Just purchased an aws 501 scale. It constantly fluctuates going + and - up to .2. Just constantly bouncing around. Never holding on a weight. I calibrated and made sure there is no airflow or vibration interference. Any suggestions or is it just time to return it for a new 1.?

I ordered mine from Amazon right after you & I have used it once with the adaptor & the batteries they come installed with as I’ve heard that with just the batteries it will time out. I also calibrated just to make sure & it works, after I add whatever it will fluctuate then settle in.

And I would do as @NGAHaze suggested too.

If you have batteries in it, take them out, plug it in and make sure your AC is not on or any ceiling fan etc. See if it still does it. I had to take out my batteries and use the wall plug. I have to turn up my AC and shut off my ceiling fan every time I want to mix. It's a touchy, temperamental lil thing.

I am on a 3rd floor apartment so it could even be lil vibrations from air conditioners below me too.

If the surface it is on is even slightly not flat and firm it will do that. I have a mat on my bench in the shop that I use for mixing colors and it does the same thing if not on the wood itself and perfectly level.

Ok so last nite i moved it to the kitchen counter and it was dead on. Except for the occasional .00 movement due to a ceiling fan that i can't turn off due to it being broken. Glad i know its not a failty scale. Ty every1 for the help i truly appreciate it.

I put in for amazon to send a replacement scale. It wont stand on a weight no matter what i do. I even put it under a glass bowl on the kitchen counter top. Still was dancing by up to .08. Hopefully the replacement isnt damaged.
