No I don't think you're gonna sell that to the rank and file democrat

In case you've missed me saying it time and time again. I do not give any fuck regarding any label anyone puts on people, much less of any fuck regarding politics. Ergo, I would not be "selling" my idea of equality under the Law to any so "alleged this or that" I would though apply it on a case by case basis with anyone I had any dealings of any kind.

Eventually people coming to know me would know I treated all equal under the Law, inclusive of myself. Eventually, perhaps that example I'd live would create ripples that offer up change.

Please though, stop cluster fucking me into "this or that" grouping, classing with your perceived notions of politics. I do not give a damn, a fuck, or a shit about politics. To me it is simply people. You have people that are greedy and evil. You have people that are not those descriptors. I'll keep my business, dealings with those people not greedy and evil. Damn the politics of it.

I am not political. I'm trying to solve problems and offer what I hope are possibly halfway decent suggestions for solutions. Beyond that you can go fuck off to all your politics porn all you desire, leave me fuck out of that shit as it's not my shit. I do not care about politics. Stop people being evil, that's what I'm focused on more than naught else.

I kind of agree with EJ. It all needs routed out and new system put in place. I'd like to see some form of resource based economy where everyone has access to everything but owns nothing. The Earth is meant for all of us, this generation and the next.

All the corruption over power seems ultimately to boil down to control being the prize. I say grant everyone the right of Queen or King as fits. Justice for the most part could be served by juries of 12 with a judge being the tie breaker, and these juries would the town/village elders nominated case by case. about 95 to 98% of it would be based upon simple "contracting" rule.

You break an oath or contract this goes against your reputation until a town/ village stops "doing business" with you, towns could tell neighboring town of your "twisted" dealings. Eventually you'll either catch on or starve, except that won't starve as society as a whole will still offer you the "basics" of life. If you want access to better goods, services you'll need to rely upon your merit.

I've looked at a system called Ubuntu Contributionism. Yeah, I see the "ism" and nearly cringe away as well. Still it seems to hold some merit and be looking to go in a direction that I see could be sustained and offers equality to all. Barter works as mid gap economy along with gifting, PIF, I've even thought time based money would help ease to a no money society.

I can admit though. I'm one person alone and granted I'll not have "all the answers". I think though we all ought to start trying "something different" as we can all seem to agree that what is the "here and now" is going to Hell. This will be exacerbated with the impending onset of full automation, there will a purge of human employees as automation takes over due to "capital" not wanting to pay humans $15 hrly plus benefits.

We can thank those McDonald's workers demanding that for the rush to bring automation on quicker. I think "capital" might have agreed to stay $10 hrly with benefits, but, as usual greed set in. People desire access to "better", "more". They want "control". Well they'll still not get having all the copious "free time" they'll have without "just over brokes - jobs". No, they'll have to be finding ways to simply survive. I don't think our "social safety net" as it stands will last much longer. Which is another shame posited directly at the feet of greed.

So in short, yes, think I agree with EJ. It all needs burnt down, let nature renew herself as I've posted a few times before. I think ultimately people will surprise themselves. I especially like these nuggets of wisdom.

“It is difficult to bring people to goodness with lessons, but it is easy to do so by example.” ― Seneca

“It is a rough road that leads to the heights of greatness.” ― Seneca

“It's not because things are difficult that we dare not venture. It's because we dare not venture that they are difficult.” ― Lucius Annaeus Seneca

“It is the power of the mind to be unconquerable.” ― Seneca

“True happiness is to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future, not to amuse ourselves with either hopes or fears but to rest satisfied with what we have, which is sufficient, for he that is so wants nothing. The greatest blessings of mankind are within us and within our reach. A wise man is content with his lot, whatever it may be, without wishing for what he has not.” ― Seneca

Yes, I'm a stoic and cynic at times. *chuckles* No one can be perfect. :)
The problem isn't the system the problem is we have let evil mean subvert the system...install a new system...the evil men will subvert that system..private ownership isn't a problem..greed and theft are the problem...as for burning down the system wow great plan as long as it isn't you or your kids getting caught in the flames of that fire...the whole point of what alot of us are doing here is trying to figure out a way to AVOID burning shit to the ground.....anyone whose ever built anything can tell you it's a fuck of alot easier to tear shit down than it is to build it.

yeah well though you don't "self identify" in any particular group...the reality of the world is...alot of people do....and it is odd for someone who says they're not political and hates that shit...to be on...a political thread.....

Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn't mean politics won't take an interest in you.

