my first vaping a mod experience.

mod is a iStick pico 75w
battery is a samsung 25R
26ga stainless steel 316L (i would tell you the # of wraps, if i could get the tank open)
koh gen do cottton
50:50 PG:VG
20w @ 250-260°F

the ring to adjust the intake on this tank is VERY hard to move when on a mod. when it comes time to unscrew the tank to replace the cotton and clean the coil. the ring that adjusts the air intake slips past is 'stopper' making the ring spin and crooked while unscrewing. so i get a false sense of unscrewing something that isn't really budging. i have been trying for the better part of 45 minutes to get this tank apart with no luck.

Take the airflow ring of. Get a rag and pliers. Grab that thin strip at the bottom with the pliers over the rag. That should help get a grip on it

Hope I can describe this ok, I've had this happen with other rtas. I have a pair of tweezer that are really narrow at the tip. I put those in the airflow, hold the top with the opposite hand and twist. Seems to give me better leverage. Some stuff is just super difficult and too tight. I have an avocado 22 that I have never been able to get apart.

many thanks for the idea. a 5/64" drill bit fit in there perfect. was able to get some leverage and spin it free. :D
i'm going to take greater care not to over tighten it next time.

thanks for the ideas folks

Beyond just making it difficult to get the tank apart when you next need to, sometimes if you over-tighten the parts, you can actually cause the o-rings to bunch up or crimp in places where they should be laying flat, and then you'll have leaks around those spots. Just hand tight, and not cranked down, works better.

so far after a little difficulties, i'm enjoying the tank. the middlish hole i'm using for the MTL draw is perfect.
i set it before i put the tank on the mod. much easier that way.

one tank of liquid seems to last fairly long. easy to fill with the 1/4 turn top.
haven't had any flooding issues. no dry wick/hits. liking the tank very much.

on my third build...

first build was 26AWG 316L stainless. 7 1/2 wraps @ 7/64 (2.78mm) ID (inner diameter) worked out to .6Ω
don't know if it's the mod, or me, but it seemed inconsistent. it would hit mild and nice. then later it would be making spurting noises and hit hot. had to adjust temperatures quite a bit. used 18.5w

second build 28AWG 11 1/2 wraps  @ what i thought was 7/64" ID but was 9/64" ID and lost the bit.
coil was crammed in, and worked out to be 1.3Ω
hit quiet, but vapor production was a little on the low side, but pleasant. i think my wick was too narrow.
19w this time. tonight i refilled my tank, and it kept flooding on me. turned out one of the wick's legs(?) somehow got pulled up.

just did my third build tonight.
28AWG 9 1/2 wraps @ 7/64" ID. 1.02Ω left more room between the wraps.
20w seems to work good for getting up to temp quick. i'll let you folks know how this one goes. :vino:

[edit] by the way, the first two coils were still usable. just trying different setups.
