Have to go to the bank today and get a new bank card. Last night the hackers/thieves tried to place another order though ebay using the deactivated card.

That doesn't make sense.

If the card was deactivated, then nothing actually happened, right?
Why would they need to re-issue a card if nothing had happened to the new one?

Is it just me or are hackers and thieves getting dumber? They had to know that the card would be deactivated LOL. Morons

Yes they are morons and must think others need to pay for their items:) I hope they paid big bucks for the number. My bank told me they usually will sell off the numbers on the dark web. All is good. I have a new card and I deactivated it. Which means I use it only when I want to make a order. I already got rid of the old card/number. It's a inconvenience to get another card and I wasted about a hour of my time.

Ugh, I really hate moving too. :gaah:

Last time I"d moved after living in a place for ten years it took a 24' U-haul and like 5 guys to do it. Now, after nearly six years of living here, I have more vapes, computers, more appliances, a heavy leather couch, bigger tv's, a huge coffee table, etc. Fuck moving with a prickly stick, twice.

GL man, I hope ya dig the new digs.

On the happier side, I made Achiote Verde Rice today.
Such simple earthy/aromatic stuff, but wonderful.

wt4hBWA.jpg

My version has Jasmine rice cooked up with 50/50 beef broth and water, some Achiote verde paste, garlic pepper salt, chopped garlic / onion / fire-roasted Serrano chile, a dash of Fiesta Taco Seasoning and some dry chives for fun.

Yummers for everything from burritos to soup additions or just as a side dish.

I remember moving from MO to WI. That was living hell. 12 hour drive in a rented truck. Unloading at night was tricky but we were younger. I don't think I could do it now. I would have to hire someone.

Take care and drink plenty of fluids..even if its beer.

It's not bad, needs a little work, but I think that I might be able to see about having an actually build and mixing space. Here's to hoping haha

We moved from NC to Savannah, GA in JUNE 1997. If you've never been to the deep south in June, you haven't missed a thing. It wouldn't have been much worse if we'd moved in August.

As @CaFF said, a 24' UHaul truck, with a piano in it, me and my sister and my husband and my 16-year-old son to unload. Back then I could nearly hold my own with being on the lighter end of that piano. I was really strong in my younger days. If I had to move now, guess I'd just take a match to all this crap and drive my car on down the driveway.

Once when hubbs and I were moving from Athens, GA back to NC, we got pulled in Asheboro, NC in the rented truck. We had noticed for about 20 minutes previously that there was a growing line of cop cars of all types stacking up behind us. Come to find out, they'd had a report of someone moving drugs in a white panel truck. They told my husband he was going to have to unload the truck on the side of the road. He said, if you want it unloaded, YOU unload it, but you'd better put everything back.

We sat there for nearly two hours while they went through our stuff. They put almost everything back, although it wasn't like we'd packed it. It was a miracle that half our stuff wasn't torn all to pieces.

I had to just stay in the cab of the truck. I have one of those faces - everything I think shines right out on my face, and I knew if I got out of the truck, I'd be in trouble. They did come and take my driver's license and I guess they checked my record with it.

You just never know what's gonna happen.

Yeah, that is some damn good lookin rice there. We love rice in my house. Especially with chicken. My food would probably bore @CaFF to death, though. I joke with my family that the recipe for everything I cook is this:

1. Put some stuff in a pot.
2. Put some bouillon or salt and pepper and some real butter on it.
3. Cover it with water.
4. Boil the hell out of it.
5. Voila, dinner!

Thanks! Teehee..I do like the spices a just weeee bit. ;)

What you described is pretty much a lot of my stuff too. Like this rice.
One-pot dishes for the most part. But, I combine things to make other things and it all works out.

It's hard cooking for one sometimes though, I just can't make much or I'll have leftovers for miles and nowhere to put them.
Fridge and freezer are both in what they call a state of "Thermal Mass"...lol....o_O

Thing is, when you really learn to cook, you can make a meal out of whatever...whatever's in the cabinet. Comes from being really damn poor for a lot of years and having to just deal with it.

I realized one day that if I had a good selection of very basic foods in my kitchen, I could always make something to eat. Sometimes the BEST stuff comes from those very basic things, like homemade brownies and coffee! Biscuits and gravy! Fried potatoes with onion! And gravy!

I love gravy, can you tell?

Agree, I grew up with little but we always ate well. :)
As someone who had Canadian parents and also loves gravy, let me introduce ya to Poutine: fried potatoes, cheese curds, and much gravy. That's it.

What is the difference in the taste of cheese curds and, say, mozzarella or provolone cheese? I've never seen cheese curds in a store in my life.

Looks almost too yummy. I think poutine is served with meat sometimes, is it not? Seasoned ground beef or pork in there, man, double yum!

I have a friend online who is a Nurse Practitioner near Winnipeg, travels up to work with First Nations people sometimes. She's mentioned poutine from time to time.

A nasty storm cell just whipped through here..some scary looking shit.Just as I was walking to the store too.
I knew t-storms were in the near forecast, but nothing like this thing. Yes, that thing was rotating.

On the way there, this was an uh-oh moment...

This was a bigger moment when I got around one building and saw this...see that circular bit there? It was rotating and heading down. Rain coming straight down in there.

Kinda like this....a genuine cloud-burst

And this. That was disconcerting.