This is the troll pit. Anyone that disagrees with another is promptly put down for who they are, rather than their point of view. The only friendly banter will be between the right wing extremists that fail to recognize that anyone can be a centrist. Example? Look at "pulsevape". That human piece of shit is so closed minded that he makes Hitler look like a saint. Casketcase is no better. If they had their way, ej and I would be banned from this thread, just for the crime of not being right wing extremists.
I think when you look back at you and ejs rhetoric to my remarks, I didn't get "abusive" to you. You insisted that someone was a terrible person - with no factual basis. I stated the facts and you and EJ tried to go ham on me, just to realize I'd kick your teeth in with logic and reason. It was you that said I'd not be in the same room with you, and why is that? Would you attack me? I can assure you, that once you did, the last thing you'd remember before waking up from a coma was your face meeting the ground.

Do you live in America? Do you believe that you're innocent until proven guilty? How about the rule of law? Do you think, for a second, the mere mention of the following: rape, child molester, racist, Nazi, Hitler, or whatever buzzword the left decides to use - doesn't ruin someone's reputation BEFORE they've actually proven themselves to be innocent of the allegations? If you think they don't, think again.

If you honestly believe any of that shit you claim to believe, you'll have seen firsthand, I shit on both extremes. Your blind hate towards an elected official or anyone for that matter, on what grounds again? Because they own more than you do - is envious. Envy in it's entirety is ugly. It's also a sin of you're a religious person.

BUMP!

Holy flying donkey chips. Someone actually comprehends life, and just maybe, hopefully, "live and let live"?

Thank you for stating the above. Hopefully it can deescalate here on this forum. It saddens me to see all the vitriol slung on this forum. Again, thank you.
That was the point. Live and let live... And try to do it respectably and responsibly. Like - what more can you ask for?

I do comprehend life very well, I have seen the best and the worst humanity has to offer and we continue to go out of our way to impede on one another's rights and privileges without prejudice.

We call commodities "human rights" blindly. While at the same token trying to abolish everyone else's human rights to speak up.

Quite honestly, as stated earlier as well. I have started moving to the right because the left has gone way outside of reasonable at this point.

So no realistic answers then?

I'm sorry I just can't subscribe to the concept of burning it all down & wiping out half of humanity & retreating to villages as the only result is that you would starve to death. Both nature & Humans seeking power abhor a vacuum & your little villagers would wind up killing and eating each other until the next village over wiped you off the map to take what is yours, or you were given a choice to become a Muslim or die.

Sorry that just isn't gonna work for me, but I'll give you credit for typing up something. More than I've seen here for ages from those that reside in the thread. Perhaps you should consider disconnecting from the internet & moving to a commune on a pot farm in sunny Cali? Seems like the easiest way to realize your dream.

Anybody got some more realistic suggestions?

I didn't want to state the obvious...thanks for doing it...I was trying to firgure out how we trade for barrels of oil for our cars with chickens and vegtables, and not get shot by an oil shiek.
Of course if you really wanted to live that way.I think there are thousands of places in the third world that you could, so why live in the most industrialized capitalist country on the planet?

That actually is why we sort of invaded this safe space to a degree, to engage the left in discourse to exchange ideas & viewpoints & hear their ideas for solutions, but so far ain't seen a single one from anyone including every one of the mods (except for Sick on occasion) who listen to our suggestions, yet offer no real solution to curb the dangerous behavior of the left & bring them to the table to find common ground. You who identifies as old left & now you classify as libertarian and we agree on most points.

Trump was old left, a Democrat for Decades & Dems begged him to run for President time & again until the party ran to the left in collusion with the witch & he had no choice but to go right. Doesn't mean he isn't the same person he always was. He can't get the left to work with him to find reasonable solutions to almost anything except apparently Red Flag Laws & Gun control & as soon as he ties that to immigration reform, that will fall apart... Hopefully.

I've seen Pulse asks the question time & again & he is justifiably pissed off he can't get an answer... How do we find common ground with a group who has gone insane & cannot hold a reasonable discussion of issues because they are either low information voters, actively participating in subversion, or unable to discuss issues reasonably? All we hear is Racist, Troll, White Supremacist, Misogynist, etc & what we consider racist threats again white people that are just every bit as bad as calling someone the word (but Mods do nothing about that behavior) and a foreshadowing of an actual planned future genocide in the making that Democrats are promoting...We literally have a sitting Congressman & Presidential Candidate publishing the names & addresses of Trump Donor/supporters after a mass shooting in an attempt to get someone killed when the inevitable happens. Not one voice from the left condemns this rhetoric or calls on him to resign his office.

