Holy crap, I just made the nutella version, but only made the 5ml as a test batch. Lemme look, is there a 5,000ml bottle around here somewhere??? MUST HAVE MORE....:p

Sounds awesome, just mixed this up - but had to sub the Hazelnut element for TFA AP @ 0.4%,
hopefully it works - cheers HIC

Made up 3 of your recipe's today HIC, 3 down and 3 to go - and that's just this afternoon !!

HIC's Cocoa Cookies recipe: dark chocolate cookies, not overly-sweet - excellent chocolate flavor

3% FlavourArt Cocoa
1% FlavourArt Cookie
0.5% The Flavor Apprentice Brown Sugar Extra
0.5% FlavourArt Caramel
0.5% FlavourArt Vienna Cream

Excellent real cocoa flavor and delicious-smelling vapor trail! Vape this at lower power to avoid scorching the cocoa flavor.

For variations, drop the Cocoa to 1.5% or 2% and add other flavorings - like peppermint, orange, peanut butter, walnut, espresso, hazelnut, Irish Cream - and I'm sure you can come up with other ideas. A favorite of mine is Nutella Cookies: Use 1.5% Cocoa and add 0.5% FlavourArt Hazelnut.

Shake 'n vape!
HIC pls tell me what can i use in place of brown sugar extra? I don't have any brown sugar in my stash. Will marshmallow or any other sweet flavor substitute brown sugar?

the closest FA flavor (to stand in for TFA Brown Sugar) is FA Jamaican Rum. I'd use the same percent.

Wow i got a reply from the legendary HIC ! This made my day :)!

Thanks HIC, it is an absolute pleasure to read your knowledge on diy juices. I have just begun in diy juices and the first thing i did was to read your flavour notes and then everything became so clear and started making sense. I have already made 4 or 5 of your recipes and they taste better than any of the premium e juices out there. Pls
Keep sharing your craft with us and i'll happily devour it all :stars:

Question:
I had FA Cocoa sitting around for about 7-8 months now. Is it possible that it is not good anymore? And about how long can this stuff sit in my cupboard?

It should be fine, most flavors stored under normal conditions have a shelf life of a couple of years. Just remember that FA cocoa has a residue that settles in the bottom of the bottle. Shake it like it's on fire, it'll be just fine. ;)

Alright, then maybe it was the brown sugar. I had 2 of them, one was older and was getting low. So I used what was left of the older one. It seemed to smell different than the new one, but I couldn't quite make it out

Can i deep freeze my concentrates? Will this keep them from going bad in 2 years?

There are too many variables to guarantee that (for example, how long did it sit on your vendor's shelf before you bought it?), but it's true that heat, light, and oxygen all degrade flavorings. To the extent that you minimize their exposure to those things, you maximize the usable life of your flavorings.

I keep my "overstock" in glass bottles in the deep freeze, which has worked well for me over the past couple years. I always let a bottle come to room temp and give it a good shake before opening it, and so far, never a problem.

Does even room light (from an incandescent bulb) effect concentrate quality?

All of the original FA packaged bottles do have a best before date on them. My FA stock expires on 9/2018, almost 1 year from now. So i will keep them in the deep freeze to keep them from losing flavor like u advised. But i dont have small glass bottles, can i deep freez them in plastic bottles? What effect will that have on the concentrate?
Also, what about the smell of the refrigerator seeping into the bottles? The smell of other frozen food items in the refrigerator? Is that a possibility? How to avoid it? I don't want my concentrates to smell like frozen meat or garlic puree lol o_O

If you're keeping them in plastic, maybe test a bottle first to be sure it doesn't get brittle when it's that cold. You put your bottles in zip-locks and/or some kind of storage bin to better isolate them from other stuff in your fridge/freezer.

When I first started DIY I bought from several sources. Some came in glass, others came in assorted plastic bottles. I've rarely had flavorings "turn bad," but when I have, they were ones I had in plastic bottles. That's why I use glass for longer-term storage; I can be sure it won't leech & surrounding stuff won't penetrate the bottle. Many of my most-used flavorings are in plastic, but even for those, I'd use only glass if I weren't too lazy/cheap/busy to transfer them all.

I can't speak for all flavors but the owner of real flavors super concentrates said his flavors are good for 12 - 18 months in a cool dark place or 3 - 4 years in a fridge, and he said to never freeze them as they could separate.

as they "could" separate.
IDK, HIC is a pretty darned good DIY'er. If he's been deep freezing them and having success, I wouldn't have a hard time trusting it. But then again, there may be an exception. I do like the idea of not having to wait for it to get to room temp so long. When I have an idea on mixing, I don't wanna forget (it in my old age), waiting on a flavoring to warm up haha

I have no knowledge about this deep freezing of which you speak WRT to the OP but the RF SC line of flavors I was speaking to is completely different from most others as they don't use pg for their base. They are thin like water (Specific Gravity is near 1.0x) and have a fair amount of alcohol in them. Freezing will likely have a far different effect on alcohol based flavors over pg based flavors. I would think pg dominant flavors would be fine in a freezer but I can't say for sure so I defer to the experts.

Oh, really? I'm a little new to DIY, and didn't know that. Thank you so much for that info! I haven't tried freezing them yet, and now glad I haven't. You've helped me tremendously!

*cough*

If anyone has a freezer cold enough to actually freeze any flavoring into a solid, please post a photo. ;)
The freezing point of PG-based, VG-based, and alcohol-based flavorings is far, far colder than a household deep freeze.
Yes, cooling a solution may cause separation; menthol crystals may form in menthol flavorings, for example.
However, bringing the closed container to room temp & shaking it before opening will return it to its original homogenous self.
I've often seen warnings about cold temps, but it doesn't make much scientific sense & I've never seen any proof of it.

i havent and wont try freezing any of my pg or alcohol flavor concentrates. If they do go 'bad' some years from now and I use them I doubt I would notice or care.
