They are known to use products made, gathered by child labour. But reality is most big brands do that too. Nike, Adidas, Apple, Gap and the list goes on. Its easy to find the info on it all. World consumers though turn a blind eye to it all. Sports stars being ambassadors and promoting gear they use made by children under appalling conditions.
Next time anyone eats some Nutella, spare a thought for the slave labour children that gathered the nuts to make it.

Not Nutella! I try to buy Fair Trade stuff when I can afford it. Especially chocolate. People go chocolate mad here for Valentines Day, and it sustains child slavery pretty much.

How’s things in Australia? I haven’t heard anything about dust or fires lately.

Can you elaborate why it's not a good idea to use the negative end as a switch contact? I've never heard anyone mention this to be a bad thing before.

Admittedly, I'm not a huge user of mechs, only casual. But all of them are older tube mechs so this interests me.
Same reason it's not a good idea to use these types of cells outside a fully protected battery pack with a protection circuit, i.e., they never were designed for that... none of them are. It never is "safe". But we do it anyway, and, there are certain things that we can do to protect ourselves with relative safety. Using the negative end as a switch contact isn't inherently dangerous. But if you use sandpaper to remove the arcing marks that occur on the negative end as a result from using the negative end as a switch contact, you're thinning out the metal that already is fairly thin to begin with. So, instead, we use the Heavy Duty version of 3M Scotch-Brite™ scouring pads to flatten the tiny bumps, or high spots resulting from some of the metal having been transferred from the firing contact in our tube mechs onto the negative end of our cells. So the only real things bad about it are,
  1. when people buy mechs they don't always know this, and,
  2. even if they do know, they don't always know how to choose those mechs that, actually, if you use them correctly, don't create severe high spots on the negative end of the cells, and,
  3. even if they do know, they don't always know how to use them correctly, and,
  4. even if they do know all 4 of the aforementioned bad things, they can't always succeed at teaching others because, for example,
  5. there might also be some certain conversationalists who, for whatever the reason, use smoke and mirrors in order to hide their own cluelessness, mainly on the internet.

Yeah they go pretty crazy here to for valentines day. Easter eggs are starting to show up everywhere too now.
There are some fires still burning, quite a few are out now or under control. Had another big dust storm yesterday, was 42c too. We were warned it was coming so I diverted the rain pipe from the tank and covered the hole over. Today it rained nice and heavy for a couple of hours. So I let the shed roof get the dust washed off it for 20 minutes then hooked the pipe back up, opened the bottom tank tap and let it go for half an hour to hopefully get a flush out. Closed it and with what still fell it filled. Hopefully tomorrow when I check it out it will be nearly clear. Fingers crossed. Was nice getting soaked whilst doing it :)
How you going, all good?

I personally think they should have a one time fuse in them. If you draw over CDR you have trashed your battery
I respectfully disagree with the word "should", because a one time fuse would trash cell performance, and the industry knows. The vast majority already have both PTC and CID in them, BTW, and, no, going above the CDR on a mech isn't the same thing as being a jackass, nor is without added risk, but going above the CDR on a mech in cohort with not knowing what you're doing certainly is the same thing as being a jackass so that's why the only thing we should recommend when someone asks how much is safe, is to stay at or below the CDR. I.e., people who already know what they're doing don't ask because they already know the correct answer, that, among many other important things, puts them in a position to know what they're doing. Basically it compares to replying "Yes of course they most certainly are" each time when someone asks if potato knives are too sharp. It's what we tell to our children or in this instance, to the uninitiated vapers, i.e. the beginners who are trying to learn battery safety. Mainly these people are regulated mod users who either are new to vaping or are still catching up on battery safety because they never had the chance to catch up or because they want to try a mech. Experienced mech users who choose to vape above the CDR of their battery and are doing it while knowing what they are doing, should not be thrown under the bus due to yet another scaremongering frisbee attempt. The reason I bring up mechs is because mechs are mostly affected by frisbee attempt.

LG want to sell a TV, but they don't want to pay for your broken foot after you put your TV up on your wall yourself because, instead, they tell consumers that Life's Good if consumers buy more LG TVs to be able to watch videos of your broken foot on YouTube. Sony, Samsung, and Panasonic are thinking exactly the same. They also think Life's Good. They just don't very often say that out loud... :D

Exactly my point, it's about profits and nothing more. If they eliminate liability they decrease expenses which in turn naturally increases profits.

That's by far not all they've done nor the worst.

Damn bet fire fighters were dropping like flies.
Hi. No fires right here where I am at the moment. But quite a few bad ones still burning in another state.
Yeah, thankfully they didn't have our conditions yesterday to deal with on top of fighting those fires.
Im not right up on all the things Nestlé have done, I'll have a look see.

As long as profits aren't being readily abused to bring down economic society like happend with the banking crisis or to harm public health like the war on vaping or to fuel the kind of political subsystems that enable social injustice and hopeless poverty, mining large-scale private data far beyond the extreme in order to gain totalitarian style manipulative controls through artificial intelligence endagering freedom of society, fake news, etc., I'm basically all for it.

May want to check out their treatment of indigenous people in S. America around the late 1980's. It was enough to inspire Sepultura to write a few songs off the Roots album discussing.

How you going, all good?

Going okay here, thanks. It’s been mild for winter here, but I prefer it a bit colder. It just makes the weather seem not so bizarre. It’s been going warm and cold lately. I’ve been sick twice already with colds and I normally don’t get sick, so I’m taking herbal meds to breathe and for headache. :blech:

I haven’t even thought about Easter! But the Spring begins in March here, so I guess it’s close! :teehee:

I’m glad the water is clearing up, but it it sounds hot and dusty! Are the fires still raging everywhere? It’s such a disaster, I worry for you all.

