Busardo videos usually annoy me, but this one made me physically sick

So, I've watched one of Busardo's videos about his little trip to China with Vaping Greek - don't ask, I'm stuck at home with the flu and running a fever. It must be worse than I thought... It's this video here, in which them two guys are touring around sweatshops in China.

But it's this segment (between 25 and 28 minutes into the video, more or less) that made me particularly sick: in it, you can see two obnoxious lardass bloggers - without a real job, but with enough disposable to fly to China to make Youtube videos - goofing around in KangerTech's production facilities, cracking gay jokes, comparing how they look with a cap, while casually filming Kanger's army of wage slaves toiling on vaping hardware in total silence for a dime a day.

My god, these two idiots redefine Ugly American. Don't they see how incredibly revolting their attitude is? Given how easy they have it compared to Chinese workers, they could at least keep quiet and show some respect. I feel the shame for them half the world away, and I wasn't even there. Seriously, it makes me sick to my stomach...

Obviously their Chinese hosts stay polite and pretend to laugh with them, because their videos bring business. But god they must hate their guts. Shit, if I was one of these poor assembly line workers, I know I would. And I feel shame. Because of those two.

So if any of you guys in China having to earn a living in those conditions is reading this, please, please! don't think we westerners are all Busardos and Vaping Greeks. Some of us actually know how lucky we are, and don't behave that way.

Hey thanks for sharing this, even though I'm not getting the same reaction to it as you are. I think this is some mighty fine documentary film work and had no idea Kangertech was so huge and organized.

I'm not seeing any issues with the way they are behaving. I didn't realize fat and happy were insulting characteristics to the Chinese. Guess I better stay out of China.

The pink joke might be inappropriate in some way, but I don't equate the color pink with sexual preference so that may be why it isn't striking me the same way.

As I understand it, the whole trip for both of them was payed for by the Chinese.

As far as the Ugly American tourist, they are a constant source of embarrassment to me.

On my past trips outside of the USA I have seen them in action. What a freaking sense of entitlement they seem to have.

Seriously, you take your family to London England and you, your wife and your out of control kids are all wearing Hawaiian type floral shirts? In a freaking CHURCH!

I distinctly remember in France of all places. It was December and I was wearing my usual jeans, flannel shirt, an oil skin duster and engineers boots. I looked like the freaking Marlboro man. I even had some locals in Paris come up to me and tell me that people like me were welcome. Not so much the other "kind"?

And I totally understood who they were talking about!

As far as the facility goes, that's what I expected to see. We have a Honda plant here, and while it's Japanese and not Chinese, that influence is still there. Even though the facility here is a foundry where they make car engines, you could probably eat off the floor in that place. It's spotless. Everyone wears the same uniform, from the janitor who was hired yesterday to the company president. That's just the way they do things.

The bill for this China trip was covered by a few different companies, including Kanger, Innokin, and Cloupor. It was basically a PR move to rub elbows with two of the biggest names in vaping. Phil came back from this trip and posted up his rave review of the Cloupor Mini...which turned out to be a real turd. He has since retracted his endorsement of it, but this trip served its purpose: swaying a reviewer's opinion. As for the Greek, he'll leap at any chance to put his name on something.

Kanger, Aspire and Innokin are not sweatshops.
There are a lot worst places to work in, it's all relative.
But yes Phil and his friend are a bit obnoxious.

So Marlboro man OK but magnum pi isn't, got ya. Go to Disney, universal, whatever, act like an American Goofball, what they're there for. Don't go to the Vatican acting like Peter Griffin.

I dunno. I don't see sweat shop there. Looks like a clean, well run and organized factory. Better than a few places I have worked. Do you know how much these people make??? Didn't think so. And for the record Phil does have a full time job. He does what he does in his spare time for the love of vaping and helping others. Yeah he gets freebies. But so what. I have received freebies from companies to do reviews on. Big whoopty do.

I thought they conducted themselves fine, Like most tourists seem to do, the workers seemed comfortable and unbothered at their stations as well.
I enjoyed the information and peek at the facility the video gave.

Clean as the factory floor is those people look less than fucking thrilled to slave there.. yes I said slave.
Dorms across from the factory is not having a job that is paying the company store and a snap shot of things to come.

