To dry burn or not to dry burn

So been doing this for a while now...fitting new coils but before adding cotton firing it a few times at which point I usually see a Lil fumes come off coil then after that no more fumes. But I have read doing this changes something which may not be the best thing to do. Is it something most of you do or am I doing something unnecessary?

Dry burn to work out any hot spots. If using ss you only want a dull glow. The small fumes I'd say are machine oils burning off

Just using kanthal bro but you do g think dry burning changes something in the metal do you?
Not that I know of. I dry burn with every wicj change. To clean the coil and just make sure there's no hot spots

All wire . yes all wire , no matter what kind it is goes through a manufacturing process . One that involves machinery , machines that need to be lubed in order to work well . It is a safe bet that our precious wire has some degree of oil residue in order to protect it from the manufacturing process and the elements .
