So cool and resourceful that you thought ahead on this. Also, I'm impressed you find it fun. I wish I could say the same : )

This is the main one I'll be needing, for the aspire nautilus. (link to photo included) I haven't looked into/tried washing them yet, so this may be a solution. Washing, and even rebuilding, does work for the little protank coils by kanger I sometimes use--tho they are so teeny it's a PITA. I've successfully washed OCC coils for Subtank. I tried taking one of the Nautilus ones apart years ago, but I broke the casing in the process. It was a humpty dumpty type situation.

Rebuilding tiny factory coils is going to be a measure of last resort for me due to issues of eyesight, manual dexterity, patience and space. It probably can be done with the Nauti coil pictured here, but may be easier to find someone who's hung onto some old ones they'll never use and buy them. That is, if I can't find a retail supplier... I've still got places to look. I can also go back to building (or buying, as has been suggested) larger coils for my rda/ rta.

Aspire-Nautilus-and-mini-BVC-Coil-.jpg

and DER ya go.....

for if the world as we know it comes to an end you have a solution up your sleave.

o ya and EDIT!!!!
so STOP trowing away all your little metal jackets..
and as for cleaning them????... don't bother ...
for it will still taste like crap cuz da wick is already fried.

I'm good on nic for a while yet. I have around 1.5 liters. The ostensibly non-rebuildable ones are what I mostly use for now, yes--like the Nautilus or protank coils. Is that what you meant?
I'd like to be more of a builder, eventually, but I'm mostly just MTL for now. I've gone on and off vaping a few times and want to keep it mostly simple when it comes to getting the nic in.

I appreciate everybody's concern and help so much. You guys are a great community. I didn't mean to over-hype the level of disaster I'm facing here, though. I know I'll figure out something.

Happy note: it seems fasttech will ship to me. I only ordered one pack of coils so far since the only ones I could find say they are a "nickel/zinc" alloy, which sounds suspicious to me.... I feel like nickel is only supposed to be used with temperature control mods?

I have Nautis too. I did mean regular coils, like for my Freemax Fire Luke or my Uwell Nunchakus.

This is the best community. If we’re in trouble and let people here know, I don’t believe they’d let us go down in flames (or ciggie smoke!)

First, thanks so much to those who provided suggestions for my Vanilla Custard recipe, I took some of your advice and mixed my first batch tonight.....will let it steep and see how it is. Started with a basic similar to Cromwell's Custard.

I have some @wildgypsy70 juice on it's way to me that I can't wait to try, but want to get mixing my own as well. I am wondering what to do with the limited amount of flavors I've picked up so far. I have no idea what mixes well with what so ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (I do want to place another flavor order soon so any suggestions to go with what I have would be awesome!)

Here is what I have on hand:
N.Y Cheesecake - Cap
French Vanilla - Cap
French Vanilla V2 - Cap
Butterscotch Ripple - FW
Vanilla Whipped Cream - Cap
Vanilla Custard V2 - Cap
English Toffee - TFA
Caramel Butter - WF
Sweetener - TFA

Please help me make a kick ass mix!

Thanks for the link, Bunny! This is complicated for me at this time, but I'm bookmarking for sure.

I'll hang onto the few coils I have for potential rebuilding. I've had a little success with cleaning, but it definitely depends on the coil type. I used to soak the coil and rewick (but not rebuild the coil on) the tiny protank coils because--as you say--the wicking was usually too messed up to go on with. However, on OCC coils for Kanger Subtank, I've had excellent results just flushing them with water, assuming they are not actually burnt.

I know this isn't exactly what you asked for, but here's a link that might give you some ideas--an old thread, but a lot of good ideas in there:

http://vapingunderground.com/threads/building-a-vanilla-custard-from-scratch.85573/

You might also want to check out wllmc's Game Over Custard (recipe here on VU and also available, I think, at Bull City Flavors) to get a sense of the elements that make a lovely, rich and complex custard.

Thank you, that Game Over Custard sounds really good and is something I might try to mix down the road. For now I was kind of hoping someone would be familiar with some of the very limited flavors I have and offer a suggestion on what would mix well together. Thanks again!

