Smoant Cylon problem

I convinced my brother that vaping is a better idea than smoking, so he bought a Smoant Cylon. When it came he loved it, but after 10 days use, the mod went into runaway. When you hit the fire button, it does not release. When you release the fire button it continues firing as it increases the wattage. Is anyone else experiencing this and if so, do you know a fix? The device will not factory reset. Before he realized what was happening, he burned out two coils.

It's probably juice in the device. This issue has been seen before. How comfortable are you taking it apart?

Taking it apart is not an issue, but wouldn't that void the warranty?
Vape companies (most of them) are not really renowned for that speedy and responsive warranty service. If he's good for now, it might be a good idea to see what they say. I found a guy who had this exact issue, with the climbing wattage and everything and it turned out that he had juice on the buttons inside. The Smoant rep was the one who told him how to take it apart and clean it and that fixed it for him. This was on Reddit I think.

Thanks, If I don't hear back from Smoant, we'll do this. But it hasn't been 24 hours yet, since I contacted them.
Did you try the vendor you bought from? If its brand new and a solid vendor they may be of more help to you/ either way good luck, I’ve had my Cylon since they were released with zero issues and it still gets used daily. Smoant is my favorite mod maker, Vaporesso a close second.

I never heard from either Smoant, or the Ebay vendor from whom I puchased it. Since there was only a 14 day return guaranteed by Ebay, I had no recourse through them. I tried the fix that was recommended here by someone else, but that was not the issue. I have given it up as a bad experience, and regardless of your experience, I will never recommend Smoant devices. Since I was, and remain quite pleased with my GeekVape, Aegis Legend, my brother bought an Aegis Solo, and he is really happy with it. We are both vaping the excellent, Horizontech Falcon King tanks.

Take the batteries out, stand it upside down, and leave it alone for a couple of weeks. I did that with a Smoant Charon TC 218, and a Voo Poo Drag. Both were wonky from juice and both are fine now. I'm vaping the Charon right now.