I personally hope the hell Trump starts tossing these jackasses in jail wholesale & mobilizes the National guard to take these ANTIFA jackasses off the street once & for all. See how fast the left comes to the negotiating table then. If they don't - fu*kem. Enough is enough.

215293_5_.jpg

Trump should have lobbed a missile into the middle Eric Smidt's Google EcoSummit to take out a good portion of the elite pulling the strings on this shitshow & nipped this crap in the bud before it gets any worse.
I still to this day consider myself a classic liberal (centrist). Because I believe in Justice for all, freedoms and liberties for all, and all that stuff that was given to me by God and the founding fathers...

Now that's not to say I don't have conservative views as well as progressive views... I just have a fair balance of both to keep me centered. Of course I could list a few of my ideals... But I think I've gotten the point across well enough.

As for solutions, really, there are none. We can hope for the best, really. If one side doesn't want to enter reasonable discussion with the other, then there's really nothing else we can do but be bystanders in it.

I once worked with this guy...and we had both grown up dirt poor in the rural southwest...we were trading horror stories of going to the outhouse in the middle of snowstorms in the winter and heating bath water on the stovetops....and he turned to me and said.." central heating is the single greatest invention of humankind"....that back to nature shit is fine on a sunny day in the spring with the flowers blooming ...it's quite a different story when you find yourself chopping wood before sun up on a December morning with 3 feet of snow, because the house is as cold as a witch's tit....I can live that way..I've had to, and enjoy it....but most people won't ....given the choice of being able to flip a switch.

Just out of interest..how many people do you figure you'd have to kill to get them to all go "back to nature".......I mean both the Soviets and the Maoists back to nature and "equality" movements were pretty pricey in that regard....or will it be all "voluntary."..not that I think you would even contemplate such a thing, but rather, I'm trying to point out the abusrdity of trying to put the gennie back in the bottle
You'd have to pry the keys to the minivans out of the cold dead hands of many a soccer mom..

So tell me Ghandi...how exactlly do you have a dialouge with an imbecile fuck who says you're worse than Hitler......don't bother answering ...please..the question is rhetorical.

know that I’m not your enemy here, or trying to be. I haven’t resorted to name calling or been uncivil towards you pulse, nor anyone else who chose to resort with angry retorts.

I offered an option and perspective to gain traction with useful dialogue with one another. I fully accept it isn’t the only way, leaves gaps for peeps to fill in, but haven’t forced it beyond that, it’s ultimately up to you all to take ownership yourselves or continue as is.

I asserted why I was here after escalation, but beyond that have not suppressed anything you or anyone else has said in response nor do I wish to.

so In answer to your “rhetorical” question (taken from psychology today) not all are relevant for a forum but I’ve often found many of these useful in real life situations.

  1. Listen. Listening is the number one step in dealing with "unreasonable" people. Everyone wants to feel heard. No progress can take place until the other person feels acknowledged. While you're listening, really focus on what the other person is saying, not what you want to say next.
  2. Stay calm. When a situation is emotionally charged, it's easy to get caught up in the heat of the moment. Monitor your breathing. Try to take some slow, deep breaths.
  3. Don't Judge. You don't know what the other person is going through. Chances are, if a person is acting unreasonable, they are likely feeling some sort of vulnerability or fear.
  4. Reflect respect and dignity toward the other person. No matter how a person is treating you, showing contempt will not help productively resolve the situation.
  5. Look for the hidden need. What is this person really trying to gain? What is this person trying to avoid?
  6. Look for others around you who might be able to help. If you’re at work and there’s an irate customer, quickly scan to see if a colleague is close by.
  7. Don't demand compliance. For example, telling someone who's upset to be quiet and calm down will just make him or her irate. Instead, ask the person what they are upset about—and allow them to vent.
  8. Saying, "I understand," usually makes things worse. Instead, say, “Tell me more so I can understand better.”
  9. Avoid smiling, as this may look like you are mocking the person. Similarly, humor can sometimes lighten the mood, but more often than not, it’s risky and it may backfire.
  10. Don’t act defensively. This is tough. You’re naturally not enjoying the other person saying nasty things or things that you know aren’t true. You’re going to want to defend yourself. But the other person is so emotionally revved up, it’s not going to help. Remember, this is not about you. Don’t take it personally. (I know, easier said than done.)
  11. Don’t return anger with anger. Raising your voice, pointing your finger, or speaking disrespectfully to the other person will add fuel to an already heated situation. Use a low, calm, even monotone voice. Don't try to talk over the person. Wait until the person takes a breath and then speak.
  12. Don't argue or try to convince the other person of anything.
  13. Keep extra space between you and the other person. Your instinct may be to try to calm the other person down by putting your arm on theirs, or some other similar gesture that may be appropriate in other contexts. But if someone is already upset, avoid touch, as it might be misinterpreted.
  14. Saying, “I’m sorry,” or, “I’m going to try to fix this,” can go a long way toward defusing many situations.
  15. Set limits and boundaries. While some of the above tips have encouraged listening and letting the angry person vent, you also have the right to be assertive and say, “Please don’t talk to me like that.”
  16. Trust your instincts. If your gut is saying, this is going downhill fast, be ready to do what you need to do to remain safe. Look for an exit strategy.
  17. One response does not fit all. You have to remain flexible. Although these guidelines have proven effective in de-escalating tough situations, every person is unique and may respond differently.
  18. Debrief. After the situation is over, talk to someone about what happened.
  19. Discharge your own stress. You had to put your natural reactions on hold for a while. Now is the time to discharge some of that pent up adrenaline. Go for a run. Take your dog for a walk. Don’t let the emotions stay stuck in your body.
  20. Give yourself credit for getting through an uncomfortable situation. It takes a lot of energy not to act like a jerk when someone else is behaving badly. Don’t skip this step!
I hope we can reset and start on neutral terms, I’m sorry if my proposal was offensive to you somehow, in truth I have little desire to engage in political affairs in here whether I agree with points made or not is irrelevant, I wish to stay neutral in this role.