The only one of these flavors I have is Cap Vanilla Whipped Cream. So I'm offering my best guess when I tell you what speaks to me right off, in the flavors that you have listed:

FA English Toffee, 5%
Cap French Vanilla, 3%
Cap Vanilla Whipped Cream, 2.5%
FA Sweetener, 0.5%

Now, if you want to fancy that up some, and you like coffee vapes, get yourself some WF Brazilian Coffee, add about 0.8% to this mix, take the toffee down to about 3.5%.

It would also be great with 1.5% of FE Lemon, but I wouldn't use both coffee and lemon in the same mix. Sounds gross to me. :)

This should be basically a shake & vape, I'd think.

Thank you! I was thinking of picking up some type of coffee in my next order so I appreciate the recommendation. I'm definitely not a lemon person, lol.

I'm hoping to make some bottles up later this week and I'll be trying what you suggested above, hopefully a long with a couple of other ideas :)

It's pretty clear from your list that you want an INSANELY rich and fabulous, creamy type of vape :)

I have some of the flavors you mention & have suggested what I think will be a slightly cheese-cakey butterscotch custard.

cap ny cheesecake 3%
fw butterscotch ripple 6%
cap VCV2 4%
cap vanilla whipped cream 2%
---
I would wait to add cap french vanilla until after giving it a few days and tasting it, since you've already got two heavily vanilla-type flavors there. If you think you want that extra richness and vanilla, I'd try 2% French Vanilla. (Be careful about using more than one V2 or DX flavor in a single mix; I dunno if you're sensitive to butyric acid or not, but too much of it can come across as pukey).

i seldom use sweetener, but that's a personal thing for sure. I haven't tried Flavour Art's sweetener, but when I use the ones I do, it's always at less than a percentage point. 0.5% or less. You can always add it in later and it (sweetener) doesn't take long in my experience to meld in with the flavor. 24 hrs, maybe.

Good luck.

Well, you’ve got the ones for Crom’s Crustard. If you’ve never mixed, why not start with that? You even have sweetener to add.

I'm definitely a creamy dessert vaper. I was honestly just buying flavors that sounded good, now that I have to use them I'm realizing that I need more ingredients.

Thank you for the suggestion, it sounds good and I'll take your advice on waiting to add the FV.

This is why I like this forum, good people willing to help out a DIY newb :)

You may be aware of this, but if you don't have an account on E-Liquid-Recipes.com I'd create one. Then enter your flavors in your Flavor stash (click on User icon in upper right corner and select "My Flavor Stash"). Then in "My Flavor Stash" you can click on "What can I make" and it will pull up all the recipes on ELR that you can make with your flavors. Then I click on the top of the right column and it will (kinda) sort and give you the recipes you can make with the highest ratings. Take a look and see if there's anything that sounds good.

Wow, that's awesome that such a thing exists. I was told about the site, just haven't opened an account yet, now that I know I can list my flavors and it will give me suggestions I'm headed right over. Thanks!

When I started mixing I went there and to All The Flavors site. I just got more comfortable with ELR quicker and a lot of mixers post there. You can search by mixer, key word in flavors, etc. Or you can pick one of your flavors and read people's comments on it, average use in a mix or single, and then all the recipes posted using that flavor. It's quite a site.

When you find a recipe you like, you can "adapt" it to your normal PG/VG and nic strength and it will put it in "My Recipes" page. You'll figure it out. Hope it helps.

Edit: when you find a recipe you like it will tell you whether you can mix it or if you're missing flavors. Click on the blue x by "you are missing ingredients" and it will highlight which ones you don't have. Pretty cool feature.

Just so folks don't get confused, I'm guessing the Sweetener - FA and the English Toffee - FA as listed above are actually TFA ( as in The Flavor Apprentice ) since, to the best of my knowledge, FA ( as in Flavour Art ) doesn't have a English Toffee or Sweetener offering.

For some reason, TFA decided to use a capital 'F' and lowercase 'a' ( Fa ) on their labeling which often resulted in confusion with Flavour Art which, of course, is abbreviated 'FA'.

