Wonder if the Kayfun V4 top cap would fit on an Orchid chimney to be able to top fill?
Yeah that's what I was originally thinking. It would be nice.
If I can remember tonight I will try my Kayfun V4 cap on the orchid to see if you can top fill with it.

It appears that the two-piece KF4 top cap is compatible with the rest of the Kayfuns and therefore Orchid too. I don't see why you couldn't top fill by removing just the uppermost piece. You're right @Ninja_DuDe, this would likely make for a better top fill method than the older Kayfun method. Both pieces are available on FT. Will post below.

Just remember, Kayfun chimneys are 6mm dia. vs. 5mm dia. for Orchid, so you need the Orchid o-ring to make a good seal.

lol didn't want to start a new thread so just needed a place to share. I tried it with my v3 deck last night and it fits. Gonna wick it up and give it a go tonight

Let us know how well it wicks, etc. That channel stuffing wicking is far from ideal. May not be necessary either. o_O

I see happier top filling coming for @Ninja_DuDe and @Oggy in the near future. :)

the kayfid is working and wicking really well. just need to figure out how to fill it easier, any ideas?

as far as practicality goes it does give it more juice capacity (for people like me that never went v4/v5/v6) and a pretty cool chimney

OK I call Bull Shit....and I call this because I didnt think of it first. I have been playing with just putting the Kayfun V4 top cap on an orchid to be able to top fill. All I had to do was put the whole tank on there. /facepalm Thanks @M5ahan

i think this setup may have converted me to dual coils for the time being. played with it a little more and got it hitting right. 28g spaced 5 wrap 3/32 came out to .45 ohms at 22 watts is delicious. getting to the coils mid tank and top filling is the cherry on top

I watched Busardo's review of the "authentic" Orchid. Everything from him bitching about the machine oil and the little poly baggie it came in for $129 screamed CLONE. This was the V1 version with the 2 screws on the top for filling and the air control allen screws on the sides. He even mentioned that the machining was rough and sub-par but still gave it a thumbs up because it vaped so well. My $13 Fasttech V6 Glass Tank clone didn't have any machine oil on it and came in a nice box and is machined very, very well.

For $129, Aethertech can keep their authentics.

I watched it a couple of days ago and thought: wrong model to review, not relevant to anything I'm doing, five months late, and I don't care. Not necessarily in that order. o_O

Folks, we are way ahead of him on this thread. Have been from the beginning.

The funny thing is that the V6 really has nothing in common with the one Busardo reviewed except for a lasered logo on the chimney, by any stretch even the 2nd V6 I have stock would beat the pants of of his $129 "authentic (clone)". I still have a hard time believing Busardo gave the damn thing a thumbs up.

This. Imo, in this thread alone I'd say we're ahead of aethertech. We as a group have been modding them to push the limits. and I'd say if smart company came upon this thread and took a lesson, they could actually make a rta that truly breathes and vapes like a automated rda.

Just a note on using the Kayfun V4 tank on the Orchid. While I like the flavor and the look of this setup it is kind of a pain. I have run three tanks with this setup and do like it. Only issue I have had is filling it. You can top fill but just like you would on the Kayfun but it IS GOING TO LEAK. Even with having a syringe ready and only having the top open for a few seconds I still have to turn it upside down and blow the excess juice out. There are some small holes that allow the juice from the tank to the deck. If you use a syringe and needle you can fill this way but I also ended up with some juice going down the chimney. @M5amhan how have you been filling yours?

I have the Fasttech clone I think it is by Infinite but not sure. Besides a small amount of oil it has been amazing.

yea it leaks when i fill it but its the only option. had a feeling it would before i even tried, but it doesnt let out a lot. i plug the airholes with my fingers as tight as possible, fill, put the cap on, let go, then immediately start vaping but still some juice does get out. not any significant amount of the tank though, just some loose juice i guess. coming from a v3 though with no extra parts it brought my orchid back to life big time, havent gone back to the kayfun v4 deck since i tried it

cant you fill it like that guy did in the orkayd video? I found that the silicone stoppers from my syringe bottle fit perfectly in my air holes and it is what i have been using to top fill. With a que tip stuffed in the chimney have had very minimal leaking so far

yea you can my juice is just too thick for that though. i found out last night i can fill with a lot less juice getting out and less mess. before removing my fingers flip it over, remove fingers then blow through the chamber with a paper towel and everything will get out with one breath. then no leaking at all

I have gone back to my top fill cap with the clear tank. Part of this is I use my Kayfun V4 as my work rig. I need something I can stealth vape at work without alot of vapor. While I like the Kayfun tank on the Orchid, I figure if I'm going to need a syringe to fill it I might as well use the top fill cap.

I just bricked a V3/ V4 base. broke a drill bit in the intake. it was all drilled and noticed that one side didn't go all the way through and I went to drill it again and i guess when I put it in the vice, it was a little crooked and snap. *sigh* I guess I'll be making another fasttech purchase of a new base. oh well.

"Orchid X" as in eXtracted from the already available parts bin. ;)

Except for the copper center pin, which made its entrance and exit with the bogus V5.

Sorta, my two v4 models have copper and brass 510s each. Depends on who makes I guess?

Don't feel bad.. admittedly I've tanked two. One drilled crooked came through at the very base of the chimney and the other was a glass tank v6 which didn't like the 1/8 bit.. it ended ROYALLY fucked lol

Been there. :( Broke a tap off in a V1 base putting in a fill port.

That is correct, sir. The copper one is probably from the atty you won, right? My bitchy recollection takes me back to that one "V5" which came along right after the V4s came out. It was in fact a V3 (short tank) featuring a copper pin, touting itself a V5. It's posted somewhere back on this thread.
