https://www.fda.gov/news-events/pre...arette-use-plan-clear-market-unauthorized-non

The FDA is talking like they are going to enforce the 08/08/2016 rule on eliquid.

THIS is how they are going to clear 75% of the eliquid from the market without any push back at all.

If you think about it, post deeming (brought to market after 08/08/16) ejuice is already illegal.

How can you argue against having something taken off the market when it isn't even supposed to be on the market to begin with?
You can't

Almost every, if not all nic salt blends are post deeming.
Juul's patent on nic salt is from 2015 and it didn't really take off until the last couple years.

Think of how many eliquid lines have dropped after August 2016.
Think of how many vendors there were from before August 2016 that are long gone or never bothered to fill out any of the necessary paperwork.

well shit i forgot about that part of the deeming and they even layed the ground work for tobacco flavors if youth rates dont decline... that was why most company's back then just went dark. they didn't want the headache that is now. looks like i will stock up on the flavors i like just in case.

Well, i guess now is the time to get off my lazy ass and start DIY.
I have all the tools, Nic, VG and PG. Need to order flavorings now

Can you post where you get them at the Mixing thread? I need all the advice I can get.

VG is pretty sweet on it's own.
Chances are that you won't even need any sweetener.

Have you tried anything like stevia or erythritol? I use a mix of both in coffee/tea and it’s really sweet. Instead of sucralose for juice, I wondered if it might work.

I know people use sucralose and ethyl maltol but i'm not sure about the others.

I’m not eating sucralose, so I wondered about alternatives. I wondered if Stevia powdered extract could be used, since it’s really sweet.

Capella Super Sweet in cohort with TFA Sweetener because the former has a tendecy to add a little bit of an artificial-tasting side effect, which the latter helps to suppress if using the right balance between them, and, adding TFA Cotton Candy to these two can also work nicely, albeit this greatly depends on what the flavor profile is like (and aside from personal preferences of course).

Haven't tried anything yet. Still getting a flavor order together.
I already had the scale, nic, bottles and so on.
Just needed a kick in the ass to get started. The latest news did just that!

I’ve only ordered nic, so if anything untoward happened, I’d be up shit’s creek. I’m thinking of getting Palm VG online. No PG. it’s like kryptonite or something, yuck.

It has a strong tendency to taste funny with most flavor combinations, but for some mixes it can work. It also adds a bit of a vile aftertaste so I personally just don't like it.

I don’t like it since it’s prolly poison! I use a stevia/erithrytol blend in coffee/tea since it tastes like sugar, looks like sugar and even smells like sugar. It’s not like I can’t eat sugar or anything, it’s just I don’t need it all the time.
I’m really hoping that I can mix up some decent juice!!

Edit: I meant sucralose is poison. The powdered stevia I have is pretty good and you use such a tiny amount.

It’s got every sweetener known to mixing in it. But I pass on the sucralose, so no can do for me. It’s supposed to taste great, though.
Capella Super Sweet has sucralose in it, but it is very potent, and it doesn't gunk up my coils, or barely. Use only just enough TFA Sweetener together with it to make the artificial effect [caused by the Capella Super Sweet] go away, because TFA Sweetener does gunk up my coils a lot faster.

Someone mentioned something called Sweet that’s meant to be good. I just want something to add a pinch into a mix, not for a really sweet taste. I think a lot of store juice goes overboard in the sweet dep’t.
I think actual sugar gunks coils?

The quick assertion that everything vaping related is probably poison is why we're doing this kind of stuff anyway in the first place. If these sweeteners were anything close to being as bad as some would have you believe, I'm pretty certain I'd be half dead by now. :D

Lol That cracked me up! Well, sucralose is not something I’ll eat, just because I’m contrary (j/k). No, it’s just if I don’t eat it, I’m bloody well not vaping it.
I’m not such the risk taker with food and drugs anymore, however. :giggle:

Adding actual sugar is not a good idea IMO. Just a single drop of Capella Super Sweet will likely be sweet enough because that's just how incredibly potent it really is.

As a matter of true fact, the "natural" in "natural sweetener" is being very heavily abused by the manufacturers of stevia products. Stevia is used in food/beverages always as a substance, never as a plant... this substance is obtained via a chemical factory process, just like all of the other sweeteners so it's essentially just another marketing ploy.