Hope you had a good weekend, since being in another hemisphere it’s prolly over already!

No worries about child labor in the US. The kids won't work.

Maybe with immigrant migrant worker kids though...

Actually I purchase Hershey products instead and it's not just chocolate you have to watch out for even stoffers is owned by Nestle. I have had a problem since the California drought when they were bottling water while others were on water restrictions. Paying pennies on the gallon and stating water is not a basic human right if you want it you should have to pay for it. They also refuse gmo labeling while Hershey is developing a gmo free line. The only thing that really matters to these people is your money. Your political vote doesnt matter. They own all the candidates. If you want real change vote with your dollars. They hold more power.

I hate that they’re not labeling GMOs in this country. Hershey’s has good cocoa, imho. But I usually just get organic raw cacao.
Nestles wants folks to buy water? How generous of them. Wow, they’re really twisted.

Voting with my dollars is the reason I buy organic mostly. I don’t want modified foods, thanks!

Not to mention all the farms there it put out of business. No water, no crops. And then IIRC some trouble in Iowa. Man was fined, jailed for making a water catchment on his private property. The government there said that was illegal.

To be fair, not sure Nestle had any input on the Iowa case. It was just something I found rather oddly coincidental given the time frame of both being roughly the same. That and it helped to further illustrate to me at least just how corrupted our government has gotten.

Well at least it was not the face me, my Pap, and uncle "buddy" all share. No joking we all three are nearly clones of that face. I've gone about two thirds silver on top and right side. We were looking at Portals to Hell while ago. Happen to notice the blurred reflection of me makes me look akin to some anime emo punk.

Well off to bed now. I get a shot on morrow, laundry, need to help FIL burn of the hill sides here. Run 'er slow, I'm a ...

I have nearly a full head of silver hair. But no, no actual powder. I even have some body hair / fur that has turned silver although most of it is black. But yeah, me, Pap, Buddy all share the Clooney clone face.

What got rather odd was after I served, Pap and Buddy seemed seemed a bit more in togetherness with me. Prior to that it seemed they shared more with my cousin. My serving seemed to forge us three together and create a new person. Even before she got bad with dementia, "old timer's" my grandmother would string our names along, "Buddy, Benny, Pap". Whichever one was closets saw to what she needed.

Hm, shit. Oh yeah okay, ...

Strange, my hair has a few silvers too.

S'all good sis. We can tag team and de feet the Eeeevil Juul. Or we could tag team and go into a hundred story tall sky scrapper, unleash thousands of gerbils in plastic exercise balls from the top floor down. Maybe tag team and transport @The Cromwell into an inescapable locked room with millions of little brothers asking why.

No, no, nah, ... I got it! We use a billion eggs of Silly Putty and create Silly Putty angel hair pasta noodles, then go dump it all over Washington D.C.. I'm just feeling that most perverse form of evil today, ... good and antsy bored, revving to raise Hell but not exactly knowing what to get into. I'll do something, even if it is wrong. Yep, yep I will. :D

What I need to do today. 1. Get my shot. 2. Help do laundry at laundromat in Spencer. 3. Help Father In Law burn off hillsides here.

The hillsides have gone to weed jungles. The weeds are dry but enough moisture is in the ground, air that clear burning off the weeds makes practical sense. It'll save needing to fight over growth come Spring / Summer. Also the extra nutrients from the burn will help fertilize for future growth. We ought not have too much "trouble" in doing it. It is a matter of timing, keeping watch that it only does as is expected. What is expected is it'll be a quick charring flash fire up a hill, get to the top and extinguish having no further fuel. The main "threat" will be watching for wind. As said, timing, he's already looked ahead and got us timed right. Get it done this evening / tonight we'll have rain inbound to securely put it all out.

Tonight
Rain likely, mainly after 5am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. Southwest wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

It's manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). That company is notorious for having been involved up to its ears in some of the biggest and worst scandals in all of Big Pharma's history... they also manufacture Nicorette so I'm betting both shoes on that they even also fuel the war on vaping.

Getting rid of vaping is kinda the only way they can convince people that Nicorette is an effective way to quit!

Wound up not doing the burn. Her dad is so fickle. Next time he asks for my help I'm going to be occupied, even if not. He knows where I am, knows all needs do is ask and I'll help. That noted if you ask me to help do something, well, do it.

No, instead he'll complain I'm never around to help. My wife tells me to not worry about it and agrees I can be busy if asked to help. She's seen the same behavior. I'm not like her sister's husband who'll go down to his house and set, just set.

Same exact sentiment here. They live no more than a short walk away currently. I'm willing to help if but asked, so as to know my help is needed, to know what I'm to do. If I'm not asked, or you decide to not do after having asked my help, you have no reason to complain I'm not there to help. Then you go and ask but don't follow through, well I'm not going to want help because you don't do what you said you were going to do.

They just don’t want to get sued. Don’t think they really give a shit about vaping. Except when newbs put unprotected mods in their pockets or some other genius maneuver.

Last fall I was ordering some LG batteries and at the checkout I needed to enter my manufacturing business number. I went back to the webpage and scrolled down and there was a long “directive” from LG and who they would the sell their batteries to (commercial use only with proof) I can’t remember the vendor but obviously I didn’t get them.
