Any advice to a new Vaper would be appreciated

Hello my name is Sarah, I’m new to the vaping world, I’d say that I’m a casual smoker probably a pack every other day after seeing multiple friends and family start vaping I tried it and knew i had to get one. I then read many online reviews and decided on a SMOK morph 219. Once I got it I fell in love but realized there’s a whole lot I don’t know about it. I don’t know anything about the wattage, what milligram,VG/PG,coils, anything lol. I knew I wanted one that would last me for a while I just didn’t know there would be quite this much to it I am VERY EAGER to learn about it though!!!! But anyway if anyone had time, I would love some experienced advice!! Thanks in advanced y’all!!

If you'd like to get to know your device better I would suggest watching a few youtube reviews:

When it comes to eliquid you would want a thicker liquid because that's a big tank.
The higher the VG the thicker the liquid.

On these types of mods most people use 30/70 PG/VG or 20/80 PG/VG eliquid.

With nicotine most usually start out with 6mg but that may be a little harsh.
Afterward many move to 3mg/ml nicotine.

You came to the right place.
If you have any questions ask away.
If i'm not around to answer someone will be.

Here's some links to articles I think be beneficial for new vapers.

Choosing between PG or VG for vaping
New users - nicotine strength questions
Plenty more to look around and read

Looking at the device you're using there's no need for you being overly concerned about wattage. The general rule is you start low and bump up until you find what gives you the vaping experience you desire. You'll likely need to do it this way too after changing out your coil/s / coil head assembly. Doing this will help "break in" new coils.

The device you're using is what is called a regulated mod. This means the device handles most of the work regarding Ohm's Law. There's little to no reason for you to understand Ohm's Law if you continue using regulated devices. It might be good to have a basic understanding of it though, any search engine can point you to reference material on it. There's calculators online for it. Usually though regulated devices tell you in their manuals what the lowest resistance is they'll fire. At one point it was fairly standard they did not go below 0.20 ohms.

Milligrams in regards of ejuice is referring to how many mg of nicotine per milliliter of juice you got. It is the "strength" of nicotine you use. For example I use 18mg/ml. This gives me 18 milligrams per each milliliter of juice. You might do well trying 6mg/ml and if you find that doesn't suit you move to 9mg/ml or 12mg/ml. Six might be too much for you though, you can find places selling 3mg/ml too. This is something you'll need to figure out for yourself. Don't worry, your body will let you know if you start getting too much nicotine. You might get headaches, nausea. These will be clues you're possibly consuming too much nicotine.

Something to recall too, keep hydrated. Drink plenty of water as you vape. PG and VG are both listed as alcohols and will dry you out. As to the ratio of these in your ejuice, again this is something you need to figure out for yourself. VG will give you bigger clouds but it can also gunk up your coils more so than PG. PG is useful as a flavor carrier but using more of it might not give you as much vapor as you'd like. There's pros and cons to each one you can see. Some opt for what's called a 50/50 ratio which is half VG & half PG juice. No matter your ratio, stay hydrated.

I'm sure others will be along with more advice. Please excuse me. Need to get ready to head to Parkersburg this morning. Hope I've given you at least a starting point.

To comment on this part of your post:

Keeping the mod in wattage mode and just moving the watts up or down to your liking is easy. Use that till you learn about other modes and see if you want to try them. Regulated mods have built in safety features pertaining to the batteries being used. But always buy premium batteries from a reliable vendor since there are shady brands and even some fakes.

Your using the TF Tank that came w/Morph as a kit? The coils I've seen that fit it are the .25 mesh that came with, [that you said you love?], .35 mesh, and .5 ceramic wicked. Manufacturer's say a recommended range, but any ones recommended range is the wattage they like, and that's true for any coil - any vaper. Running the coil under the their recommended won't hurt anything, running it close to the upper wattage will noticeably shorten it's lifespan. If you think the .25's are too much, you can try the .35 or .5 with less wattage.

I started with 12mg nic for sub ohm [any time the coil resistance is under 1.0Ω] but before that I smoked a lot more, and have moved down to 6mg which seems a good place to start for a 1/2 pack a day smoker and 6mg is readily available. I second the 70-80% VG.

It's not good practice and is more hazardous to charge in the mod. A dedicated charger and 4 batteries so you can monitor 2 charging at a time
- Samsung 30Q for up to about 100ish watts in a dual 18650 regulated mod- is what I'd do, since they are rated a little higher than the 15A on the label and are 3,000Mah each.

Battery Mooch is THE vaping battery expert. You can find his content here in the Battery Junkies thread, on FB, and around the web.

Things can be overwhelming for a new vapor and you can of course get answers by asking :vino:

Welcome to VU.

I simply add patience. Be patient. it can be a journey with many steps. Some may hit on what works for them right off the bat and be completely satisfied. Most vapers go through phases on their journey and for many vaping becomes a hobby.

Patience is good advice. Smoking is more like shopping for clothes off the rack. You've got a few to choose from and basic sizes to find what fits like 'small, medium, large'. Vaping can be simple, as some said just adjusting wattage. It can also be more complex though like getting something made custom for you. So many options it can be overwhelming. Did you want something cotton, a blend, silk, cashmere? What type of neckline do you want, turtle, mock turtle, scoop, v-neck? You can tailor it for arm length, chest, waist, inseam, where you want the hem to rest. In that sense it can leave people staring blank.