Clear as mud right, lol?

Yes, you are correct, it's The Flavor Apprentice. Thanks for pointing that out so I can list properly going forward. On my invoice it's listed as "Flavor Apprentice" without the "The". Newb mistake

You guys are the best!

Ok so I have two more questions and hopefully that's it for a while ;)

I'm seeing a few different peanut butter flavors out there. Who makes the best one? (I know this is subjective, but in your opinion)

Last, I received a Sour Blue Raspberry Candy by Wonder Flavour as a bonus with one of my orders and it actually interests me despite the fact I usually only vape desserts. Does anyone have experience with this flavor? I've looked and haven't found what should go with it or would this be a stand alone? If I need to order some more flavors to complement this one I will, but have no idea.

IMO, TFA DX Peanut Butter with FLV Peanut Butter is a pretty good combo. I’m not a fan of most of the DX flavors, but for some reason, this one is actually better than the original. FLV adds a slightly drier note, like natural PB.

I have the WF Sour Blue Razz, but I haven’t worked with it much. I’d single flavor test it around 3% and see how you like it.

Also, on ELR, if you click on a flavor, it will go to an info page, loaded with percentages used by most people, notes and recipes. Great resource!

PM me, I am in Rhode Island, not sure where in MA you are, but you can always send stuff to where I work and pick it up or I can ship it out to you once whatever you need gets shipped to me. The websites probably won't ship direct to you, but they will ship to RI where it can go on from there.

The only problem I see is that each brand's flavor is listed as its own entity - so only recipes made with those specific brands show up. Do you know of a site that just uses flavors instead of specific brands? Or another way around this??

He wants a listing by flavor profile, I think. Not by the brand and the flavor. But every brand’s flavors are unique, nor sure you could do it like that.
Well, if you list “strawberry” in the search box on ELR, it gives you strawberry recipes. Recipes with strawberry in the name and recipes with at least one strawberry flavor in them. I suppose that’s what they’re after?

Must be. I haven’t used ELR really since I’m working my way through one shots still. :turtle: :slow: But I mixed my first single flavor today, and I love it! Yay for LB Peppermint.

I could feel his frustration because if you don’t know the brands and flavors, it can be overwhelming. But you’ve gotta buy flavors or one shots and start somewhere!

That’s why I came to this thread. I lurked here for a while, because I was afraid of everyone and afraid to mix!

PM me, I am in Rhode Island, not sure where in MA you are, but you can always send stuff to where I work and pick it up or I can ship it out to you once whatever you need gets shipped to me. The websites probably won't ship direct to you, but they will ship to RI where it can go on from there.

You are so kind to offer. Perhaps if it comes to that, I can travel to pick it up.

Did you have any thoughts about the safety of nickel-zinc alloy in fasttech coils I bought? Or zinc-nickel alloy in factory coils in general? I'm not using temp control mods. (I raised a concern about it in a previous post).

Thanks again for offering to help with and I will be in touch if it becomes necessary.

The only problem I see is that each brand's flavor is listed as its own entity - so only recipes made with those specific brands show up. Do you know of a site that just uses flavors instead of specific brands? Or another way around this??

I don't know of a site like this, but if you make an account on ELR (very quickly) and then enter the flavors you have into the section called "My Stash". Then you can use an operation called "What can I make", which might be very helpful, especially if you don't have a zillion flavors entered in. (a zillion flavors will give you ten zillion recipes to sort through... :) )

edit: Also, try what @wildgypsy70 suggested above--I just saw it now. It may work more easily for what you want. The gazillion recipes thing applies with this method too, though. It can be overwhelming.

Maybe he should start by making a single flavor or a one shot? If it’s complicated to start with, it might turn him off.

I needed to ease into mixing. If I’d tried a big recipe, I may’ve gotten overwhelmed.

edit: This note is mostly for @jdschif , whose earlier question was being addressed here by Rhianne.

I don't have strong opinions on this important issue you're raising, @Rhianne: the best way to begin, right? Easing in, yes, agreed--but how, exactly?

