Hello, Newbie to this forum, need some guidance

So yea i started smoking again because of this whole lockdown situation but it's time for me to quit again. Last time i quit i did it via vaping but things have changed now. Apparently they passed some BS law in California that you can no-longer get flavored vape juice and the non-flavored stuff tastes like... well you know what it tastes like.

So it occurred to me that, as usual, the laws were stupid and easy to circumvent. I figure i'll just buy the non-flavored stuff and put my own flavors in it. What i am seeking here is advice on how exactly to do that. Back in the day when i was quitting the first time i usually went with a cream/fruit or cream/cereal type flavor.

Yes - you are on the right track with the adding-your-own-flavor angle

And welcome to VU - glad you are quitting starting again :)

I have a suggestion for you to use for while you are still learning to mix your own eliquid.
These "Hemp Flavor Enhancers" can be bought in any state.
You can mix the flavor enhancer in to the unflavored nicotine.

it may take some time to learn to D.I.Y.
if you need eliquid right now this is a fairly decent option.

The forums DIY section is a wealth of information on learning how to mix your own:

DIY can be as easy or as complicated as you make it.
If you can make coffee, powdered drink mix or chocolate milk, you can DIY e-juice.

example of easy: I mix a liter at a time of unflavored 4mg juice so I only have to measure the amount of flavoring(s) for the bottle I'm making. Fill with unflavored and shake. (YOU don't have to mix a liter at a time. I go through a lot of juice daily)

Welcome to VU!

As others have said, head down to the DIY section that @5150sick pointed out. There are howto's, recipes, and all kinds of folks who will help you on your journey.

Here's a hint to get you started, find a recipe that sounds good to you in our recipe section or on e-liquid-recipes.com (ELR) and just buy the flavors needed to make that recipe. bullcityflavors.com is my favorite place to buy flavors and use the code VU6 to get 6% off your order. Input the recipe into ELR and it will tell how much of everything you need to make that recipe. Shake it up and you're done. Some take time to steep/age/infuse what ever you want to call it, but there are a lot that you can shake and vape. Custards, creams, and tobaccos tend to need time for the flavors to get to know one another. Straight fruits should, in most cases, be shake and vape.

The flavor ban in CA is a city/county thing, but I wouldn't put it past the boneheads in Sacramento to do statewide here sometime. To get by you can find a vape shop in a different city that doesn't have a flavor ban and buy e-juice there. DIY is best bet however, and it's a lot cheaper. After the initial buying of supplies you can make 30ml of most recipes for under a dollar.

Enjoy and soon you'll be off the smokes again!
