I am the proud new owner of a python skin on black Legend!!! Man it is beautiful. Not liking the tank that comes with the kit though. No matter I got my trusty og Crown. I love that tank for out and about. Also have several rda's for chilling at home. Just wanted to share. I bought it at my local b&m. Over paid of course. But I love it. I have a bad case of the dropsies so this is just what I need. Do you love yours? Let me know. Peace and love. Big Rick.

Thank you!! I got a dna 75 squonk. Very proud. My yihi sx auto fires
This is supposed to be a really great chip with a very solid body. I need a mod that's going to last me more than a year. I'm still smoking Stinky's although not many but I'm sick of it.

You know I'm afraid of those firmware upgrades. I've heard of mods not working correctly afterwards. I got batteries. So the little box isn't actually that much to carry around. Do you seriously think it's worth it? If so please let me know.

when you use the correct firmware for the hardware and adhere to the instructions it is always better and worth it sometimes the updates also adjust the chip in other ways

I'm with LordMage.

The fact that some people mess theirs up by doing it wrong is no reason to believe it's inherently dangerous. Truth be told, using this forum is far more complicated than the average firmware upgrade. Somewhere the idea got started that upgrading a mod,s firmware means closing your eyes and holding your breath as you click that button, hoping for the best with a 50/50 chance of survival.

It's a triviality that would fit on one page of the manual that comes with your mod. Like anything else, pay attention to what you're doing, follow the instructions and 2 minutes later you have the latest firmware, Which in the case of the legend for instance, means noticeably improved battery life.

Firmware development costs money. They don't do it because they don't have anything else to do. Even if it's just overall under the hood efficiency, I want it. If on the very off chance there's some disadvantage to the newer firmware, it's just as easy to go back to the old one.

Also like anything else, anybody can make a mistake, including myself, but firmware upgrades are not this mystical magical shot n the dark that may or may not destroy your mod. It won't.

Congrats, I love mine as well. You over paid by $95 though. :( You could have had it over-nighted to you and still saved over $70. I like my local B&M shops but not that much to pay their rates for mods. Its said how much the actually mark them up.

Look on Geekvapes website. It will show the new upgrade version.
I bought my Legends about 4 months ago and they already had the new version installed out of the box.
Press the + and - buttons at the same time on your Legend.. It will show the version on the screen.
Should be Version 1.1

In all fairness $40 of it was for the taxi ride there and back home. Plus a little stop at the lounge in between. So it was actually $140 day. The mod itself was $100 with batteries.

Yes it is 1.1 is that good? There is a 1.2 now. Do you know if it is any better. Because my battery life seems to be pretty good

I love mine! The Tank is still in the box. Firmware is upgraded. It only took seconds. I have a had two of them. I gave the first one to a friend to quit smoking along with a Smok prince and a Sense Screen tank

Didn't know about the 1.2
My battery life is good the way it is so I probably won't mess with it.
I'll check it out though. Thanks for the info.

Yeah my battery life is very acceptable as it is. I have heard horror stories about firmware upgrading and the dysfunctionality of the mods afterwards. I figure I got the 1.1 and it seems to be working just fine. You know what they say if it's not broken don't fix it.

Well I do like to support my local economy. And in all honesty that included a cab ride there and back with a stop at the lounge. The mod kit and two new R-25 cost about $102 out the door. Allah Dino but they threw in a couple extra coils a whole bag full of you know bands. Personalized service. And I'm stimulating my local economy.

I like everything about this mod, except for the firmware util. I have used every sort of firmware there is. Custom firmware, infuriating factory firmware, I've even hacked out my own. The Geekvape person that signed off the firmware upgrade for this device, should be horsewhipped. It refuses to be recognized by any machine I own. I have yet to successfuly upgrade the binary. And I'm not the only one. We are legion.