Fuck Winter, Darkness is Coming.

I did a Gomorra look back and saw this...beautiful and full of Oh Fuck.
That line is the swirly bit being spread out wider...then the middle thinner part showing. Nothing but rain and fuckery in there.

Just before it hit over my head. We got intense lightning and thunder and about 4-5" of rain in about 5mins.

Minor flooding. I'm at like 2,000+ elevation here, some low areas got far worse.

Not my photo, but some urban flooding here.
60590434_10156001930195706_9193145053457940480_n.jpg

A few lightning caused fires, downed trees and a lot of traffic accidents.
Also, a Firetruck fell into a sinkhole that formed from a broken water main they were responding to. Life is weird. o_O

Ya, that darkness changing wasnt shopped...it went from day to night in about 15 minutes.
Wind, rain that sounded like hail, near constant lightning & thunder, pretty cray shit man.

We good though. :) Well, except more rain expected for the next 3 days. Glad I live up on the Glacial Valley wall.....not in the river valley itself where the downtown area is.

Downtown, they had to cancel a Garfunkel concert, as the stage in the historic theater that is over 100yo was flooded...

Well, geez, IDK how I missed this post. But, I'm glad all went well and she's recovering. :)
She's doing well. We walked down to see our friends that live in thesame apartment complex we do earlier and she got to hang out a bit, she's laying down now. We had an eventful last couple of days. I'm trying to stay up myself. I'm hoping to get tired enough thatmy insomnia won't be an issue tonight. Time for her eye drops now. I almost forgot LOL

SF Waterfront Sourdough bread, toasted with Braunschweiger, garlic and onion powders, sharp cheddar cheese, and a sprinkle of Pequin chile salt for a little contrast. :)

Didn't sleep very well, Tiki refuses to come into the bedroom where it's warmer now that the weather went from 80s to mid-50s in like a couple of days. I'm worried she'll get another cold like before which is where all this BS started. Tried just wrapping her in her blanket and carrying her into the BR, she ran off immediately back to the LR. Fuck it.

I got a small digital space heater at thrift for $2 that's keeping her warm now, but I shouldn't have to be using heat or AC in fucking May.

Oh, and my neighbor I share a wall with apparently has her drama coming to the building now. Some dood was passed out against the railing at the top of the stairs. Seems he'd texted her earlier...but she doesn't know who. Lovely. Probably to do with her ex and their kids. Fucking breeders.

Broke the railing loose from the bracket, but I fixed it. If her poor choices start affecting me, shit is gonna get ugly real fast.

Made a weird Italian-style brekky. Probably looks like shit, but it tasted pretty good.

It's got Italian salami, green olives, onion, Fresno chiles, garlic and Mex sweet basil sauteed up then cracked an egg in there and put on toast with Muenster cheese.

The place we just moved to is lively to say theleast. I have a feeling there will be drama. Just found out that there was a hip hop video shot out in the parking lot with a bunch of girls in bikinis and at some point apparently some of those bikinis came off out there. I was all chilled out in my living room so I didn't know anything about it, but apparently cops were called because some kid saw it and some lady called them.

Fun times LOL. I just mind my own business really unless it affects me or my household. It's not my business.

Sounds pretty normal, except here it's usually drama about drugs, wimmen, ppl yakking their mouths off, or who knows what. It's rare anyone calls the cops because then they'd be the next drama. ;)

FWIW, I'm pretty happy with that little $2 heater. It raised temps in this cavernous room by 10 degrees in about a couple of hours.Tiki was happy about it too.

It's sitting on top of my old toaster oven, so it ain't in danger of causing issues that way. Has a nice shut-off 'breaker' built into the cord too.

OFC, having the hulking Yamaha stereo amp, older LED TV, and the old C2D computer running helps a lot too.

Hey @nadalama , guess what I'm making? ;)

IMG_20190518_182241.jpg

I'd made a couple pounds of ground beef up and had some nice drippings, figured gravy was a go.
Doing it as a reduction, with some diced mushrooms and then using a rice flour slurry as the thickener if needed. (it's a gentle thickener and doesn't add that floury taste)
Slooooow simmering is good. :D

*edit*
It came to a slow bubble after about a hour of simmering, it was plenty rich enough by then so did some stirring in of a bit of the slurry and after a few minutes it's spoon-coating now.

Gonna take off the heat and let it cool with my Silicone lid on there just ajar to keep it from skinning over. Whole Apt. smells like rich beefy mushrooms...mmm.

*edit2*
Cooled sufficiently now, put it in an old olive jar for the fridge. Nom Nom. :)

Sounds fabulous, yum!!!

Thanks! Much appreciated. :D

Ya may dig this...was just puttering around on zee Interwebs and ran across this. Made me laff.

https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/88727/whisky-tea/

To wit:

Recipe by: Princey

"This is how my grandad makes his cups of tea. He's in his seventies now and drinks whisky like he'll never get hold of it again. This drink is very relaxing and a great way to sedate family members and friends."

Hell yeah.

Mine is usually made toddy-style like that, but for fun I made it with strong iced Twinings Irish Breakfast tea, MacNaughton's, and a touch of Agave syrup.

4xzOYIp.jpg

The earthy tea mixes perfectly with the whiskey, so smoooooth.
