well i think i found the best for me method for the unity and the RDA...
in the rda i use 3x firebolt 2 top 1 bottom cut the bottom to the edge of the mesh trim top to barely touch the deck. perfect for days if not weeks squonking. i run it at 40 watts and i am happy with that.

in the rta i switched to the 316L
same amount of cotton 2x bottom trimmed flush with outer edge of the deck then angle slightly stuff it in and forget it. top is cut flush with the inner ring of the well edges matched to the same inner ring. tuck the longer fibers i am currently running it on my 250c at 450 F 40 watts and i am happy with that.

the one thing i make sure of is that the well is only half filled with cotton across the bottom edge once stuffed. the top is fluffy as can be.

Air flows wide open on both...

still experimenting with trim and placement in the unity the RDA could go higher but i am a chain vaper so it stays nice and warm.

The RDA I can get rocking no problems with rayon. Have it on my Drone right now with an OFRF SS mesh coil at 110 watts 450F and am getting amazing flavor and clouds. The RTA... not so much. But I guess I will keep trying

I'll throw a build in it tomorrow and take pics before I close it up, see what the consensus is.

I have a Glaz coming tomorrow too so that gives me something else to play with as well

I wonder if the problem is because I use rayon wicking. It doesn't swell up like cotton does when wet, rather it collapses.
This time I have straight cotton, but when I did use rayon before it was in combination with cotton too, like Bob. I'm with him. I don't think rayon by itself would work well with the Unity. The wicking needs to swell into the cap for those little holes.

I do have some cotton. I'll try a combo. Thanks for talking me off the ledge, gang!

After your frustrations with the rda, I'm glad to see you can get the rta to run the higher watts you wanted.
Yeah, we wound up on opposite sides of this fence lol.

I like the unity alot now. Still not my personal favorite, but folks are different with different preferences. The Lotus is still my fav.

With the 316L OFRF strips in TC on my Pico S with Arctic Fox, the Unity is even better though.

I've been trying to find a Lotus... can't find one anywhere

I can see somebody just not liking the Unity maybe, but I hate to see you get rid of it because of leaking. It doesn't have to be. Believe me, if I can get it down, anybody can. The whole mesh thing was the bane of my vaping life for months. Once you get a grip on how it wants to be wicked, it really isn't bad. Leaking is from the holes in the cap, (I promise) but those holes help it wick well though too. Watch MrMeowgi's video too. He was one of the first to get one here.

Ok. Just threw a build on the Unity but haven't juiced it up yet. I took a strip of KGD and a strip of rayon. Flattened them both out then rolled them together with the rayon on the outside. Fluffed out with tweezers & trimmed. Thoughts before I juice it up:

in my opinion, I'd say pull a little more into the bottom and trim the top more so the cap doesn't pull on the cotton when tightening it down. Take a look inside the top cap. All you need on top is to block those holes with cotton.

I trimmed it down a bit some more, juiced it up... it seeped a little bit but not much. I'll get it eventually. But damn the flavor with this thing.

The seeping might go away. You also MIGHT get a little bit when refiling it that goes away after a hit or 2 also.

Fill the ports, cover the holes and not so much on top that it pulls the cotton away from the holes when you screw it together. In a nutshell, that's the three keys to wicking this rta. At least that's how it's been for me.

Something I noticed. Just rewicked and went to screw the deck in, didn't quite fit so I fiddled around with it till it seated. It leaked, figured I cut it short. what I realized was when you put the base in the poms get pushed down towards the lower ports, that is a good thing, when I lifted it a little to seat it the poms are pulled up and flare out. All had to do was adjust the poms down, insert and no leaks. So a good wicking can leak just that easily.

Just got a Unity and got lucky the first time wicking, no dry hits (yet) and really great flavor using the Ofrf Nexmesh SS316L. On the Paranormal I can run up to 60-65w comfortably, but 70w starts to get a little dry about 3 seconds into the draw. But in TC, 60w at 480 is perfect. Nice RTA.

Any comments on the wicking would be welcome.

I bought one a while back now and I used it twice, I am definitely not a fan. I am selling mine just to get rid of it. I thought I would jump in the mesh game but found out it is not for me. I like building my coils and taking pride in my work. Also, I couldn't for the life of me stop that thing from flooding. I don't like to get flooded all the time.

That's too bad. What color is it?
