Issue found on the Kanger Sub Tank rebuild-able head with certain...

A user on another forum has received his subtank mini with updated brown insulators pre-installed! It also seems theyve added an insulator to the airhole screw

Hopefully this latest version of the RBA puts any issues to rest and everyone can be happy again

I've also been able to start using my subtank mini again by thoroughly cleaning multiple times with alcohol and distilled water and using another OCC coil. I've got my baby back! Partially, but still better than nothing

@JC87 Do you have more pics onf the new insulator from the other poster in another forum. I would like pics of the insulator apart from the RDA deck to see if it has the grooves for the tabs. thanks. I also used your pics to send to kanger to let them know their clear insulators are not working. I did this because I just received my Mini and have two more on order and i checked the insulator in the RDA and its clear so not goign to use it untill i have the brown ones. But if the brown ones are not fitting I'm not going to order some from the kanger site.

@Jackson The thing is/was the pic of the two insulators on the page the one on the left was supposed to have the base of the mini but there are two tabs on it that don't let it sit flush on the base. I sent pics provided here by @JC87 about a week ago proving to them the insulator they were sending out and selling did not fit the mini rba base. I guess that's why they put that on their page. They emailed me telling me to send my insulator in and they would send me a new one.

One thing I noticed when I started rebuilding is you cannot forget to fire the coil after the build to get any hot spots out and ensure the coil fires evenly.

Typically, the circuit protection will kick in but when it doesnt, it can melt that plastic. Good Luck

It's a tough audience these days, anywhere you go. Sometimes it seems, as they say – No good deed goes unpunished.

Just now evaluating my first high power, high density build for the SubMin and it did come with the clear insulator. So far wrapping up the first tank no indication of a problem. We shall see as we break it down.

Good luck.

:)

My first SubMin with the clear Peek is not causing any problems. I've had it 3-4 wks now.

JC thanks for giving us a heads up. Noted your likewise on that other forum. Thx.

(noted the ribbin' you got but ur on point)

Good luck.

:)
I can't believe this. I haven't had any problems with my clear peek insulator but I have a horrible taste with the new tan peeks. What the hell is going on here?

Kanger has kind of screwed the pooch on this one. They now have 3 different insulators, and the first 2 are a problem... and not just with tank cracker juices. The first insulator, the white one, has been admitted by Kanger to be a problem. The second, the clear PEEK insulator replaced the original white and is also a problem material. Kanger has admitted this too. I have the Kanger mini with the clear insulator (that was supposed to fix the problem) and it has deteriorated on my tank after 3 fills by visible cracks around the airflow hole and discoloration of the material from clear to an opaque muddy color. I have only vaped a strawberry with a little caramel in it, so tank cracking juice is not an issue here. Kanger has, since the release of the mini with the clear PEEK insulator, released a new blended PEEK material that is light brown. I have ordered this to see how it performs. The new insulators are on sale at $0.49 for 2... 1 for the 25mm tank and 1 for the 22mm mini. You can contact them for a free replacement but you will need your box for the serial number, authenticity number, where you bought the tank, and address information. I just decided to buy the insulators rather than dig up all the information. Hopefully this newest material is tested well and will work better. Time will tell. I do appreciate Kanger is responding fast to the issue and hope the latest insulator has been properly tested and vetted.
I just started using a new tank with the tan peek insulator and I'm having problems. Horrible taste. The one I have with the clear peek is okay but I haven't tried it with a tank cracker. The only tank cracker I have is Cinnamon Roll.

Where is the other side to this deck? That's not what my mini looks like?

The Kanger story that never ends. As I said in my earlier post today, I received the replacement insulators today with very fast service from Kanger US. But unfortunately... it doesn't work. The insulator for the big Subtank is a perfect replacement, no problem there. But the insulator for the mini is clearly for a different build deck. A build deck that has juice channels that continue from the sides to the flat top surface of the deck. Only problem is mine doesn't have those juice channels for the ears that stick out from the insulator to fit in. Also, the through hole narrows on my build deck so the insulator will not sit all the way inside the through hole. Here are a few pics of the big Subtank and the mini side by side with the new insulators.
I'm
View attachment 13860 View attachment 13861

In the first pic you can see the ears on the insulators and how there is no place for them on the mini deck on the right. Although the full size Subtank has the channels for the ears. On the second pic the insulator is as far down as the mini insulator will go because of a narrowing step built into the throat of the through hole. How frustrating... the shit don't fit.

