Nic storage in original bottle

Would it be ok to store 1-liter bottles of nic in the original bottles in the freezer from My Freedom Smokes? Or should I break them down into brown or blue glass bottles?

I've been researching and I'll be safer to break it down into 240 ml bottles with cone caps so I'll be looking around for the best price. I probably should have researched first before posting. Thanks for your reply.

A quick, cheap fix, if it is in a glass bottle- possibly for plastic also.. is to wrap aluminum foil all around it, because it will keep all of the light out.

I do this with my skincare samples when I have to rebottle them, to keep them fresh.
Then I get a labeler and label what is inside of it, & stick it on the outside. -It works great if you're not in and out of it a ton- which you wouldn't be.. if it's in the freezer.

I had multiple 60ml amber bottles from vape Id bought when out of town , just washed them and reused them ( wrapped in foil and stored in a rubber sealed locking plastic container in the freezer better safe than sorry ) .. I only buy 240ml at a time of nic, since it's just me.

it is just me as well. But in a couple hundred days we may have a ~$3,000 Tax on 1 liter of 100 mg/ml nic.
Bills in both Senate and house on the matter. If passed take effect 180 days later.

I went ahead and bought 8 liters of nic because who knows what's gonna happen.
I suppose I could sell a liter later and pay for all my vape gear. ;)

If these nic tax bills pass they will take effect around the neighborhood of next May. The time that the Deeming Regs enforcement is supposed to be fully kicked in.

Where do you see an expected enforcement date on nic tax, if passed?

both of the bills say enforcement begins 180 days after passage.
And since it is like 7 months or so till the May 12 date...
and an anticipated nationwide flavor ban sometime before then...

Evidently the powers that be can't outright ban nic so they will tax it so high that no one will buy it. Win win for them.

I actually expected them to limit nic sales to licensed tobacco manufacturers, but they make more money this way.

I am sure they will never pass a Tax like this because all the NRT manufactures would fight it tooth and nail. As it is we already have new NRT products flooding the market. Funny how they can make flavored products though. And things like the Patch cost more when I was a smoker and I was paying $10 a pack.

Wow, I remember this from way way back when I was a New ECF Member who was already getting stalked by the Returded One. Either you have a really good memory or had it saved as a screen shot or link~! Thanks for the memories @gsmit1

Approved NRT products are exempted from the bills.

Please provide some proof of this statement as it is not the product it is the Nicotine being Taxed. These are made from Nicotine and even going after synthetics.

As far as I know this new shit called Velo can't be approved by the FDA yet.

IDK about Velo. I just looked at it. Contains nic and I don't know about FDA approval or not, now or ever.

It is so new it can't be approved. Unless they paid off the FDA which could be highly likely.

I was looking for some info on long term nic storage because I just ordered a liter and remembered reading somewhere that the type of plastic bottles the big nic suppliers ship in now are fine for that.

I stumbled over that in my research. WAY before my time. :D

In other words just another way to manipulate everybody into buying what they want them to buy.
"Sure, you can have your usual nicotine. As long as you don't mind cashing in your retirement to get it. On the other hand, we have these neato products over here you can buy in order to avoid the higher taxes."
I don't think there's any other class of people on God's green earth who nauseate me like politicians.

One problem with storing in big bottles is that if you use out of them the amount of air in the grows and is replenished somewhat everytime yu decant some nic from them.
Air is not good with nic storage.
That's true, but I was thinking about like through the next year. I doubt I'll tap that new liter before then.

Yeah remember when you pour the NIC you expose it to air. I have never changed what my NIC comes in and never open until ready to use. I work with 500 ML bottles for years and it is the same the 1st day until the last. No refrigeration just kept in the same cardboard box it came in the basement.

For many year planned storage I still prefer glass.
I can't find it now, but I definitely read on one of the supplier sites that that matte white plastic they use (can't remember what it's called) is fine for long term storage. Glass is always going to be foolproof, but I was trying to avoid having to come up with a container and also hoping not to open it until I needed to.

Nothing compares to the factory seal.
Mine is in the freezer.
I wouldn't open it until I was about to use it then I'd store the rest.

So I'm about to buy a liter of 100mg nic from Vaperstek. They ship in blue plastic bottles, and I believe I've read here that they seal them with an inert gas (without any oxygen) in the bottle. Rather than buy a liter, I'm thinking of buying 8 or 9 bottles in the 120ml size, and sticking them in the freezer. Avoids exposing the nic to air when transferring to glass. So there's trade offs, plastic vs. glass, exposure and addition of oxygen or not.

Good idea or not?

You'll spend a lot more money for the same amount that way though.

I thought of putting glass marbles in the bottle to take up the air, but then you'd lose a bunch to the marbles.

Not really. A liter is $79.99 ($0.079/ml), and 8 bottles of 120ml is $79.92 ($0.083/ml). Shipping is free on either order. So same price but losing 40ml of nic by breaking it up into 8 bottles.

I don't have any marbles. I've lost them.

I guess the biggest question I have is will their blue bottles keep out oxygen and not burst or crack in the freezer vs. transferring to glass and introducing oxygen during the transfer. The cost difference is not an issue. I've got an email to them asking about this, but wanted to get opinions here.

The bottles should be fine in the freezer.

@Huckleberried are the blue vaperstek plastic 120ml nic bottles OK to put in the freezer?

I seriously doubt they'd be using a plastic that cracks in the freezer when they pretty much know that's where you are going to put it.

In all honesty, I don't know the answer to that question. I've just always transferred mine to glass for long term storage, I just opened up some that I transferred in 2015. The bottles are a pretty thin plastic, but I'm sure if they were emailed, they'd respond to that question. No doubt a lot of people would like to know.

I did email them and got a response from Janine stating "The bottles that we use are safe to store in the freezer - the nic doesn't expand and they do not leach product."

I buy a couple bottles of 100mg/ml in 150ml bottles and keep one in the desk and the other 2-3 in the fridge... last 150ml bottle lasted nearly 6 months for me in my desk with no discernible taste differences or throat hit change, small color shift, but that is normal and it didn't go from clear to pink, went from clear to just slightly off clear.

I was once worried about plastic in the freezer and I just figured the fridge was a good compromise... never saw a plastic anything get effed up in the fridge... well minus that one left over that got buried behind stuff... sort of tossed that nasty plastic container lol

This is the thing right here. Does it leach? When I was first buying liquid salts that was what I was researching. I know that PVC based plastics leach into what they contain for instance. Fatty foods being really bad.

I though it was LNW, but I can't find it now. It was stated that the plastic bottles used were medical grade and didn't leach except maybe under excessive heat. You'd think that any seller worth buying from would use such bottles. LNW sends their sealed bottles also sealed in a foil envelope. Here is my last 500ml bottle transferred to a clean glass syrup bottle (which I now wish I hadn't done) along with a recent liter. That's the color LNW salts always comes with. That's been in the freezer for like 6 months.

I label all my nic bottles with something like "Danger 100 mg nicotine may be fatal if misused".
I may not live forever and whomever cleans out the freezer...
