Inhaling vs. puffing

Hello,

so I'm brand new to vaping and my friend who has been vaping for a few years asked me if I inhale or puff and I have no clue as to what he's talking about but instead of asking him and sounding like an idiot I will ask you guys and gals. So what's the difference and how do you do it because to me it sounds like its the same thing.

To me puff would be like drawing from a cigarette. Pull vaper into your mouth then inhale. Also known as mouth to lung. Inhale or known as direct lung is a deeper drag more like hitting a pipe filled with other plant material we can't mention here

My guess (like Mr Meowgi) is he is trying to distinguish between Mouth to Lung (MTL) and Direct Lung (DL) - some call people who like MTL Tootle Puffers

However, neither method is commonly referred to as puffing or inhale

There is a difference in the way the nicotine enters your bloodstream between cigarettes and vaping.

With smoking the nicotine gets into the bloodstream mostly through the lungs.
With vaping the nicotine gets into the bloodstream mostly through the mouth and nose.
So you can vape without inhaling and still get all of the nicotine.

I would think puffing would mean vaping without inhaling the vapor into the lungs.

what I do is take a draw and immediately let it out like a cigar is this normal?

I do it both ways and they are both normal.

With smaller pod devices I do the puff and on my box mods I do the full inhale.

Vape how you like. I take big inhales while my gf takes small puffs. We both use a SMOK Nord with 0.6 Ω coils. Both of us are happy with how we vape. It's just up to you.

If you're vaping for big clouds, there are ways to inhale that can help improve your cloudchasing skills. Check youtube.

I tried MTL for a while. It was okay, for a while. I blame a brother for pointing me toward squonking & RDAs. Now, I'm not sure I could MTL if I needed to. In fact trying it chokes me up.

Everyone finds what suits them. That is the correct way for you, the way you choose doing it. There is no set in stone one and only correct way to vape, anybody hawking otherwise to you is full of beans and can be ignored.

That noted please do accept humble advice regarding safety concerns, such as battery choice, battery safety. Nobody wants to see another get hurt by vaping. If we all use a bit of common sense that ought not happen too often either.

This is true, I started vaping mtl years ago, done dtl for a while and back to mtl for a while now. Most of the time I do successive hits drawing vapor into my mouth and out my nose for the taste and burn, on the last puff I’ll often inhale. Can get a bit much of nic some times if I’m watching tv and not paying attention lol.

Sure I do DTL/DL. I think though if everyone is honest with themselves, doing MTL/ML hits or DTL/DL doesn't matter either way. Both ways require you draw in from the mouth and in both ways you're drawing in through your mouth. There's always the afters when you DL that lingers in your moth, at least for me there is and I would figure just as a matter of logic it's the same for others.

I don't think though I could do tootle-poofing or plain mouth hits though now. Gotten used to and enjoy using RDAs too much. I'm sure there is some likelihood that later on I might find an RDTA/RBTA that I might enjoy using. What I don't imagine though is going back to Evod style tanks, unless absolutely pushed to them. Those kind of drove me a bit more bonkers than normal, damn micro coils.
