Vindicator clone spring

I was gifted a Vindicator clone by @jwill. It is an amazing gift and has quickly become my favorite mech. So in the switch the spring is making the throw a bit weird and not as smooth as it first was. Spring seems a little big maybe. Any ideas or input on how to smooth the switch out. Not a huge deal it works great, just looking for better if there is help for it. I know it is a inexpensive mod and my expectations may be to high but I truely love this mod. Peace and love to all.

If needed I believe you can make your own spring. Just use the existing one as a guide and can probably do 24 or 26guage wire.

Every Mech that had a spring, unless silver plated I removed and smoothed the flattened part that makes contact to the housing.

Surprisingly springs will rotate within the switch housing and cause uneven rubbing, sometimes easily remedied by rotating it back into position, sometimes adding a Noalex or even graphite from a pencil...

Even to the trained eye, there can be small particulate from the rubbing of the two materials that you can't see causing a tad bit of crunchy feel... can take it apart and just alcohol wipe clean and assemble.

based on the clone you have the switch from the original works on the clone (my SS clone takes my originals' SS & coppers one)

you can buy the whole switch assembly or just the positive pin + spring off kennedy (again, based on your specific clone)

Idk which clone it is. I came to me without packaging. I am going to Lowe's to see what I can find that might be of better quality. A gentler spring would probably help. I I know my expectations are high for a clone, however it was a very special gift and I really like it very much.

Clean and lube the button. Even my authentic vindicator has a shit button sometimes when it’s not lubed.

Are you sure it is the spring, and not the little bumps/grooves in the switch rubbing wrong? My Vindicator clone only works well with the switch turned to where the little nubs go into two certain grooves, I'll get a picture just in case this is your issue too

Thank you I definately will look into it. Think I might find it at an automotive store? I will search for it now. Thanks again.

The copper contact that fits into the brass switch throw section. Is that removable? I assume there is a spring in there as well. Do these pieces disassemble? And should I lube that as well?

they do, if you look at the picture zephyr posted above, you have 2 throw positions, the other goes all the way throw the switch. you just push the button in, rotate while push to that positions, release and it will pop

i normally dont grease the spring but the inner walls of the switch and the sides of the positive pin. just remember it only needs a bit.

The switch appears to have three components. Which has the different throw positions. A brass piece which fits into those throw positions with a spring on it. And a copper piece which extends from that piece which appears to be spring tension internally. I'm wondering if that separates from the brass piece which fits into the various throw positions.

yes you can separate as I describe above

@zephyr, some switches are brass housing on copper pin, it's the same shape for the housing
It appearz to be three pieces. After you pass the switch through the holes it exposes the spring on the brass throw but has a floating copper contact attached to it. The floating copper contact has resistance behind it like there is a spring between the switch and the copper contact that is after you remove the brass piece and pass it through the switch through the slots as you have described. I will post a picture but my camera phone really stinks.i think that is what keeps constant contact with the battery.

Wouldn't it be the shit if it was authentic? No serial number though. It is the only clone I have seen with a cc switch.
