Now there are companies who cover blade breakage... think Benchmade is one...and they make some really kick ass knives... but many of them borderline legal in California due to their lack of Detente.

Especially in Los Angeles...sub 3" blades are fine... cept autos and assisted opening knives... yes Brew... that cheapy Kershaw I gave you is illegal in LA... one exception to the blade length rule is fixed knives in sheaths... as long as its not a dagger... you can carry them openly...BUT! if your shirt covers it slightly it becomes illegal, and considered concealed...yeah grey area poop.

Its why I went with CRK/Spyderco PM2's... although they are above 3" blades, you can't shake them open past their detente... they are not assisted.

Now here in San Diego... they aren't as fussy as they are in Los Angeles or LA County...but not by much... the difference being, we are allowed assisted open knives... just not autos.

Funny thing is... I can open my PM2s or my CRKs just as fast as an auto or assisted flipper... just can't close as fast as an auto
Good info to know about assisted flippers, I wasn't aware of that. Just saw a Sebenza 21 Insigo on fleabay sitting at $206, it ends tomorrow. I'm OK with buying Kershaws from the bay (under $30), CRK on the other hand, too many copies out there and for that kind of money I'd rather make sure I get the real thing.

From what I've seen the Zbiip is bigger than your standard pod system. That negates one of the draws of such a system for me which is a bummer!
How does it compare to a BB?

Dead giveaway on fake CRKs on Fleabay is if it has engraving on the blade...

Like this one...

EBAY Item # 163691052955

Straight up clone... a good looking one... but a clone nonetheless.

That Small 21 insingo is a good deal at that price... above $270 not so much... I'd ask him for lock up pictures...and centering pics.

EDIT: This is a good deal thus far on Ebay also... Item #223514463061

Oh okay so still very pocket friendly. Dammit Brew... you "complain" about Don...

I like that it fills pretty easy without removing the pod or removing a cap, it has good magnets to hold the pod in place and it has that cover so you don't get crud in the drip tip/pod. It feels hefty but solid, I haven't dropped it...yet but give me time.

Don't be hooked on them, regular flippers open just as easily and don't rely on a spring to hold them closed
Got it! The Chill is not assisted and I like ir , think I'll get another one for myself. Do you take them apart when you sharpen the blades?

nah... if I need to protect the handles or the blade, I'll just mask them with some tape... you don't want to accidentally go up on the blade grind with diamond stone... that scratch will never come out

I got a set of shaft locks that allow me to set how far the stones travel on the rods. Did that after I put some scratches on a blade, but it was a kitchen knife my mom said it wasn't any good. After I put a new edge on it, cautioned her to be careful with it, she likes it now!

Ok to me Batman is the movie to make... just wish they did the Snyder route as they did with Man of Steel (Another Movie I enjoyed)... Christian Bale did a great job... enjoyed them all...

Ben Afleck was a decent replacement... got stupid in Justice League... couldn't even watch that movie...

Now they got this dude...from Twilight to play Batman...

upload_2019-5-17_15-56-5.png

Which was a train wreck kiddy pop vampire series...

I have yet to hear of a movie he did well in...

So Batman is dead...

for a while... cause unless they get like, M Night Shamaladadingdong or get JJ. Abrams hands on it, we already know its going to be shit.

BUT at least we get Ruby Rose as BatGirl to replace Arrow... Finally.

There's a potential buy for flush 510 nuts for the BB on SMGB FB group. $16 plus shipping if anyone wants one. Let me know and i can get a couple extra if anyone is interested.

It's made by K&R, same folks who made the North Bridge.

Do any of you just put people on ignore? Especially those new to VU?

I like helping people, and I consider myself nice'ish, but I have found I have almost zero tolerance for stupid.

Example: New guy in the hardware section... just his responses...rather just ignore the fucker than try to help. And this guy is supposedly 52yo...

Anyhoo... time to change my status on my profile page again lol

I'd take 3 of them if you can, thanks. Do they fit the authentic or the SXK, or both?

Another flipper, not assisted. Rather inexpensive but something else to practice my sharpening skills on since it isn’t quite as sharp as I'd like (ok, fine! I'm just finding a reason to play)

Did you put a 15 on that?

Sharpening is actually therapeutic isn't it?

Not yet! It's the Nura, I'm not sure if I really like it, it has some sharp lines and the top of the flipper needs to be rounded off. It's supposed to be really sharp but it isn't so I'm gonna see where it sits from the factory (read somewhere Kershaws are 18 -20). I do like the blade lines but you got me spoiled with the assisted flipper and I think this one will need some more playing with before it loosens up and gets to be really smooth. I think I like the Chill better, it is lighter and smoother opening.

The spring assist could probably benefit from some grease and some KPL on the pivot area.

Flourinated grease -Finish line is what I use.

If there isn’t any blade play loosen up the pivot slightly.

Oh yeah wiha torx is what I use and wiha hex

Already have the Wiha hex, I'll get the torx too. Grease like this? https://www.amazon.com/Finish-Line-Extreme-Fluoro-Syringe-x/dp/B002L5UL92

And what in the ever loving's name is KPL ( besides kaiser permanente learn:confused:)

Now you're getting too sophisticated on me! So, this one is for the pivot on all the knives, the other is for the spring.....Got it! Now I'm looking at this sucker https://www.bladehq.com/item--Stedemon-Vouking-Frame-Lock-Knife--77225

Well flourinated is what I use on my CRKs at the pivot...just what comes with them.

Kpl I use on everything else...but for springs grease is better for it stays put and doesn’t run.

That knife is pretty nice.

Another one is the Drop: Ferrum Forge Gent in Carbon Fiber.

Looks nice, checked out the manufacturer's site. The select is $125 and in stock, the garden variety is OoS and pre order with delivery in mid June. Now I'm looking at a tanto blade too! The Griptilian looks nice.

Only one grip worth buying, that’s the one with the Spyderco hole in 20cv

I like the insingo (sheepsfoot) blade shape and then drop point...tanto blades good for piercing into tougher stuff imo

The Sebenza doesn't have that:confused:
Ferrum Forge is in San Diego! You might as well drop by and see if they have any factory seconds:wave:

Sebenza doesn’t have what? 20CV?

CRK has 4 prototypes in 20CV...they wanted to test it against S35VN...Tim Reeve is pretty adamant about not switching steels yet

If you had to choose between Griptillian mini with 154CM blade and the Vouking with Bohler M390 blade, which one would you choose?

If you want a killer cheap knife... get an Ontario Rat in D2 Steel... think they are under $40