Not under any of the Great Satan's Os's, from XP to 8, not in a VM under Linux, its crap. Pure random is a impossibility for a computer, unless its running a Microsoft OS, but this pig is close. Every time I connect it, something different happens. Except what it is supposed to do. Soon, when I get pissed off enough to take it apart, I can already guess what I'll find. Open source code, free for individual use, that they mangled so they would not have to pay any fee to use, and hacked to prevent anybody from "stealing it". ( like they probably did) and of course, it must have their logo. Whether it works or not. Smok set the bar for this crap, but at least, eventually it can be made to function. Using this utility scares me.

You're talking about the Geekvape version specifically? or the isp utility in general?

The Geekvape vermin, I mean version. And they know it sucks, but choose not to fix it, or address it. It's not a complex task that needs to be done. I run Rockbox on my MP3 players, I use Legacy OS on my rooted cell phone, my wireless router runs DD-WRT, I use Arctic Fox on any Mod that will run it, Its not like the technical aspects of these programs are challenging in any way, or presenting any new challenges, I'll bet the bootloader is not even encrypted. I'm still amazed at the job the Russian guys did on Arctic Fox. At one point, I was running an alternate OS on my Camera. Digita, which was a fantastic Camera firmware, with enough spare room to install MAME and a bunch of ROMs.

Rockbox implemented video on Ipods, years before Apple bothered to. Apple was too busy trying to sue people who were improving Apple products to actually improve their software. When the courts told Apple to go suck a bug, Apples response was to encrypt the device bootloaders, thinking that by doing so, none of those nasty people could experience any added value from an Apple product. But, because their coders are incompetent, they couldn't even encrypt a bootloader that couldn't be exploited by a bunch of part time amateurs. Rockbox put a file system, a configurable database, digital EQ. and processors , added support for blind people, ported a version of MS Paint, added a word processor, about 25 games, including the full version of Doom, and much more, into the same amount of space that Apple needed just to play some MP3s.

I think the lack of innovation in the creation of new consumer devices software is sad. But expecting thier customers to suffer, by fighting with shit software, just to load fixes that should have been addressed before they ever put their product on the market, is unacceptable. that stuff should be bulletproof. And many times, I've seen the updated FW, has eliminated the features that made you buy the device in the first place. and try to prevent any backwards compatibility. That is criminal behavior in my book. They'll put their users through hell, because they are too cheap to write a proper driver. Its even sadder, if like the Aegis, the hardware is good. Thus endeth the rant.

Those are sharp looking mods, nice! Sounds like one of the toughest out there. My only hang up is weight. Heavy mods like to work their way out of my pocket more than light ones.

It is a great mod. As I have a bad case of the dropsies it is edpecially suited to me. I do love the og Crown. It looks kind of dorky on the Legend because it is so tall but I do not care the benefits (flavor, coil life, clouds, etc.) out way the dorkieness.

So you may apreciate this story. The owner if a local b&m thought he lost his Legend while riding his Harley. He back-tracked but never found the mod. Two days of riding later he discovered the mod wedged between the frame and exhaust pipe. It loooked like had been in a fire but with a new tank it still worked. True story that you can verify by calling Mad Dog vapes in Largo-Clearwater Florida.

A well tough mod. Might be my last mod for a while, if it lasts, and the firmware issue is solved. There were no black, on black, on black ones, except with leather. So, I ground out a deal on a hideous one, with a brown bezel, and wretched faux boa. Tackyus Maximus. That part, at least, has now been cured.

The tank sucks!!!

They made me take the kit, and I almost assigned the tank to the parts bin. Either the parts bin, or it was gonna get gifted to somebody who'd consider it an upgrade. Finally, I decided not to be such a snob, loaded it up, and mine at least, is not too bad. I was surprised actually. It happily gulped down some max VG, with very decent flavor, @ 72 watts.

Thanks mine is black with gunmetal border around that hideous feaux snake skin. Going to change it to black leather. Although I do have a sheet of that black carbon fiber sticky stuff. Yours looks great. My b&m had two in stock 1 snake, 1 Canadian flag so snake it is.

The included V 1.1 firmware works great for me. Also I hear thete is a V 1.2. But at this point I see no reason to change it.

I love the old joke that "Dogs have masters, cats have staff." So true.

