I use this site:

After you put in your info and hit create banner you can copy paste the bb code (they have two choices) to here:

You go to your accounts personal details and click on "signature"

Then you copy/paste that link from the banner tool website to your signature window and hit save changes:

You'll be all set with the banner (and a slogan if you wish to add one) :)