When I started out, I bought a bunch of flavors (around 30) and just stared at them for quite a while, too intimidated to do much. (Confidentially, I'm still a bit like that. I sometimes wake from sleep with a flavor idea or craving, especially after buying new flavors!).

I started building my confidence mixing other people's recipes--those I felt from my reading would be at least decent.

Having a success or two, however simple, is massive when you're just beginning.

I guess I skew in favor of finding a few recipes that look really great to you and come from sources you trust (tho, admittedly, this may be hard to determine as a beginner). If you have to buy the flavors, buy them--if only so you can start to get an idea of why the author/recipe you've chosen feels those flavors are important. It will inevitably be hit or miss this way. But it's always like that.

Also, I'd rec checking out alltheflavors dot com. The recipe notes, i.e., why the creator used each particular flavor the way s/he did, are better than anywhere else I've seen, on the whole.

oh man, I just saw this! Lucky you and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! I have only a relatively few Flavorah flavors (maybe 20, many of which are more than two years old!) , but what fun you will have working with your new stash! I've had a hit or miss relationship with Flavorah, but the hits are out of the park. Have fun :)

Another trick I have used is to enter all the flavours from different brands into my stash.

e.g. I have TFA Bavarian Cream, and I know FW, CAP and JF are all pretty much interchangeable, so I add them to my stash as well, even though I don't have them.

You then get a lot more results from "What can I make"

Yes, do not use nickel in a non temp control mod. Nickel is not supposed to be heated to the point of glowing. Not many people use nickel anymore. It was designed for use with tc and tc only. It is safe to use in tc mode 100%, but I wouldn't chance it otherwise.

I think those coils are kanthal. The Nickel-zinc alloy designation is for the housing. Just anecdotal, but I used a ton of FT's no-name Nautilus and Kabuki coils and didn't have a problem with them, except for the occasional pack of 1.6 ohm coils that would have a dud. The gold-plated SteamTribe Kabuki 1.8 ohm coils were fantastic, and naturally, FT doesn't carry them any more.

I have 264 flavors so it kicks out 10,005 recipes I can make. That's going to take a while!

In my opinion, it's easier and a lot less risky to just allow for a few missing flavors when you do the "What Can I Make" search.

When you sub one flavor for another, you still have to be aware of the differences in the flavors. Bavarian Creams might be pretty much interchangeable, but still, one might have more or less butter, might be sweeter or not as sweet, might have stronger or weaker vanilla or other obvious flavor notes, so you still need to know what else the recipe might need. If nothing else, mix it, taste it on the back of your hand, and adjust from there.

It is a mistake to assume that every strawberry will work in place of every other strawberry, or every lemon or whatever, with no other adjustments to the recipe. Between different flavor manufacturers, the one most reliable thing is that the percentages needed will NOT be the same. You'll come closer if you're subbing TFA for FW or equivalent, but FA, Flv, Inw, and even Cap are almost always going to be different from TFA or FW. Even as "reliable" as that statement may be under most circumstances, I screwed up a bottle of juice by using FW Wintergreen at the same percentage I had been using TFA Wintergreen, and when I adjusted it down, I still didn't adjust it enough.

Just my two cents. YMMV.

If that is the case, then that is a completely different story.

That's actually what I tried. My son has the flavors, but Idk the brands he has. So I created an account there and listed the flavors in my stash. With 24 flavors listed, only one result popped up (which only had the generic flavors listed in the recipe).

question:

can you SAVE your Stash??
so you don't have to enter it in more then once??
OR even have more then one stash basket??

and SAVE THEM for latter use??

ELR saves your stash as you add flavors to it. Don't know that there's any way to have more than one stash, though.

THANKS ever so much...
LOOKING AT THAT
and thought I have a Lot of flavors to enter..
an me no type so good... soooooooooo
getting it right once would be a mirical in an of itself.
and to have to do that EVERY TIME YICKES

YET to enter a little bit each day would be doable.
yet ONLY work if you can save...

and multi cuz
Example: sometime you feel like a NUT some time you don't..
so a way to CUT DOWN some on how long the list can get to be..
just so ya don't have to go threw all da NUTS again..
