How I stopped vaping? (per request)

I had a few request so I decided to make a thread. Very short story but might help someone.

I worked for a particular company for many years and decided to become an independent consultant and leave that company. At the old company I had an office and this is why vaping was so easy, I has a door and a window so very easy to vape throughout the day.

Fast forward I went independent and now the customer site is 1. Smoke free 2. Has a smoke area in the back of the back of the parking lot. 3. I sit in a bullpen so no open vaping.

In order to get my vape fix I switched to pods for convenience. I used 50mg because I knew my nic fixes would be few and far between.

I planned a schedule to the parking lot from hell, once in the morning, once after lunch and once mid afternoon. (Maybe 5 mins total each time)

This helped me cut back substantially, 1 pod refill (3 ml) was lasting me 3-4 days. Eventually I decided to see if I could do it at home and sure enough I was able to cut back to a few hits every now and then.

This leads to the hardest part, actually stopping all together, first I sold everything off to remove the access to easy fixes. Second I set a date and got some nic gum, and finally I woke up, had my last vape, popped in a gum and went to work, haven't Vaped since.

That's it, simple and sweet, I quit because of restricted access to vaping.

BTW I don't physically feel different, not like when I switched from analogs to cigs.

I tried lowering my nic and have it down to under 2 now,

went nic free for a bit but vaping was not the same I struggled for about a month with no nic then relented and went back. I have never been an indoor vaper (even at home I go outside) so I guess I like using it to get away and take a break away from the work space for a bit as an unwind mechanism ...that habit I would find harder to replace, have tried pods but didn’t get on with them really miss the DL action too much and MTL makes me cough

Pugs1970 recently sold his last piece of vape gear here. He said one his big thresholds was being able to leave the house without it.
Same for me Kingpin! I always go outside just like a smoke break used to be.
Been thinking about trying to reel it in a bit. Not ready to think about stopping. Maybe someday.

No plans to stop.
Retired and working/vaping is not an issue.
Dwon to 1.5 nic level but it is the action of vaping to replace the action ov smoking that I do not want to attempt to drop.
Would likely go back to smoking if I quit vaping.
30+ yr 1.5 PAD smoker cig free for over 3 years with vaping.

Congrats!

Our stories are similar, but I still take a pull off of the high nic once or twice a day.

I switched positions at work and suddenly didn't have time to take a proper break to vape. I went to 24mg nic in a pod from 3mg in my rda/rta's and would sneak away for a few puffs when I could, which ended up being less and less.

I didn't vape at all yesterday so I think I'm almost done, then will have a big sale once I'm sure :)

I don't even take mine to work anymore and don't miss it. But I'm usually tootle-puffing after I get home till bed at night, and that's the part i need to give up. I've been at 0mg since the end of January, so I guess it's just the habit and the taste that keeps me going back to it those few hours in the late afternoon/evening. If I can quit that, I'll be having a massive hardware/flavor sale.

Nothing wrong with that! Light years ahead of me for sure. Just don't go backwards trying to ditch it! :)

Oh, I had no designs on ever quitting. I'd lowered my nic level to 1.5mg and hung there for over a year till I started having blood pressure issues last fall. It was then that I decided to give up the nic, seeing as it can be a vasoconstrictor. I had no reasons even to believe that it had that effect on me, it was a "better safe than sorry" mentality, so I stopped putting it in my juice. It was a lot easier to give up than I expected it would be. Now I think it's just the hand-to-mouth thing to give up. Maybe I should be like Telly Savalas and just start keeping a tootsie roll pop in my mouth. :giggle:

In reality, I am guessing that vaping is healthier than eating sugar ;)

Plus, not so sure you would look good bald:cloud:

Who loves ya baby?
Don't think I'd be able to carry off the chrome dome, would probably get a lot of these....

No plans to stop vaping, not ruling it out either.
I find it easier to not vape than it was to not smoke.
Started vaping mtl w/15mg. When I soon use up my commercial juice and start DIY, I'll lower my current 6mg and see how it goes..

Congrats to @fuseryder for giving up the vape.
However I enjoy the hell out of it.
I have a ton of gear and enjoy tinkering with it.
To me, it's a hobby.
Trying the different juices available is also a treat.
I had tried the patches years ago and I had some horrific nightmares using them so vaping was my way off the cigs.
Work puts a small dent in my ability to vape at will because I haul Gasoline, Diesel, and Alcohol.
I don't have a problem going a couple hours without vaping when driving as I did when I was smoking.
I realize I should never started smoking at 16, a big mistake indeed, but vaping saved my ass and will continue to do so till i'm in the ground.

I enjoyed my nic patch dreams, so vivid and realistic. When I was in the pokey I dreamed about vape. Could even taste it at times.
