I got one of these a year ago maybe. I couldn't really get into it. It whistles like crazy but maybe I could get used to that. I may have been building it wrong too. I could try new things. Mine has sat unused for a long time. Maybe I shouldn't have given up so easy. I think I'll give it another shot sometime soon.

Definitely play with it some more when you have time - had mine since the get go and it's never whistled

Makes my heart smile to see this thread come alive a little. All I still use are Boreas tanks... All day every day.. Glad I bought up over a dozen of these bitches!

Haven't used a Boreas in awhile, though I still have three of them - mainly because I still use the Merlin daily, lol

I’m looking for some glass sections for my wife’s boreas. Anyone have 1 or more they would let go of? My wife broke her last glass and she took over my boreas so I’m desperate here! I need mine back lol!

Same here, only it would be plural "Merlins".

I have five of them sitting right in front of me, all with a different flavor. I just switch 'em around. Mostly at random. I have a spare or two in reserve. Lots of extra glass.

When I first started using RDAs I went through about half a dozen different designs, all well recommended by various sources, both before and after my first Merlin. They all had some flaw, occasionally serious, often just irritating.

I decided that the Merlin had the right combination of well thought out design, quality construction, build deck simplicity and elbow room, and performance. None of the others I tried did, and I've been un-inclined to invest more money on such a high disappointment rate. (I'm on a fixed income, and $30 to $50 experiments aren't something I can do often.) Also, thanks mostly to the Merlin (Blame it on the Merlin.) I came to the realization that I prefer single coil builds, and that reduces the choices dramatically.

Why mess with success? :)

Maybe if Roxy came out with something new.