"army of wage slaves toiling on vaping hardware in total silence" Really? I do the same thing free just for relaxation!
Pay me to put builds on a RBA deck or test tanks for leaks...please!
Seriously though, I saw good solid jobs in a nice work environment.
I also thought those "ugly Americans" acted fine. They're good guys just having fun with something they care about.
C'mon Giraut and Nasty ....don't be a haters. The best and most interesting part of spending time with people of another culture is our differences.
If we can appreciate their differences and they ours then we can all get along better.
Ever been to China? I have and they love us there. They try to mimic us in many ways. And that's the most sincere form of flattery!

Watched the innokin video all the way thru, they made some stupid sex jokes and whatnot, but the actual information and what is going on over there just blew me away. Kinda see their price points now how they are because of how many qc points were involved. Stress tests to see how much bumping around the devices could take, they screwed tanks on every single one, checked the output on every single one, checked the buttons etc on every single one. Even had like a little sauna box to put mods in to see how they do in humid hot climates. Just a whole lot of checking for durability etc. Just kinda opened my eyes a little to know that I'm getting a thoroughly checked product (from innokin anyway) before it ever leaves china. I'd pay a little more for that.

On a side note I have no idea how old this mvp2 I have is as it was a gift, but this thing has a huge gash on the side from a pretty big fall I'm sure. Scratched all to hell, put a sleeve on it to cover up the booboos, & aside from the occasional post pulling it fires like it should. Proof enough to me that at least with innokin products its gonna last a long time.

I disagree with this. For one thing, the workers aren't going to say anything. They wouldn't lift their eyes up from their work station if the building was on fire. They won't move unless they're told to. For crying out loud there are lines painted on the floor so that they don't have their stools out in the aisle. No, this isn't a sweat shop, but Chinese factories are run more like an army than anything else.

As for Phil and Dimitri's behavior, I thought it was disrespectful at times. Especially the Greek wearing his hat backwards and acting like a moron. These companies footed an all-expense paid trip for these two yahoos. They're in a very strict country with a lot of tradition, and they're behaving like a couple of teenage boys on a playground instead of like gracious professionals.

Yup. And i worked in aviation for 8-9 years and we have lines painted on the floor too. Cant cross this under this circumstance, or cant bring that over the line. And every single one of those lines with stipulations are there for this thing called safety. A thing that is kinda big in a factory job as well. Hell even some factories i worked for when i was younger had the same thing. Lines on the floor does not mean slaves. Its there for safety and organization. As far as not looking up, what do you expect a company want when two popular youtubers show up to film something thousands of their possible customers will see? A factory filled with inefficient workers screwing off for the camera?

Yea if you look again there was another guy wearing his hat backwards the whole time... 'Mr. Danny', the CEO and owner of Kangertech.

You're totally correct RJ. My Wife is from France and we travel there at least once a year, sometimes twice, to visit her family. You go over there and act like a douchebag, you're going to be treated like one.
Why would someone go out of their way to visit another country and not be interested in learning more about their culture? Sight-seeing is only part of the fun. Immersing yourself in local culture, and showing interest in them usually makes your trip something to remember.

I worked for an amazon.com distribution center for over 2 years. You walked in lines. Things stayed in their place in lines. They had a name for it. It was called 5S. Everything has a place and it stays there. Unless a department had a laid back manager there was no talking while working. How the hell is this any different. Workplace rules are in place for a reason. For production and safety.

My reasoning for finding the behavior of Busardo and Vapin Greek odious is thus:

On the one hand, you have these two fellows, who don't really break their back to earn a comfortable living, who are vacationing in China - yes, I know they're "working" on their Youtube gig. But really, they're just doing a bit of filming and a lot of having fun. Not to mention, on top of that, apparently, it was all expenses paid.

On the other hand, you have a bunch of Chinese assembly line workers, obviously not having much fun at all at work. It is work after all, and working on the assembly floor is rarely an exciting affair in any country.

The former are goofing around and liberally showing how good they have it in front of the latter.

Now, I don't question that Kanger's workers are possibly very well paid and very well treated by China's standards. I doubt it, but let's assume, for the sake of argument. I don't question that Americans working at Amazon or Walmart are barely better off than Chinese workers either. And finally, although I tend to find it in poor taste generally, I don't think people acting like jerks in a foreign country are much of a problem.

The only question is this: do you think any of them Kanger assembly line workers could take a week off, fly to the US and tour, say, the ProVape factory and play obnoxious Chinese tourist while ProVape employees are working? Of course they couldn't. Even if ProVape invited them all expenses paid, I highly doubt they have enough days off to even do that. And you know what? Neither ProVape nor any US company will invite any of them all expenses paid anyway. Ever.

