"The very reason that years ago we got rid of advertising for cigarettes (was) so as not to get young people hooked on nicotine, of which they would have an addiction for the rest of their lives and it would be very hard to break that addiction," Nelson said on Friday."

No!!! The very reason that years ago we got rid of advertising for cigarettes (was) to not cause young people to get lung cancer from the smoke of the BURNING TOBACCO CIGARETTE!!!

This whole ANTZ Zealot anti nicotine thing has just popped up recently.
If nicotine was the big problem then the patch, gum, and nicorette inhaler would have not been OK'd by the FDA decades ago.
Now they are OK to be used as long as the smoker needs to use them for!!!
Even for life! Big Pharmas dream has come true.
Now these horrible products that don't even work can be used forever without being used off label.

My father quit smoking using the gum twice in the late 80's and was hooked on it for 6 months, went back to smoking for 6 months, then was hooked on the gum again for 2 years!
This is not an isolated incident and Big Pharma and Big Tobacco bank on this happening.
The good old revolving door.
Smoke for 30, 40 , 50 years, quit using 'FDA approved' products that do not work, go back to smoking, quit again, go back to smoking, etc... everyone from Pharma to BT gets rich and the poor to lower middle class get poorer. This is BAD FOR 'PUBLIC HEALTH'

So Another Democratic Senator (FL) Teams up with the regular asshole squad:
Sens. Barbara Boxer (D.-Calif), Dick Durbin (D.-Ill.), Tom Harkin (D.-Iowa), Richard Blumenthal (D.-Conn.), Sherrod Brown (D.-Ohio), Jack Reed (D.-R.I.) Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) Tom Carper, (D-Del), S, Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Jack Reed (D-CT)

I say: Fuck Em' all let Em' Burn!!! - 5150 :)

To be perfectly honest I don't like the ecig tv spots. They are all from companies like Blu, which is subpar at best. What I dislike the most is they stress a "vape anywhere you can't smoke" concept. I get why, but it's not the mass media approach id like to see.

The whole vape anywhere concept is not one I like. I'll try it any place is feel reasonable, but never get offended if someone asks me to not.

I do like you. I vape usually in the same places I used to smoke at and I avoid children like the plague.
If anyone thinks that their child is being exposed to my vaping chances are the kid was standing in the smoking section where they shouldn't be to start with.
But when I am out i often use a non tobacco menthol that smells like wintergreen lifesavers.
I will slip into a bathroom for a quick vape if I am stuck somewhere such as a hospital or doctors office for a couple of hours.

I use common sense and respect others while vaping and i did the same when i was a smoker.

The main problem with ecig advertizing is they are not allowed to say what the product does and what it is for. That doesn't leave much for marketing strategies.
All they can do is use 'sex sells' and "you can be free" because they are not allowed to say much else. If Blu stopped advertizing (80% of all advertizements) today, these asshole senators wouldn't skip a beat and would move on to the next thing their buddies in the Pharma industry told them to attack about vaping.

I agree about the responsible vaping.
I dislike any e-cig television commercial that I have seen thus far.

Its because all the tv commercials are from big tobacco or njoy.
When is the last time you saw an innokin or kanger commercial on tv?
Me neither! :)

Exactly! No real information in those tv spots.
Now an Innokin commercial.....well that would be something, would it not?

I can live without ecig tv commercials. All the ones I have seen are lame and can actually see where an ad like that on mtv or someplace might tempt a teen with those blu commercials with Jenny Mcarthy and that other douche bag actor. That being said by the logic they use they really should add beer and boose to that bill because you can not go 5 minutes without a alcohol commercial popping up.

I guess I would rather them waste their time on this shit that trying to out right ban them.
