properly to keep the little shit head inmates inside the fences, plus my regular job, and I can't vape for 12 hrs. I refuse to dip, tried it, hated it. So yeah, fuck lazy people.

I work in highly skilled manufacturing and earn a good living. I have no debt, a nice home, a couple cars, but I learned a few years ago money is meaningless. Health and love mean everything. The whole notion of success tied to money is a joke. I have the love of the most amazing woman in the world; that's priceless...

But no you said a few things thing that would help with being a good musician.

A little extra play money, with a loving supportive woman in a drama free controlled life.

Welcome, drummer Ray