So, if I was Busardo or Vapin Greek, if I toured the ProVape facilities, where people have roughly the same standard of living and ability to take holidays abroad as I have, I might be goofing around and having fun. But if toured a Chinese factory - or a US Amazon center - in which I know full well most employees aren't remotely as well-to-do as I am, I'd be at least polite enough to stay low key and not shove my vastly better life right in their face.

See what I mean? It's not a matter of Chinese or American, it's just a matter of respect for people who aren't as lucky as you are.

It's no different...I worked in a large factory at one time...it was very much like the one in the video...clean, organized, and safety conscious...the workers were focused and professional...clearly, the folks making statements concerning the factory conditions and employee behavior have never worked in an organized factory setting...

Did anyone get forced to watch that vid ? Two dudes have an opinion , so what . They said nothing in bad taste , it's the way some want to take it . Look at how some folks communicate in this forum, and you talk about lack of respect ? That looks a lot nicer than some factories in this country ! No mention was made of how much these people make , but keep in mind the cost of living is 1/10 of what it is in this country. All in all not a bad look .

I've worked in American factories, door knobs and clutches. Similar environment to what I saw in the videos. I agree with everyone about the workers and how they presented themselves. They work in a controlled environment for safety and efficiency, what's wrong with that. Hell they have nap time for crying out loud, how awesome is that? They get breaks, and from what I saw the workers were treated very fairly. Not everyone works in a laid back office job where u n your boss can talk about the ball game while you're not in a meeting or on a business call. Nothing wrong with that, but without factories like these that car in your driveway or that computer you're typing on wouldn't exist. Now, their childish behavior, they're both in their 40s I'm guessing but act like they're 12 at times, yeah that was kinda childish at times. However, most people get online and act like asses just cuz they can anyway, so whats the real difference? This board cracks me up sometimes with some people who have to talk shit about everything they see, and try to make everyone except their viewpoint as law. All the people dogging the 2 Peter Griffin's who toured China just gotta realize that's who they are. I've still personally yet to see favoritism in any of their reviews, maybe a little bias at times, but at least with Phil people send him stuff I'm sure daily, and I know he can't give an accurate review on longevity of any product by playing with it for a day (cloupor). He's helped people quit smoking, isn't that the whole point? Even tho he's fat and annoying I do believe the fatter Greek is trying to be an advocate for our vaping rights, do some research, alot of state govts are pushing hard to treat vaping worse than analogs. Whether we agree with their methods or not, I think they both do a lot of good. Big whoop if we think they're fat and annoying. I like giveaways, & Phil's are usually easy to get in on. I ain't won nothing yet, but I like having the opportunity. Could they have been more discreet in china and not acted like Homer Simpson's? Yes, but unfortunately that's who they are. Don't like em, don't watch their stuff.

TThe uniform policies are like that in most Chinese companies and schools. Eastern countries are collectivist societies and that is something most Americans can not grasp.

We are Americans and strive to reach the top. The clerk at a gastation who works his ass off in America often is doing so to gain rank. In Asian countries they work as a whole. The person works for the good of the company. If a person is part of a group in America and the other for do not do their share, they will be at the bosses desk telling them. Chinese would keep their mouth shut because the group is successful. Their was a gum is in the olympics he was on team china. He broke bones and still went on to participates china had a chance to bring home the gold. Good luck getting an American to do that for pride of country.

They are just different over there. They are also socialist and communists, I prefer the American way lol. Of you're pinko commy the collectivist life is right up you ally then. Not referring to you v43 just people over all.

So, I've watched one of Busardo's videos about his little trip to China with Vaping Greek - don't ask, I'm stuck at home with the flu and running a fever. It must be worse than I thought... It's this video here, in which them two guys are touring around sweatshops in China.
You can't say the video made you physically sick after using the excuse that you only watched it because you were sick. I'm pretty sure it was the flu that made you physically sick, not the video. And good lord, man. That's 25 minutes into the second 1 hour video. You sure you don't have a little bit of a man crush on Phil? I like his reviews, but you couldn't pay me to watch his vacation videos for that long.

I agree.. I have been in some that were dirty, loud, and safety wasnt important.. In others, it was clean, organized, quite, same as you see in the vids.

I think most of this actually has to do with haters being stereotypical in their stereotyping. I mean, Chinese labor must be 'slave labor', and American tourists must be 'loud, brash, and obnoxious' right?
