Please help, I'm lost....

I want to buy 5 gallons of bulk nic or 5 years worth. Don't know how much to buy or where to get it from. I buy juices that have 3 mg of nic at a 80/20 mix, sometimes 70/30. Nic River has gallon sizes at 3mg in a 50/50 ratio, would this work? I also don't understand what the difference would be going from 80/20 to 50/50. All I want is nicotine that is 3 mg like the juices that I buy, I'm so damn lost on this. I was planning on buy the nic, the pg and vg separately as well but it seems to be mixed already by Nic River. Any recommendations and or help with my purchase is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Buying 3mg nic, adding flavors to that, would reduce the nic strength and the ratio of VG, as most flavorings are in PG. Much more economical to buy nic, PG and VG separately IMO. Then you wouldn't necessarily have to buy in gallons and would save a ton of space. Most of us store nic in freezers.

@bikerboogieman You just asked a question that has a very long answer... Go to YT and search Diyordie and watch his mixing for beginners videos , Write down your questions as you go and we can get you where you want to go..Just for starts when you are seeing 80/20. 70/30 and 50/50 it is referring to VG/PG mix. If you are using 3mg of nic that is 3% oc the mix ( using 100ml/L nic) or 3 ml nic to 97 ml VG/PG/Flavors....I mix at 3mg and with 500 ml in the freezer, I have at least enough nic for at least 1.5 years.

I will do that, thanks. I'm wanting to have enough for a 5 year supply based on my vaping about 300mls per month. Need to figure out how much nic to buy for that amount of time.

About to place the order as we speak. I'm getting a liter from River Supply. I'm awaiting a response from a couple of helpful folks here via pm as to what base to order it in, VG or PG. I want it to be like the juices that I buy on line.

As stated above you want to keep your nicotine in the freezer so it doesn’t oxidize on you. Unless you got a ton of freezer space or are willing to buy a new one just to store nicotine you will do better to buy some 100mg/ml nicotine which when reduced down to 3 mg’s one liter of it will last about the same time. 1 liter should should make about 10 liters of 3 mg unless my math is bad,
But point is that will be easier to store in the freezer then several gallons.

You all are fantastic! Once I find out which base to order it in, I'll do the order. PG or VG???
Most flavoring is pg based but doesn’t add that much into the equation. Also you will lose a few % nicotine mg’s due to addding flavoring. I’d just buy 50/50 then add pg/vg to get the % you want

Buy a liter of 100mg per ml nicotine. At 3mg per ml juice it will last you a long time. Store it in the freezer.
This. Most of use get 100mg nic in PG base. Buying all of the components separately gives you more control. It's also almost always, cheaper. By control I mean final VG to PG ratios and nicotine content accuracy. It also takes up less freezer space when concentrated.

I've noticed a trend with new mixers. They want pre-mixed base with VG/PG, and nic in one solution so they just have to add flavor. I get it. That sounds easier and simpler. It works for some. They even go one step further and buy one shots. Easy peazy, low effort mixing.

When I first got into DIY, I got some good advice. I bought everything separately. It's not hard to mix your own base if or when you need it.. You just have to get familiar with a juice calc.

1} do you have a recipe that you want to recreate
2} Do you want to buy premix and just add flavor
3} or are you planning on mixing from scratch

Eventually I want to make custard flavors. At the moment, I'm just wanting to get the nic while it's on sale and then the other components. I'm having an issue understanding the base section where I select PG, under it, it has a plus and minus sign. I was thinking this meant how much PG base I want, like 10 equals 10% but I'm not quite sure. There is no one to speak to there to confirm.

@bikerboogieman Since you want to hit a pretty high VG to PG ratio (80 vg/20 pg) I would suggest you get 100% VG based nic. This way if you mix a recipe with up to 20% flavoring you can still hit your desired ratio
There’s a nic calculator floating around, do a google search it calculates how much you need based on what % you want your Nic & how many ml you vape.
Here's the calculator Hearts was talking about. https://vccalc.vapingcommunity.co.uk/vapocalypse

I just get my liters of nic in a 50 50 base. It helps equal out my vg pg usage.

I would listen to this advice on the 100mg nic. Once you get that you can find apps and sites that can break down the mixing detail to let you know how much to use. All you have to do is pretty much find a recipe on the app/site or enter your own and enter your preferences (nic/PG/VG) and it will tell you how much to use.

Personally, I mix by weight using a digital scale. One of the sights I use is

https://e-liquid-recipes.com/

On this site you can even enter what flavors you have and it will show you recipes you can make with what you have.

That will definitely be one of the first ones I try as I've found custard to be my favorite flavor to vape. Thank you for this...
CAP Vanilla Custard V1 yummy.

Cromwells Custard
120 ml batch
4 ml of CAP VC V1
1.6 ml of CAP Vanilla whipped Cream
I use 6 drops of liquid stevia sweetener. This is optional or substitute your own sweeteer, Artificial sweeteners do not agree with me.
Add you PG/VG in your desired ratio I use 50/50 No confusion over pg/VG or VG/PG that way :)
add nic to suit for your strength.

Using 50/50 it is pretty much shake and vape. But better if let sit for 24 hours.

This also make a great base to add some bakery cinnamon flavoring and or apple flavoring to.

Thank you. I'll look for those ingredients over at BCF when I do an order for the GOC.
if you like bakeries and custards the Vanilla whipped cream is nice. I view it as kind of like cool whip flavor?

Oh and btw 4.5 years of 100% DIY and I still use blunt syringes for mixing.
Got a precision scale a while back but feel no need to use it.

I will do that, thanks. I'm wanting to have enough for a 5 year supply based on my vaping about 300mls per month. Need to figure out how much nic to buy for that amount of time.

I can buy two liters of 250 mg nic and at my current level of 4.5mg it'll last me 10 years. Do yourself a favour and learn how to mix this stuff up. Also, buying nic in high percentages saves money.

3mg at 300 ml as month. A 100 mg per ml ltr of nic estimated is 9.5 years of nic.
