help with strawberry and cream

I have TFA's strawberry and cream and I really like the flavor, but I wish it was just a stronger flavor. It seems like if you're just puffing away at it you don't really notice the strawberry portion of it.
a recipe I've tried with it go like this. 70vg/30pg 5-6ishmg nicotine just fyi for all the recipes.

3% erythritol
5% strawberry and cream TFA
1% cream fresh FA
.5% vienna cream FA
2% vanilla swirl TFA/2% vanilla cupcake TFA
2% marshmallow FA

Erythritol doesn't seem to add much if any sweetness, thoughts? idk anything about this stuff other than it's called erythritol and it's supposed to add sweetness like sucralose does. I got it by mistake from ecigexpress.

Vanilla swirl definitely tastes better than the cupcake does in this mix although it's a slight difference. I'm thinking about taking both out of this recipe though to see if that will help me notice the actual strawberry and cream part. I would really like a nice vanilla to go in this recipe.

Just a thought, but if you are having trouble tasting the strawberry portion, it might be a good idea to add some more strawberry???? If you are going for realistic maybe some FA Red Touch, if you are going for candy maybe some CAP Strawberry Sweet, TFA Straw. Ripe? I just got RF Strawberry and INW Shisha and those are both great too.

Strawberry needs layers. I’d go Shisha at 1% or Caps Sweet Strawberry at 4%. Or TFA Ripe at 2-4%. No one strawberry really does it. Start pairing strawberries and see what you like. Some are candyish and sweet, some syrupy and some realistic. Combine them to get a fuller profile.

Yes! What she said! My favorite combo is 3%Straw Ripe TFA, 1%Cap Sweet Straw, and 1.5% FA Red Touch. Nice realistic strawberry. I need to start playing with the Shisha and the RF Straw. I feel like shisha will be good to make a strawberry ice cream with.

I'd lower the erythritol to 1% or under...

have you done any solo taste testings with these?

I'd lower the marshmallow to 1% and under..

a lot of creams can mute out the strawberry.. just my thoughts.. :)

This is ALL you need:

Inawera Shisha Strawberry 13.6%
TFA DX Bavarian Cream 4.7%
TFA Vanilla Swirl 3.55%
CAP Sweet Cream 1.4%

Guaranteed. Best strawberry and cream flavor you will EVER taste.

13.6% shisha strawberry is A LOT of shisha. I have never gone over like 2%. When I did my sft 2.5% started to yield a nasty taste to me.

Well, that's why mine is the best strawberry and cream ever. Because flavors are nothing to be afraid of. Everyone who's ever tasted this recipe told me "That's the best ejuice I've ever tasted!"

I'm not saying it isn't. It is all subjective. I'm just saying personally 13% shisha is a lot for me. What kind of device are you vaping in?

Yes. Vanilla swirl and cupcake I've used solo and in recipes for years. The strawberry very recently. I think I might up the strawberry to at least 8%, lower the ery to 1, lower or remove the creams, remove the vanilla swirl/ cupcake, and add simply vanilla by cap.

I don't have any money to buy new flavors, but a few of these sound promising.

Don't forget she vapes over 85% PG so you need something to kill that nasty PG taste....................... IMHO.

do you have ANY other strawberries? I don't think upping the straw and cream will help. That flavor probably has more of a cream taste than a strawberry taste.

Nope and, to me at least, the strawberry tends to hit first on the inhale and then the cream hits on the exhale. It's kinda 50/50 on the taste imo.

then why not keep things simple.. if you like the strawberry and cream where it is.. then
keep the marshmallow at 1% and toss the rest out, until you can afford or there is a sale..
If you can wait that long :) best I can do, @mchaggis79

Great minds must think alike cause I just whipped up another bottle except I doubled the TFA strawberry and cream, nicked the vanilla swirl, cream fresh, and Vienna cream, lowered the marshmallow and erythritol to 1% each, and added CAP simply vanilla at 2%.

Hope that works for you.. if not.. then do some sol taste testing from low to high and find out where you like these flavors..
When combining them, you will want to go a bit lower for a total juice :)

An Achilles RDA -- very tight draw, 1.8Ω, 10w. But I was recently exchanging PMs with someone that I think vapes at about 25w, and she loved that S&C recipe. My son vapes at about 50w, and one of his friends at about 80w, and they vape the same S&C, my recipe, but an older iteration of the recipe which has even more flavoring, I think around 27%-28%, and they love it.

I think most vapers get the idea that they're only supposed to get the merest hint of flavor, so they vape at that ridiculous 2%-5% flavoring level. I couldn't taste the shisha strawberry even at 8%, so I said hell with it and doubled it to 16%; I've been vaping that same flavor for over 4 yrs now, but have gradually brought down the flavoring, from its start at 31%, to now around 23%-24%, as my tastebuds have gradually emerged from their coma.

Actually there are some flavors you do not want to use over 2% because of muting, foul back tastes, loss of flavor notes, and flavor pushing.. this all happens with ultra concentrates, so you want to make sure of where your flavors fit in.. I always recommend people to start low and then go up to find their spots.. too much flavor can also prevent your taste buds from coming back and some will never ever come back.