I am keen on productive conversations about it for sure though so you can get messages heard and engage more people in fruitful discussions without things going so far mods have to step in...no it doesn’t have to be a nanny’s knitting association after-all this is VU for fuck sake ...you are free to speak your mind on nearly everything.

Hey ....is there a psycology today article on how to deal with people suffering from Trump derangement disorder ...cause that would really help out.

:giggle: If I find it I’ll let you know ...

being a countries head of state is a thankless shitty job, you are always hated to the extreme by someone out there no matter how many good things they try or have done in their time in office.

So no realistic answers then?

I offered what I thought might be a solution. Get rid of greed.

Perhaps you should consider disconnecting from the internet & moving to a commune on a pot farm in sunny Cali? Seems like the easiest way to realize your dream.

Sure, maybe if you'd go back to primordial ooze I might consider that. See? I can call names and cast aspersions too. Does it help a damn thing? No. Does it further communication and efforts to solve our shared problems? No. In fact it puts communication off. You wonder still why there's no solutions?

I wonder why you wonder when it is so obviously clear. Credit though, you did ask to hear possible solutions. Still like so many others you simply shoot any suggestions down using your tried and test casting aspersions, name calling. Children do that, not mature adults.

I'll excuse myself from the well, whatever the fuck that was, it was not communication.

Why not?

Well, let's read your suggestions for solutions? I doubt you'll have any. Why do I doubt it? Usual case implies those resorting to name calling and aspersions do not have anything else left. I can also presume, draw inferences, comprehend implications and draw rational deductions. Others can as well. I'm merely pointing out that this is something everyone can do. You nor anyone else hold the market or superiority in doing it.

That and you've put me off communication. You've shown me that you rather act a child. My apologies, thought I was talking to another mature adult. I really have to stop over-estimating people.

.that back to nature shit is fine on a sunny day in the spring with the flowers blooming ...it's quite a different story when you find yourself chopping wood before sun up on a December morning with 3 feet of snow, because the house is as cold as a witch's tit....I can live that way..I've had to, and enjoy it....but most people won't ....given the choice of being able to flip a switch.

I've lived that way as well. I used to split firewood nearly year round, rain, sleet, snow or shine. The trick is getting ahead and staying ahead, trying to estimate how much wood you'll use for fuel based on observing nature. I actually enjoyed that kind of living.

oh good oh..I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at Walden pond.....but the reality is the vast vast majority of people don't want any part of that shit....what do you propose to do with them?...as for getting rid of greed wow that's novel I think the idea was mentioned by ..like Jesus, Buddha, and few other folks..but it doesn't seem to have made much headway in the last two thousand years....the fact a guy who could walk on water, and another who had lotus flowers spring up at where he stepped were not able to end greed makes your suggestions seem tripe....oh and thanks for the tip on firewood it was as valubale as your insights into the transformation of Western Civilization..but for poor people sometimes they have to make a choice between money for firewood or gas for the truck...
