Squonkers are Bonkers

I'm back bitches :) I stopped vaping for 4 months. Went back to smoking. Decided to buy a sunbox kompakt again. With a no fear unlimited rda. I miss this hobby.

Just got a Geekvape Aegis Squonk!

gvsquonker.jpg

The rba that came with it takes double coils and when I built it with the provided coils it said it was .19 ohms. Should I be concerned at the ohms being so low? I can rebuild it if I need to with different coils. I figured I'd ask here cause y'all are the folks that know squonks!

Being a regulated mod, ohms isn't all that important. As long as you can get a hit you enjoy off of those coils, all should be good. If the ohms go too low on a regulated mod, it will give you a warning and not fire.

regulated mod, so watts matter more

15amp battery = 45 watts or lower
20amp battery = 60 or lower etc

if you are not used to such low ohms, you might plain not like it that way though

You could not leave me be, could you?:giggle::) No, got to go and show a No Fear Unlimited RDA. I usually steer clear of RDA with less than 20 mm diameter. This one though appears like one I might be able build on. Found it as a styled version on a few sites for +/-~ $10 shipped. Even if I need to PIF it, no great loss cash wise for me to try it out. Just might on my next spree.

Damn shinyitis.

Has anybody tried the Asmodus Thesis Barage RDA yet? It's a single coiler with top type of airflow, looks non adjustable. I was intrigued with the (point).Blank but never got one. I more interested in how this Barage performs though.

I can't find a photo of the inside of the barrel. From a video, it looks like a reduced chamber with tubes going down to where the angles are.

I almost ordered one of these - I'm interested too.

I got a .Blank, and almost immediately shelved it.
Now that you reminded me, I'll try one more build on it...but that and a ReloadX (that one was a clone to try) were both flavor fails for me... You never know - sometimes, it just takes a different approach. I'm kind of enjoying a GR1 at the moment that had been packed away for quite a while, lol.

My problem is a weird collection of counter-intuitive preferences:
I like a big fat 810 driptip
I don't like big deep juice wells - I'm a squonker, but also find I get better results with a pretty low coil/short wick rda
I vape mechs, and I HATE ramp-time, so I run pretty "low mass" builds, lately that means single coil and sometimes single wire.

The GR1 has always been one of my staple RDAs. I've never had any issues with them, and always got stellar flavor from them. But I could see someone disliking the tiny 510 set up they come with, but I love that drip tip myself. I tend to stick with a 3x28/40 fused clapton at around .25 ohms ran on a mech, it is my favorite build for it.

Yeah - I kind of wish the cap was flat - I have some tips that are 510 on the bottom, but 810-ish on top - but that looks stoopid when the cap diameter steps down like that, lol.
But yes - excellent flavor. My only complaint is probably avoidable if I did a smaller coil or a little less wick - it seems to get VERY wet all over the place inside, almost ready to seep out (the cap is pretty loose).

Update - thanks @Just Frank for the prompt - the .Blank is back in rotation! Much much better with a different coil.
Maybe even didn't get cleaned well enough before - but honestly I think the coil was the culprit...
Now, I like it.
Super easy build deck. Very functional and simple afc/cap. It "locks" the cap in position, then you have like 1/8 of a rotation that adjusts airflow - no spinning, etc...if you go past full open, you're unscrewing your rda. Works very well.
Flavor, even closed down air, is not as intense as with a good small chamber, air-to-bottom-of-coil design - but that's to be expected.
I'd call it a "good" and pretty "flexible" (multi-purpose) RDA.

I changed the orings on all of mine to make them tighter. I do this often to most of my RDAs anyway to make them looser or tighter depending. I carry my mod on my belt in a makeshift holster (it's actually a communications pouch, for 2 way radios) and is adjustable enough to hold a tube mod all the way to a HOG. I tend to bump my RDA with my elbow on occasion, so I had to tighten up the caps on the GR1s to keep it from knocking the airflow out of adjustment.

Curiosity got the best of me. I ordered one a little while ago from FT. It probably wont be here for a month though. It was around 30 bucks with the code. I also ordered a Omier VLS, and an Entheon styled.

I do have a cart full of drip tips and stuff I'm gonna put in with Fastech tonight probably - "Candy15" for a discount!

And a day later he offers me this ... now I'm broke

Both of those are super nice, even if you are broke now. My Topside is that same color scheme. Love it.

Got delivery today of the "closeout" Armageddon squonker I ordered.
I already had one exactly like it but could not resist at that price - so now, this one I already had is going to proudly join the small group of mods that go out and about and travel and take a bit more of a beating. The "Road Warriors".
Since it's got a brand new twin, I won't be worried about dropping it or a few little scratches, etc...
