Is it possible that it could be a rubber grommet or an oring somewhere that may have got a little melted?

Doesn't look like any post comes off, but could take pin and grub screws out and soak and clean threading/air holes, and all.

As said above, a dissembling, inspection and detailed cleaning (including drip tip) should do the trick. A toothbrush works great. Could be as simple as some cooked juice in some cranny hopefully. Also dry-fire and rinse coil if not replace.

Should i clean it with just water? I will strip it down and look over it tomorrow. From just a normal cleaning everything looked good nothing burnt or even dirty.

There isn't much plastic in this one.

The two peek insulators, and drip tip (also the 510 to 810 adapter if you happen to be using it) are the only things that could be actually burnt.

One of these pieces may have had burnt eliquid leech into them.
It's odd but can happen.

I would take it apart, then clean and dry the pieces separately that way you can get everything totally clean.

Once it's apart you will be able to figure out where the smell is coming from more easily.

Edit: soap and warm water will work good.