I would appreciate if anyone with the mini could post pics of their mini deck to see if there are juice channels for these ears on the flat portion of their deck. I suspect there must have been a running change in the deck design that has not been made known by Kanger yet... or they just screwed up the design totally. I suspect they made a change.

I'm about over this build deck TBH, it's just not worth the effort anymore.
There is a page on their site for the mini replacement peek insulator (the tan one). Supposedly, I have it on my mini but It looks lighter in color than your pics. Also, I'm getting a crappy taste with my Cinnamon Roll juice. So, apparently it can't handle tank cracker juice. I'm tearing my hair out over this debacle.

I have cinnamon danish in one with the clear insulators - it's fine! Presumably you did thoroughly wash it out before using first (mine all had a strong machine oil smell).

Sure enough, the Kanger website link I just posted about the mini peek replacement insulators says that it handles harsh juices. Well, I just emptied out my Cinnamon Roll, disassembled my tank, deck and washed it out. I thought I knew what monkey ass tasted like. I have now experienced the devil's ass. I'm livid:mad:

Hi Amanda:)Yes, I washed it out first before anything even though it didn't have any machine oil smell. I have three SubMinis. The first has the clear peek (V2) insulator and I haven't had any problems with it. Although, I never tried a tank cracker in it. The second two have the tan peek (V3) insulators. I put Cheesecake and Caramel in one and Cinnamon Roll in the other. I had to dump the Cinnamon Roll, disassemble the tank and deck and wash it out.

Sorry to say, it's not. I just bought two more SubMinis because the first one with the clear peek worked fine. These two with the installed tan peeks are okay until you put a tank cracker in them. I just dumped out my Cinnamon Roll and thoroughly washed the tank after disassembling it. And Kanger claims on it's website that the tan peeks can handle harsh juice. Now what?

Are you saying the new tan insulator has melted?
Not good, if so...........
No, that's why I disassembled it, to see if there were signs of melting. There was no melting from what I could visually see. But the taste was disgusting. The one with the cheesecake and caramel tastes okay.

Sounds like you ran into the lube. It can be a lot worse than scorched silicone. More like it came from a pig's ass. Guess they've never had a transmission apart. Hopefully by now video reviewers have figured out how to discern the difference. Perhaps they did all along and chose the better of two evils as an explanation. Kind of makes you all warm and fussy inside, don't it?

Good luck all.

I'm not even sure what to say Muth. This is the first I've heard of any issue with the tan insulator in the mini. This really sucks because they just put the mini tan insulator available to purchase on the KangerUS website 2 days ago and I was just ready to purchase a couple of them to replace my cracked clear insulator. I might go ahead and get a couple and just follow your advice and stay away from cinnamons and citrus juices. Maybe Kanger should publish a list of Mini SubTank approved juices

And that's just unacceptable. You should be able to vape the juice of your choice in any well made RTA. I am not happy with them.

My original sub tank was having issues with the Rebuildable. Not matter what I did it was bouncing around from.6-3.8. I sat it aside and didn't mess with it after a few failed attempts. I finally sat down and said ok, I'm going to figure this out. After a hour of fiddling I got it to stay in one place. The connection on the RDA had to be finagled to just the right spot to make good contact with the pin in the 510 that makes contact with the mod. Ibwas so stoked about this tank when I got it and now it is a PITA. I am not going to pay $15 for heads. I honestly thought the heads would have dropped by now. If I want to pay $3 a head. I would pull out my protank and buy heads at a B&M. It is ok, but not what I expected. Kanger seems to be going down hill. They are so worried about their next tank that the quality they were known for is slacking.

the heads last way longer than the old protank ones.. double the life for me at least.. I'm on my 5th or 6th refill on my big subtank and flavor is still not bad

also MyFreedomSmokes is doing a 40% off sale on coils right now.. i usually wait for these sales and buy a couple packs..

You say the rebuildable. I don't quite understand. Your 510 pin on the bottom of your deck was not making a proper connection?

Perhaps just buy a new RBA head? I have three subtanks with RBAs, and none of them have this issue, so I don't think it's a common problem!

When tou screw the deck into the base with the airflow ring. It wasn't making a good connection to the top of the 510 on the inside where it touches the RDA to the center post of the base. The base was making a good connection when screwed into a mod. It was the bottom of the RDA not making good connection inside the base.

Well, that just sucks! What now? Are you contacting the vendor? Kanger?

I got it when they fist came out. I am sure it is long past the store doing anything and I couldn't get a responce from Kanger. So I guess now that I know what the issue is, I will have to tinker and adjust it again. It will not take nearly as long as it did seeing I know the issue and do not have to try to figure it out.
