Thank the weather gawds it is you this time instead of us. Oh, yeah, it rained during the night, but at the moment, it is just partly cloudy, so maybe I can clean the horse trough and maybe even the chicken coop... the afternoon weather is yet to be figured out.

The whether types say another 6 inches of rain over the next 4-5 days.

In under 2 weeks I will have gotten a years worth of rain for Dale.

When your dentist office looks like this, pray your proctologist doesn't follow suit.

Well, slight change of plans for what to do today. The grass is getting way too long, so I tried mowing slightly damp grass, but by 2:00 PM, it stated raining and by 2:30 was too heavy for me to continue, so I put the mower away. By 5:00 PM, the thunder was announcing heavier rain, but at 5:30 I went out anyway to empty the horse trough (100 gallons), scrub it clean and refill. Then we completed regular evening chores and we both were pretty wet by the time we got back in the house. The thunderstorms are expected to be in our area until well after midnight. We hit 75 momentarily today, but the heavy rain knocked us down to 58. Let's see... Summer officially starts in three days, right? Yeah, sure...

Was pretty decent here again, below average temps, but I-10 is a fucking mess between Phx and Tucson....widening the road into four-six lanes in both directions. Damn what a mess they have going on....then hit that shit during rush hour this morning, made it ontime, but not a minute to spare.

When I lived in Tucson (back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth), I-10 was standard old 2-lanes-each-direction type freeway. I have a real hard time imagining such an increase in traffic between Phoenix and Tucson as to need six each way. That's more like downtown L.A. Sigh...

I find it hard to believe too...Tucson is basically a shithole....from the parts I've seen anyway. I'm sure there are some VERY expensive neighborhoods there, I just haven't found any "yet"

Yeah, and it is forecast every day for the next week. I need a week of "dry" just so I can catch up on some overdue outdoor chores.
Hear that, Rich...you haven't had many actually dry days this spring-summer.

Yeah, and my freakin' roto-tiller doesn't churn mud very well, and I want those damn squash seeds planted.... and... and... maybe I should become an illegal immigrant to Mexico.

Yeah. But, you are supposed to be dry and hot right now too. OK, maybe it isn't wet, but your temps are significantly lower than "normal." Do you suppose we really are headed toward another ice age?

How long do squash take to mature, lets say acorn squash?

I'd like to plant some too, since all I have is melons and one six foot cherry tomato, may as well keep the LARGE veggie/fruit tradition going into the fall.

It's just the current sun event (solar minimum), which will only last a few years. Then the nitwits can get back to their regularly scheduled global warming nonsense.

Sorry, but I don't think we ever grew acorns. We do Summer Squash and Winter Squash and both are the long yellowish to orangish type that, as a hasty generalization, need approximately three months (+/-) from seed to harvest.

That should work for acorns, which I truly enjoy, especially on the BBQ or smoker.

Funny things is, in spite of the cooling in most parts of this country, the idiots are still pushing their stupid global warming nonsense. Some, of course, have changed that to "climate change" but still want to tax us because they claim humans, not Sol, are responsible for it. Idiots.

The exact same shit has been happening since temps and weather has been recorded, the SJW's and other idiots just don't get it.

Haven't you noticed that some people (like AOC) are claiming that "science" is a conservative lie and we should all pay higher taxes (except her - she demands a raise in her already overpaid salary).

She should be recalled immediately, but the idiots in her district will still be idiots, so I doubt the replacement will be any better.

Sorry. I didn't give a complete report. It rained before sunrise and it sprinkled on me while I was mowing today, and the thunderstorm downpour should start any minute now. Oh well... I think the weather guessers' claim was that we'd get 0.5 inch tonight.

Getting more rain tonight, Rich?....the guessers are calling for it, but that doesn't mean anything.

Was beautiful here today, not sure if it made 100, but it felt perfect.

Yup.

Last night, the rain started about the same time as I was typing that it might happen any minute. Then, just after 1 AM, there was a knock at the door. Being a deaf mutha, I didn't even wake up, but Lannie went to the door to find a young man standing at the door, so she shoved her .357 snubby up his nose and told him to go away. o_O He explained that his truck broke down a couple miles down the road and he had walked here in the rain (plus lightning and thunder and all that scary shit), so she let him in and he called 37 people, none of whom answered their phones and the one who did wasn't going to drive all the way out here, so he slept on our couch. When Lannie got me up this morning, about two hours before normal wake-up time, I met him and he was a very nice polite young guy. Eventually, he managed to get someone on the phone and they came out to help him with his truck. The weather was nice all day, but too wet to do much outside, and now we are having more thunderstorms. I hope no one else drags his ass in here because I am really tired and need to go to bed early.

He really was a nice and extremely polite young man (barely out of high school in Faith, was a rodeo champion and all the stuff - if we had subscribed to the local newspaper we would have known who he was because apparently his picture had been in there a couple times). He helped Lannie with morning chores because my body wasn't willing to make the walk to the barns yet, so I sucked coffee and vaped while the kid got muddy.

When you think of it, it is 75 miles from Faith to Newell with no services of any kind in between and our house is the ONLY house within 50 yards of the highway in that entire stretch. Everyone else has a driveway half a mile or a mile long and 99% of them aren't even visible from the highway. He was damn lucky to have only walked 2 miles in that downpour before finding shelter in our house.

Actually, not as freaked as one might expect. It was just this past March that we had to keep another trucker due to a nasty blizzard. And two couples I never thought I'd ever see again in this lifetime have told us they are coming to visit this summer, so my psyche is prepped for the weird and unusual.

I forgot to add to the above about weird shit that I have recently been contacted by a guy who used to be a member of the Trask Mountain Motorcycle Club in McMinnville, Orygun at the same time I was and we used to race motorcycles together (cross country dirt bike races). I have not seen him or talked or written since 1980 and he just contacted me from New York. How'd he even know where I am? Nearly 40 years and suddenly out of the blue this old friend gets in touch again? Lots of weird shit happening... is the end of the world coming or something equally stupid?

I felt so bad about being mean to that kid the other night... I must have apologized to him about a hundred times, but he kept saying it was OK, and he would have done the same thing, being the middle of the night and all. But still. He was a VERY nice kid. When he left I gave him a hug and told him if he ever got stranded and had to seek shelter here again, I promise NOT to hold him at gunpoint, LOL!

And yeah, Dale, we got the rain last night, so the weather guessers got one right. I think we got more than they were guessing, though. There's standing water everywhere out there and everything that had dried out is soggy again. I REALLY need the cow barn floor to dry out and "un-mud," but at this rate, it's gonna be a while yet. The forecast said half an inch (HA!), and the "weather history" page for Faith said they got 1.1 inches, but I think we got a bit more than that. An inch would have soaked in already. I think we got closer to 2 or maybe 2.5 inches. I wish we had a rain gauge here.

At least I'm not having to water the garden, eh? THAT'S good news! :D

Temps here nearly 20 degrees below "normal" today and, right at the moment, it is only 51 out there. At least it didn't rain on us during the day today and a neighbor and his two teenage sons came over and they helped me finish rebuilding the cross fence, including the electric wires. Tomorrow, I will finish the electric wiring (final 20-30 feet and thru-wall wiring), test it, and get the fence charged again.
