Leaky smok v9

Hello all! Im new here. I dont understand ohms and voltage etc. I have been vaping for 9 years without a camel cigarette.
I just like a simple vape that works and has a strong battery. I used a smok v8 for a long time, but kept breaking tha glass tank.
I bought a smok v9 and a tank protector. It works great, except that it leaks likeca sieve. Any help or recs appreciated. Thanks in advance.

is there an extra set of orings in the box?
They might be hiding under the spot where the device sits in the box.

Could be the coils. Older version have been known to leak a lot.
Whats helped me before was putting the coil on a counter top and pressing down on it before putting it into the tank.

Seems to help a bit.

Am inclined to think o-rings as well. Might want to moisten a fingertip with a drop of juice when you put them on, lube them up, seat everything together tight. Wash your hands well after but nobody needs to be in a dire panic getting juice on your hands. If it has nicotine in it then it usually a diluted form which usually isn't enough to do much if any serious harm. But try to avoid getting nicotine itself on your hands and if you do be sure to wash up thoroughly and soon.

Truly the tank that comes on the v9 is a good tank. Big 8.5 ml cspacity. Easy fill n good airflow. It has to be that bottom o ring. I never had an issue with mine. But as stated above a lil juice on your finger over it to lube it up should do it. And if not, time to change the o ring out with the 1 that came in the kit.
But you also never specified were it was leaking from. Is it out the bottom of the tank or the air flow slots?
Seems like you like the v9 max. I dont use mine enough to justify keeping it. I will sell you mine. Perfect condition. Used it enough to go through 4 or 5 coils. I have all packaging and everything it came with. And 4 or 5 new v2k4 coils. Pm me if your interested. Its a 9.5 out of 10 only because of the little bit of use.

Links to reviews, promo material in their respective quotes. That aside, from what I read of it, this sounds like a damn good kit, damn good tank. Smok might even be 'turning the corner" on its recent seeming run of junk, and "getting back in the game proper". Good on them. Knew they could. :)

Leaking is one of the most common issues with many vaping devices on the market, and while not a huge deal, in excess it can ruin an otherwise solid device. The good news is that leaking is pretty much not an issue with the Stick V9 Max. I’ve had one instance of leaking (from the airflow holes) during testing, but this was after a period of chain vaping on a close-to-empty tank, and it wasn’t exactly a big leak either.

On Smok’s TFV series of tanks, the swing-open top was a big source of leaking. When you carried the device around in your pocket, the top cap could swing open and you’d lose tons of juice by it simply leaking out of the fill hole. The good news is the button-opening system they’ve added to the V9 tank completely removes this issue – it won’t open accidentally on you and your juice stays where it’s supposed to be.
...
Is it Worth Picking Up?

The Smok Stick V9 Max is a beast of a mod. It combines a chunky, long-lasting battery with simple operation and huge performance, all for a solid price of $59.99. Of course, you can find more affordable devices on the market, but getting something that works as well as this (whether you’re a new or more experienced vaper), and a tank, for less than $60 is going to be a challenge. If you want to keep your vaping as simple as possible, pod systems are still worth considering, but if you’re looking for high-end performance in a beginner-friendly package, this comes highly recommended.

If you’re looking for a stylish, sleek and portable device that offers outstanding vapor production the Smok Stick V9 Max Kit is for you!

I’m not a huge fan of that bulging glass section of the V9 Max tank, or the fact that you don’t get a spare glass tank with this kit, but there’s no denying that the SMOK Stick V9 Max has a lot of things going for it. The 4,000mAh battery extends vaping time by quite a bit, the 8.5ml juice capacity of the tank means you won’t have to fill it up very often, and the vaping performance is pretty good too. I expect this kit to be another big hit for SMOK.

Worse case @Leroy1988, you can probably get a fair deal on a nearly new setup @Wb80. If I was looking for a decent tank kit, I'd give him a pm and see what he wanted for it. I don't use tanks anymore even despite this one's high praises. Some of us are just contrary, cranky old bastards that like what we got and roll with it. :)

If nothing else, you get your set up fixed, you've got a back up waiting. Hm, do my backups got backups? Yup "you betcha!" :)

If your leaving it on its side for extended periods of time it can cause that too.

Sounds like bad or counterfeit coils.

Check your seal – It sounds obvious, but make sure your tank is fastened together properly. Sometimes if you’re in a hurry, you may cross-thread the top cap or forget to screw it together tight enough. This can cause juice to leak out of the openings. First make sure the threads are in sync and closed tightly, but not too tight. Find that sweet spot. If the threads are crossed, screw it back together carefully.

Remove e-juice from chimney – All tanks have a central airflow tube that runs from the body of the tank up to the drip tip, known as the chimney. Sometimes you can get e-juice inside this tube by accident, which usually leads to gurgling and leaking. If this happens to you, clean it out with a paper towel before vaping.

Keep your tank upright – Some tanks aren’t built to handle being on their side for long periods of time. E-liquid can start seeping out through the airflow holes if you leave it that way overnight. Try to keep your vape positioned vertically if you’re not using it for extended periods of time. Don’t get into the habit of laying your device down all the time, or you will have to deal with inevitable leakage.

Check for worn or damaged O-rings – A common cause of leaks. Take apart your tank, remove the O-rings and examine them closely. Look for signs of wear and tear, broken or missing O-rings. These things can compromise the air seal of the tank. Thankfully O-rings are cheap, just make sure you get the right size.

Put a lid on it – If you leave a tank without the top cap, it will leak out of the airflow holes. That’s due to the pressurized nature of tanks. Make sure that your tank is empty if you plan on leaving your top cap off for extended periods of time — anything longer than it takes to fill it. Closing the airflow off will work too, but it’s not as foolproof.

Check your airflow – Always make sure the airflow holes are fully closed when filling. When in use, make sure the airflow is open enough to allow you to vape without having to take strong inhales. If you inhale too forcefully, you risk bringing too much e-liquid into the coil, which may lead to leakage

Watch out when filling – Never overfill your tank. Always leave a small air pocket at the top when filling. This empty space will help prevent any liquid from leaking out.

Check for cracks – Check your tank for cracks or other damage. A thin crack in the glass or a piece of bent metal can mean the tank is no longer airtight, allowing the juice to leak out and into the air hole valve. If your glass is cracked it is usually an inexpensive and simple solution to buy a replacement.

Use the right e-juice – For coil heads that require a lot of power, anything lower than 70% VG stands a good chance of leaking due to the thin viscosity of PG. A good rule of thumb is the big cloud-chucking devices do well with 70% VG (only 30% PG) and above, and MTL devices are generally good up to 70% VG. Always look at your e-juice label to determine its PG/VG ratio.

Check your coil heads – As with most mass-produced products, there will always be a few duds. In some cases, the coil may have manufacturing flaws that stop it from holding the juice properly, causing the tank to leak. First, ensure your coil head is screwed in properly and if it is, simply replace the coil–preferably with one from a different batch to the one you’re currently using. If the problem remains, the complication is likely down to one of the other issues addressed here.

Wick carefully – This only applies to rebuildable atomizers that require you to wick them yourself. Wicking an RTA can be tricky: make sure to use enough cotton, or you will be at risk for leaking. The goal is to tuck the cotton in to the wick ports without stuffing them in. This could take some trial and error, depending on the atomizer you are using.