I've more or less found my 'happy place' vaping but it didn't happen overnight. Over the last 3 years of vaping I've tried different stuff. It's not about a quick dismissal when someone says 'try it yourself', you're the only one who can judge how well something works for you specifically. Whether it's the type of coil, basic, clapton, mesh, multi-coil. How different types of airflow feel to you, taste of cotton, how you perceive flavors of juice.

I began with cigalikes (sort of like a pod before pods). Tight mouth to lung draw the way you smoke a cig. Then moved to an ego pen, still a restricted mouth to lung inhale but bigger capacity. Higher nicotine levels are more suited for mouth to lung, lower to direct lung like the subtank with the morph kit because the amount of vapor is significantly more. Think of it like alcohol, strong liquor is more for sipping while low volume alcohol like beer people typically drink by the glass/can, 6 pack or pitcher. It balances out. As others said 6mg seems like a good starting point, 3mg may even work. I started with 18mg but was puffing on mouth to lung smaller pens and I was a 2 pack a day smoker.

Some people like throat hit, others don't. That little bit of spicy kick to the back of the throat is what's referred to as 'throat hit'. If it's too strong on your throat try going to a different vg/pg ratio. Pg carries flavor better but brings more throat hit. So if you're vaping 65vg/35pg and it's a bit much, try 70vg/30pg or 80vg/20pg. It'll be smoother. Nicotine also adds to throat hit so if you're at 6mg, try going to 3mg. If it's not enough and not offered you can try mixing equal size bottles of 6mg and 3mg nicotine of the same flavor, mix them 50/50 and you'll get 4.5mg nicotine splitting the difference. You'll have to find what works for you, if you're getting headaches or light headed try lowering the nic. Not so low that it doesn't satisfy the cravings though or you could be tempted to smoke.

Try some different coils and see if one type tastes better than another or gives you the kind of inhale or vapor production you're after. It's a bit of a process but once you've sorted out which you like then you'll know what's best for you. Adjusting wattage is basically adjusting heat. Most coils come with a suggested range of wattage to guide you but it's not the only wattage you can use with it. Better to start at the lower end and work up 5w at a time or so. That way you don't set it too high on the power and scorch your wick inside the coil. You do that and the taste lingers and tastes really bad. (burnt hit). Or accidentally hit it when you're out of juice (dry hit).. also nasty. Again it's personal preference, some people like a hot vape. Others like a warm vape or cool vape. I prefer mine on the more mild side, slightly warm. I coughed a lot smoking and if the vapor is too hot it irritates my throat and makes me cough.

Once you get the basics down, then mess with the rest of the settings. I don't know what all settings the morph has exactly. There are things like preheat or 'power' levels usually labeled 's, n or h' for soft, normal, hard. That's how the mod will apply power to the coil and get it heating. Normal is normal, soft is usually around 10% of the power you have set in wattage, hard is usually 10% higher. It may last for the first second or so the fire button is pressed. So for instance if you have the mod set to 'h' and your wattage is 60w, it'll apply around 66w of initial power. Helps get the coils heating faster, then after however long maybe a second, the mod will drop power back to 60w for the rest of the vape until you fire it again. Youtube can be your best friend when it comes to looking over a device's capabilities. For example type in 'smok morph review' and various YT reviewers will guide people through the device. Follow your own path.

Wattage isn't a contest, 120w doesn't make the vape better than 85w necessarily. It's all preference. Mess around with it and find what tastes better to you. Various people here on the forums all have their preferred setups, some vape at 180w or 200w with big coils, others like me vape at around 60-65w on rebuildable setups, some vape 95w on subohm tanks with factory coils and others vape at 10-15w on small coils - and all are happy with their vape. I only say that because there are some that see it as a pissing contest and only 'real vapers' run their setup at 150w+. Not true at all.

Lots of great insight here. I'll add my 2 cents.

There's 2 categories of vapes right now.
•High power vape kits like the Morph
•Low power vape kits that are much cheaper in price

The Morph is great if you want big vape clouds. I recommend picking up Sony VTC6 batteries for that and using 3mg or 6mg vape juice.

But if you're just vaping for nicotine satisfaction, you can go with the lower power kits - the most popular ones are called "pod systems". Look into the Uwell Caliburn or the SMOK Nord. With these, you can vape 25mg nicotine or more (look into "salt nic vape juice"). These types of vapes are easier to set up and are much more portable. Very similar to JUUL.

pg/vg- mainly determines A) the amount of throat hit (burning sensation, like from smoking) and also the viscosity (thickness) of your juice. With your device 70-max vg should be fine. If its to harsh use 80-max vg. Higher PG is mostly for e-cip pens with much smaller coils
at 1/2 pack a day with your mod, 3mg nicotine should be lots. I started direct to lung at 6mg, then went to 3mg. D2l (straight inhale) vs mouth to lung (like puffing a cigarette)
Wattage is 100% determined by your tastes. Lower watts for a cool vape, higher watts for a warm to hot vape. I perfer very warm.