True, the erythritol mix I use says “stevia” but it’s really erythritol with a bit of stevia extract added. But it’s the most like sugar that I’ve found, so I choose to use it. (Pyure, very yummy! )
I haven’t tried the whole stevia leaves yet, since I’m not sure I’d like the taste. At this point I’m trusting that erythritol is a bit better than sucralose. But it really may not be. The FDA isn’t reliable in this, since “natural” and artificial sweeteners are really big business here. So they say it’s GRAS and that’s it.

I've been trying to dig into the safety related data about sweeteners, as I've been diagnosed with diabetes not too long ago, but some of this data is making me feel like my head will explode, and, I'm guessing that feeling can't be very good for my health, either. So...

My dietician told me I have to put only very thin layers of chocolate spread on my slices of bread. I used to make it a thick layer so nowadays I make it a thin one... on either side. :p The U.S. gov't banned sliced bread in January 1943.

Have you looked into erythritol? Over here, the sugar alcohols are very big for diabetics. It won’t raise the blood glucose supposedly. It’s the best non sugar sweetener I know/use, since it doesn’t have a weird taste (the one I use Pyure doesn’t have a back taste of coolness.) I can use two tsp in a 15oz cup and it’s very, very sweet.
But you can’t find a good cacao type chocolate spread without too much extra stuff in it? (Belgium is the land of chocolate, no?) That’s where the artificial sweetener is handy but you have to research them. Stuff like aspartame and saccharine were FDA approved, but now they’re basically saying they’re cancer causing.
And yes, healthy food is a rabbit hole you can fall into and it costs a billion dollars to climb out!
They should have banned Wonder Bread, it was like chewing glue or something !!

I'll look into erythritol some more. I read about one caveat... not all manufacturers are processing it the right way, but there's this brand called Sukrin that appears to be getting a lot of excellent feedback both here and in The Netherlands.

Yes, without chocolate there can be no Belgium of course. The chocolate spread I've been using almost daily ever since my dietician recommended it to me is this:

choco-noisette.png

I've also been mixing this stuff with skim milk and sucralose powder... it blends easier if you start by adding only a splash of milk, add the rest of the milk only after that, before doing the final mixing. The end result tastes really surprisingly similar to a chocolate milkshake... I sometimes wish I could vape it. I always hated Trump until last Wednesday. Now, I hate him with a passion. Someone should throw a chocolate pie in his face IMO.

Oh, I looked up sucralose at a place called Green Med Info, and they said it might cause glucose imbalance in diabetics. (Merde!)
For having something sweet, look up xylitol or erythritol. Seems like the safest and best choice.
That chocolate spread looks pretty good.

"We must act swiftly against flavored e-cigarette products that are especially attractive to children. Moreover, if we see a migration to tobacco-flavored products by kids, we will take additional steps to address youth use of these products"

Sounds like flavored is the beginning. I guess I missed this statement in the other bullshit I have been reading. As soon as they ban all of this, kids will start smoking again and huffing gas.

Yup. And we know that they will.....they’re in it mostly for the buzz. Flavors are just a happy side thing.

And if kids want to vape, they’ll vape tobacco flavors. This is total bullshit.

Y'all might decide you don't need sweetener, just wanted to add that. I bought some, used it once. Flavors can also be used as sweeteners.

That’s a good idea, actually. I’ve been paying a lot more attention to flavors in cooking and baking since I started vaping. And I really don’t use anything sweet except maybe honey or a stevia blend in coffee.
What a bummer the last few days have been. I’m in shock.

that's most likely the PMTA in may which would remove a vast amount of products from the market

It makes me wonder why they bothered with state bans with Deeming coming right up.

"Called the Ending New Nicotine Dependencies, or ENND, Act, the legislation would ban e-cigarette flavors other than tobacco, specify e-cigarette design standards, monitor the public health risks of using tobacco products, apply existing cigarette taxes to e-cigarettes and direct the Department of Health and Human Services to educate the public about health implications of using e-cigarettes."

no. its the ENND bill.
and its federal not state i believe.
