Poor Poor Pitiful Me. Linda Ronstadt.

I’m doing okay. My neighborhood is kinda dead tonight with the Jewish holiday. Here too, kinda. I vaped some 50mg salts, and after a while I got a stomach ache. Could be from too much nic. I only ever had one bottle of 35mg.

I just learned of the holiday yesterday at my orientation. The day of atonement! :) As you can tell I will be working for a Jewish community. I'm impressed with their mission.

They fast for a day. My building used to have a lot of older Jewish people, who were very nice. I’m glad that your job is going well. Are you doing nursing or admin work?

Have you heard his last album Blackstar? I really liked it when I heard some of it a while back.
My tummy is upset from nic now.

Howdy, what’s doing? I’m stopping by your porch to say hi and chat. :teehee: I keep having on and off panic about bans, but I’m sure everyone will figure something out. I have a lot of juice, and I like tobacco flavors pretty much, but not alone as my one and only.
How’s things in the Alley? The weather here is nice, so I hope it’s nice and Fall like there. Big hugs and love your way. Hope the family and Mom are good, plus the cute doggies.

Trying to get caught up on the forum...sigh...if you're not on here during the day there's a lot to catch up on. There's so many tunes in the music thread :gaah: it's hard catching up.
:D Glad you stopped by to chat  . Try not to overwhelm yourself, it sounds like you're getting prepared. I ordered a liter of nic when nic river had their 25% off. Hopefully, will be getting more on their next sale. I started on tobacco flavor, but once I found strawnana all tobacco flavorings didn't taste good anymore. But, if that's all I could get, I would adapt  even though I wouldn't want to :xD: .
No tornado warnings since last week :bliss: . Hopefully will be in the clear from here on out. It sure does feel like fall and loving it :D. Awe, thank you <3. Humans and doggies are all good. Hope your hubby and dad are doing well...many hugs  and much love :blowkiss::hug:

I respect the hell out of you ! And, anyone who takes care of people, rather it be in a hospital, hospice, any kind of care facility. Kudos to you, Artemis and thank you !
Thank you! I had chosen geriatrics since I was 14 years old. Started out as a CNA. I actually loved the CNA role because I was able to spend more time with older folks. As a nurse, it is somewhat limited to time restraints but I'm hoping this facility will be more than paper work. and a med pass. I'm older now (56) and plan to work many more years.

Drinking coffee trying to wake up! Have a great day everyone!

Good morning!

Thank you for working in a very wonderful field! Nurses are needed everywhere! A nurse delivered my first son because the doctor didn’t make it in time and she was amazing! I can imagine you being a caring and loving nurse! Thank you for your time and dedication to a great field!

Have a great day love!

Where did the inspiration come from at a young age?
My brother used to work at a facility taking care of older folks, he loved that job. But, dealing with the all the losses got to him and couldn't do it anymore. He truly had a gift, just like you do

Hope your day treats you well !

Thanks! a nursing shortage is here. Not a lot of folks want to be exposed to the medical aspect of nursing. Of course, most nurses do not choose rehab/or geriatric nursing. The demographics is changing in what people think of nursing homes. Most are trying to survive and are going to the rehab aspect of care. Which means this: one goes to a hospital-has a surgery-no family or friends to help said person- they then go to a rehab unit for the rehab/therapy part of their post hospital stay. You would be surprised how young folks are. Anyone over 18 can be treated in a nursing/rehab unit.

I feel chatty so I will tell you what inspired me. When I was 14 by grandmother was assaulted by a drug addict. He broke her hip. She ended up in a nursing home. The nursing home as well as all Chicago land nursing homes were terrible. I couldn't believe the mistreatment/neglect of folks. My granny ended up with a bedsore the size of a small salad plate. I was out raged as a teenager. My mother couldn't help because she was disabled herself.

I spoke with the administrator and she was honest with me. She said that they have a hard time with turnover. She also told me she would be happy to hire and train me. Yes, I was 14. I really was to young to work but we (the administrator and I) figured it out. I was allowed to take care of my granny before and after my limited shifts. They had no problem with me looking out for her. In return, I also cared for the many patients who needed help. It was a tough job. Nursing homes back then were real shit holes (sorry for the graphic description). Management is always 95% at fault for the crappy care that is obtained.

Wow, Artemis, that is very inspiring ! So very sorry your grandmother had to endure all of that pain. Glad the administrator let you work there. I'm sure your grandmother was very grateful she had that extra time with you
Thank you very much for sharing. A very heart warming story, but very sad.
