What's the deal with vaping and Star Wars?

Don't get me wrong. I'm not knocking or criticizing this. I was 6 when Star Wars came out and have seen every film in the theater more than once. Even the shitty ones. Been a Star Wars fan my while life, but there seems to be a correlation between Star Wars and vaping. Damn near every Youtube reviewer has a wall of Star Wars posters and a shelf or two of models or figurines. It's like a prerequisite to be a vape reviewer.

Where does this come from?

Relatability. I hate to say it but I feel that many reviewers aren’t genuine and Star Wars is an easy way to grab viewers who see their collectibles.

A Beer Belly more often than not as well.

I thought about a career as a vape reviewer, but do not have Tats, beer belly or beard.
It's never too late to get tattoos, stop shaving and over eat ;)

I have some tattoos, but don't like growing a beard and also take pretty good care of myself, so I guess 1 for 3 rules me out too.

I don't know. But I'm a big Star Wars fan. I love all the movies and think Disney is doing a great job since Lucas passed the torch. I don't have many collectables though. I just like the stories and Star Wars universe.

You gotta admit tho, mech mods are shaped like light sabres. I haven't noticed much else besides the limited Trooper (Smok) Aliens. Oh and someone here has a Kylo Ren door on a mod.

I think it might be more the hip culture. Maybe a lot of people who collect mods already have a tendency to collect other things and men collecting childhood toys or fan groups is more widely acceptable. It's kinda cool to be an exposed 'closet' nerd these days. Instead of just a nerd. I see more of the tats and piercings and things, more casual clothes with the younger vape reviewers. It could just be the age bracket. Phil Busardo doesn't adhere to those stereotypes, he jokes a little but he's more serious. Dresses different, speaks different, doesn't come off with all the yippy yo sup bro speak. I actually prefer Phil's more toned down approach but he's mostly a mtl guy and I'm more of a direct lung vaper. People like Rip get the looks and appeal to a larger base maybe but I find his approach of being over the top isn't really my thing. I enjoy Matt's reviews at SuckMyMod because he's laid back and doesn't get all weird.

I get it, there's a certain level of entertainment involved to keep people interested. The attention span isn't what it used to be and there's a need to keep eyeballs trained on vids. Many complain if a review is over 15-20min like they're going to die of sheer boredom or something. Welcome to the twitter world where everything must be said in 140-280 characters or less, or risk losing that finite shrinking attention span.

Maybe it was me seeing things differently, maybe it's because I'm more exposed to a wider range of vaping gear now that I've been around it more. It just seems like a few years ago, mods for instance were fairly simple looking. Low key, would pass in an office or formal setting. Now they're all a bunch of honda civics and subaru's with big fast and furious wings on the back. Multicolored, flashing, led light shows, neon colors, transparent plastic, shaped like tennis shoes. Where it might have looked normal to pull out a black and silver modest looking istick 40w in most settings it might look a bit weird pulling out some blazing yellow and neon green toys'r'us mod available now in an office environment.

Star Wars is pretty much liked around the world and there is Star Wars reconnaissance recently, beginning with The Force Awaken. Youtubers usually decorate their room with pop culture stuffs to make their clip attractive and familiar with most people. I'm also a big Star Wars fan so if there is review video of any Star Wars related kits, I'll definitely check it out.

I have a long beard, have many tattoos and I have been a Star Wars fan since 1977. Better yet one of my tattoos is Star Wars themed. Can't say I'm into skulls but I am a metalhead.

My next Star Wars themed tattoo is going to be BB-8 in a motion type situation with the words "move ball" done in vintage Batman style.

It is actually a custom piece I had drawn up. It is a mash up of a Death Trooper and the band Iron Maiden's The Trooper cover. If you zoom in you can see pieces of the armor broken away.

like star warz.
Have seen all the movies more than once.
I had a first edition Star Wars book before the movie even came out.

However not fan status.
I think I have a little Chewbacca that a sibling gave me.
Not into posters, etc.

Many years ago I got to hang with Peter Mayhew foir a little bit. Housont, Tx has it's version of a comic con called Comicpalooza. Peter Mayhew has been a regular guest. I was working a different event at the Hilton hotel across the street from the convention center. It was time for our union break and as usual I went down to the smoking area and there he was. A 7ft tall man wearing a Chewbacca shirt, a huge chewbacca ring, and carrying a lightsaber cane. I sat there smoking my cigarette trying not to totally geek out and stare at him. I really didn't want to bother him as this, in my opinion, was his personal time. I did sneak a pic of him with my phone, but can't seem to find it anywhere.

Okay, let me walk through here.
  • Star Wars fan? I am but got no Star Wars gear/stuff.
  • Ink? Yep. Want more eventually.
  • Beard? Yep, in Spring/Summer mode currently. Autumn sees it turn into wild man beard.
  • Beer belly? Unfortunately, although I have recently admitted to another problem regarding that. Going to diet & exercise better. 300 lbs plus hurts. Sugar addictions are fun.
  • Metal head? Yeah, just not one for concerts. I did mosh to a little known group at the time, called Metallica, that came in on two flat bed trailers to a big party down near Lurray/Stanely VA. My big concert going event of a life time I guess.
  • Skulls? I got a painted up Native American style Possum skull. Not really a big skull collecting freak, found this one near my grandmother's home and its more a memento of family than "oh gee a skull".
  • Firefly fan? Yes. I have a Carhart tan brown coat. It's not one of the suede leather dusters but it is at least a brown coat. No it's not a Nazi brown shirt. No, I'm not a WASP, White, Anglo-Saxon but not a protesting ant am I, nope I'm an Apathetic Agnostic. So, more like WASAAA here. I'm sure the last A can be figured out easily enough.
No, not diabetic. Not been diagnosed as such at least. I am though a sugar addict. Its something I will make my bitch & not look back on. Living now with a lot of issues it has brought on and realizing this isn't life for me. Call Domino sugar company & let them know they're loosing the East coast. I do not want any more sugar & will be tapering off of using it.

Had only 1/4 teaspoon in my coffee this morning instead of the normal 30 ml dry measure of it. 1 teaspoon by the way is roughly 5 ml, liquid or dry measure. So, pretty clear I'm serious. I may have another coffee later, same notion. Had 1 hot roll, one bacon wrapped baked poached egg, one breaded chicken patty. Anyhow, I'm breaking that addiction. Need to do so, have to do so, shall do so.

Not sure I really notice stuff like that in watching videos for vaping. More than naught rather find the info I seek. If that isn't going to show up, on to the next. few do I hold loyalty to, to watch just to watch. I think Mr. Todd is about all, maybe Mr. Green sometimes. They both seem on the level and get to the nuts and bolts quick, without injecting too much opinion. Yes, they each have their own and say them. What they don't do though is beat you silly with their opinions. "I like it because that's what I like, you might like sardines instead. And the next feature here is positive, and two negative ones after that."

Well, going to piddle with wire.

Sorry but no Star Wars :p

2000AD related stuff as been a fan since prog #1

Speaking for myself, where I record my reviews is pretty much my man cave, everything in it is basically all the gear that my wife doesn't want seen anywhere else in the house. What I have on display is for my benefit, not the viewers, you watch for a mod or atty not for my poor interior design choices ;)

I'm a big star wars fan. Loved the originals, really like (most) of the prequels. But I hate the Disney stuff. Just can't stand it. And I also have a large beard and a good sized belly, so can I be a reviewer yet?

I have a full on Star Wars edition pzld mech squonk mod. I'll try to get some pics later when I can.
