Temp control Vs Wattage

So I’ve never been a fan of temp control and haven’t really played around with it all to much. But I have to say. I’m running Jboi SS Aliens at .13 on a Drop Dead x Voopoo Drag 2 and I may have to hold on to my CoilTurd N80 hand mades until I get over how smooth the flavor is. I’ve been dying to try these coils I just ordered but I’ll run this a little while longer. 520F 75w and I can just pull and pull and pull. No flavor lost AT ALL. Cloud production is ridiculous. I’ve tried every wattage under the sun to perfect what I’m looking for and I can’t find it. You either suffer long heat up time and smaller cloud production at a low wattage or you blast it high watt and suffer shit taste for massive clouds... The stainless does give me a metallic taste anywhere over 72W (with these coils anyways). I think if I could find some nice hand made SS I would stick with them just for the ability to run temp. I’m not into building coils so I opt for hand made quality pre-made. Not really any questions or anything to post just thought ide share my experience and maybe somebody can link me up with some nice stainless coils.

**edit

Only downside I’ve found with stainless is they tend to gunk up quite a bit. I vape a lot during the day and find myself having to clean them every few days with a fresh wicking.

Cheers

I just started using TC with my new (to me) Lost Vape Drone and it's a whole new world. I tried it before with different chips but didn't see the value until the DNA250c chip. No more dry hits. And it puts SS in a whole new world as well. I can dial in the nuances of the flavor so much better in TC than brute force wattage mode. I'm only 4 months into this vaping journey and learning more every day.

Both builders mentioned above are outstanding but option #3 should be considered as well. Get a spool of hex core SS from Advanced Vape Supply and a drill bit or screwdriver and wrap your own. Pretty easy way to build and control your resistance. Great way to vape in TC.

I have been known, on occasion, to throw down a mean SS316L coil set...

And I'm definitely not getting those beautiful coils from a spool of AVS hex core. Awesome looking coils.

Are the mohawks substantially different from the aliens? Need to order one or the other from you at those specs. Please describe the difference.
Mohawks are very similar resistance wise. But that's where it ends. Mohawks provide a warmer, more moist vape, with a catch; they're spitty. If you don't mind spitty, then Mohawks are for you! If spitty isn't your thing, like me, then Aliens are for you!

The fundamental "flaw" with Mohawks is the gaps in the wrap wire once made into a coil. These gaps hold too much juice so the cooling properties of the juice prevents the wire from heating fast enough, resulting in the juice being essentially boiled, instead of vaporized. Some people like that, some don't. I don't. I love building Mohawks, but not vaping them lol

That's what I usually run, 3x28ga ss316L with 38ga ni80 wraps for fused claptons. Granted not mohawks or aliens, but resistance at 3mm 6 wraps is usually around .11 to .12 or so. Good flavor, works well in tc, no real ramp up to speak of. Dual coils work well for me around 60-65w, I don't like a real hot vape. I like tc not just for the lack of dry hits, mainly for the consistency. Especially if taking longer slower hits, I can do it without the wattage running away and growing hotter and hotter by the end of the puff.

I definitely recommend AVS for SS316 wire. Great quality stuff. And if you follow their recommendations for dry burning when you build, you won't get any metallic taste. I've been vaping TC now for 3+ years and can't see myself going back to power mode.

I'd also like to suggest AVS wire. I'm a heathen who vapes SS wire in wattage mode, so I cannot comment on AVS's wire in TC mode (I leave that to the people who have), but I can say that their wire is the tits even in wattage mode. I believe they have a 30% off sale right now too.

When I first tried using TC I was struggling because of exotic metals in the coils I was using. Once I found SS316L it was the best thing I ever vaped. Even though I was a Low Wattage Above OHM Vaper for years I now use TC almost exclusively. Still have many tanks that are VW but rarely use them lately. And to top it off I use a Smok Alien 220W for vaping in TC Mode.