And I do like my LE Legend. Keeps on ticking. Had no problem with the firmware upgrade. And like others have said once I gave the Alpha tank a try it's actually not half bad at 70w. My 2 cents.

Compared to many other 2 batt mods, the weight is not bad. The Vapresso Switcher is lighter, and while not advertised as such, mine at least has been surprisingly tough. Mine has suffered many drops, and shocks, that I wouldn't have been surprised to have killed it. No breakage, or visible scratches. Not waterproof though. I know this, after a bathtub mishap sent mine while on, down to Davey Jones locker.

I could actually see the blue display, flickering as it descended. Like in that movie Titanic, when the lights went out as it sank. I'd like to tell you I remained calm, but I thought somehow, perhaps if I snatched it out fast enough, it would maybe survive. This only resulted in a soapy handed fumble, and as quickly as it had surfaced, it went in a second time. Bad language was used.

An hour later I exited the tub. ( I couldn't remain there any longer without a vape) I grabbed my trusty can of Contact Cleaner, and after inserting the tiny tube that you stick in the spray nozzle of the can, into a hole in the battery bay of the mod, I liberally irrigated the insides of the mod, until no more water came out when I shook it.

In went some charged, dry batts. With nothing to lose, I clicked the fire button 5X. If anybody reads this, and is getting ahead of me, sorry. I'd like to say it came back to life, and worked perfectly, but that would not be the truth. It did vape perfectly though, but The analog clock in the mod, didn't function properly. It just stayed at 12, and didn't move. Until the next afternoon that is, when all on its own, while I was vaping it, it automagically fixed it's self. It was almost a complete recovery, except, I lost the record of the previous five thousand and something puffs on the puff counter. Naturally, I was devastated by the loss of such valuable data. lol

That is what made me realize I needed the Ageis.

You'll be glad you did. After using mine a while, I think if I were to re-do it, Instead of the carbon fiber, I think a wide piece of grip tape would be even better. I've used grip tape on more than one slippery mod, the problem, is that the grippy stuff gets worn away from it's binder due to rubbing against pockets/holsters and needs replacing. On this mod though, I don't think that would happen, because that part is recessed, and protected. I might re-do it..

Well, I thought I'd give the firmware upgrade another shot today. On the 4th try, it functioned. Update successful.

It bricked. Nothing works, tried that POS upgrade program for 30 min, its back to not finding the device. So, it is irrelevant how tough it may or may not be. As far as I'm concerned, it would be tougher, and stronger if it was made of glass and kleenex. From my perspective, this mod, is so fucking fragile, it broke while I was holding it, performing an operation recommended by, and in accordance with the manufactures instructions. It does not get any more delicate, and fragile than that.

On the bright side, if I fall in a lake with my bricked mod, or drop this useless fucker off a skyscraper, or subject it to a megaton blast, it's performance won't be affected in the least. :deadhorse:

Maybe I can swap a decent board into this. The display window might be big enough for a DNA 200, or one of my Ohmtechs. Too small for anything else that's half decent.

Last Geekvape product for me. Hopefully one of the legitimate companies will make a fully rugged mod.

Follow up. I am fortunate to live in a city with really good Vape shops. The shop I bought it from, honored the warranty, and exchanged it over the counter, even though I had cosmetic;ly altered the mod.

This one, has V1.1 firmware installed. the current version is 1.2. What to do..

I'm not at home and can't check the firmware version on mine, but think it's probably 1.1 - but - one of the firmware updates on the Aegis Legend included a fix for problems with the stainless steel temperature control. It was shit before the update and works great now.

Just fyi, for anyone who cares about temp control and hasn't updated firmware from 1.0...

as I have mentioned a 1.2 version is showing. I have the 1.1 and use it in wattage mode so everything is A-OK in my book. I see no reason to change it. But I met at some point want to try temperature control. My battery is last well pretty much a whole day. So I'm good. I love this mod. I probably baby it more than I should. I haven't even taken it out of the house. It is the nicest one I own. Maybe someday that will change but for now it's what I have and it is mine and I worked hard to get it.