I can not say much at all on Inaweara's line, and really the only thing I can say on this, is at least you are stepping down a bit.. if you like it there.. then have at it.. Personally to me, less is more with ultras, and if I do not have to use a ton of flavorings, I won't.. just personal choice..

Still.. I am proud you keep at it @AndriaD as we are all different and diy is a quest to find what we each like that fits our own tongue!

I dunno about 2%; I can't taste ANYTHING at that minuscule level... Well, except for INW's Biscuit, it takes over the whole recipe at 1%! :giggle: But TFA's Blueberry Extra completely vanishes, over 8%; with blueberry I definitely have to layer it, using 8% TFA blueberry extra and a couple percents each of 2-3 other blueberry flavors.. When I went to 16% with the shisha strawberry it was because I was GODDAMN SICK AND TIRED of never tasting ejuice, only smelling it, and people telling me this 2-4% shit that was so completely USELESS. Then I found that the 16% shisha strawberry plus 13% of the 3 creams with it plus 2.5% sweetener, I COULD taste it, and it was GREAT!!!! So I stuck with it until it seemed too sweet -- it took about a year and a half to get too sweet -- and started reducing the sweetener, and after about 6 months, using no sweetener at all. Then after a few months, it started being too sweet again, so I started gradually reducing the flavoring, a little at a time. My goal is to get it to about 20% overall flavoring, but I'm in no hurry; still enjoying the 23.?%

It always really amazed me that even when I was smoking 2+ pks of cigarettes a day, I STILL had a keener sense of smell than pretty much anybody I've ever known... and sadly, it's gotten even keener since I quit smoking. The flip side of that is that my actual tastebuds apparently were nearly dead, and I don't know if they'll ever return to anything approaching "normal." *shrug* I noticed that some foods taste even better than I've always thought, and a couple, I don't like anymore at all... but hey, I quit smoking, and didn't gain a buttload of weight, so I'm happy. :)

that last recipe with just tfa's strawberry and cream with CAP simply vanilla was a dud. I don't care for capella's simply vanilla, it just tastes too chemical like and it overpowers everything else. I'd get barely a hint of strawberry only on the occasional hit, but good news. I placed an order from ecx for the following stuff and i'm crazy excited.

TFA strawberry ripe which I know now is perhaps the most popular strawberry out there.
CAP butter cream
CAP New York Cheesecake v2
CAP sweet cream
CAP vanilla bean ice cream. I opted not to get TFA's VBIC so i could avoid diketones.
CAP strawberry sweet.
and CAP vanilla custard v2.

I've found a couple strawberry and cream recipes here and on elr that sound delicious.

If that is what you like, then that is what you like. I love DIY because I can make juice that I LOVE. I am not into super high flavor percentages. The reason I didn't like commercial juices was because I could never taste the nuance of flavors they claimed to have it was always just in your face flavor and sweetener. I make some recipes with 7% overall flavoring and they are very flavorful, then I make a strawberry cheesecake with 18% total flavor and it is perfectly balanced. I don't think there is any hard and fast rule about how much flavoring you should or shouldn't use. If you like to make your recipes with 23% or 50% or you like to vape straight concentrate (obviously you shouldn't do that), but it's not up to me to tell you it is wrong. I am just happy you are vaping and not smoking and glad you are making mixes you enjoy.

I found a 1:1 clone of Cuttwood's Unicorn Milk on elr. I don't have the exact same ingredients since I ordered the v2 version where it called for v1, but I figured it was worth a shot. As long as it tastes good Idc if it doesn't taste the same as the original, not that it matters cause I've never had the original.

Eh.....there’s a little change but I’m sure it will be fine. From what I’ve read, the v2 needs a bit more of a steep. Good luck and let us know how it turns out!!

Will I notice the strawberry more after a good steep? With just a shake n vape it's really good, but I can't really taste the strawberry even though it's at 8%?

Just my experience having smoked for a long time - I find the strawberry blends in and isn’t overly strong at all after a one month steep. Maybe I’m steeping it too long. It’s still really nice though but just not in your face strawberry. I believe others have found it strong because different people have a better time tasting strawberry than others

After a couple days I still can't really taste strawberry.

On a separate note I'm looking for a good cheap-ish scale. It seems like everyone recommends American weighs lb-501, but idk how I feel about it. Is it sensitive enough to notice mere drops of flavors?

I made a 300 ml batch and shook it every day, let it breathe a few minutes a day, now a week later it's this beautiful honey/amber color. I tried it and it's really good. I did change the recipe a little. I used 5% TFA strawberry ripe and 3% CAP sweet strawberry cause I didn't have enough of the sweet strawberry to make 300ml at 8%. While it's very creamy and delicious I can't really taste strawberry. I just get this really nice sweetness from it.

To be fair......... I've never eaten a strawberry, but I've been told even real strawberries don't have a strong flavor at all. So I'm willing that's why I can't pick out the taste of strawberry cause I have no idea what to look for.

I’m trying to bring out the strawberry flavour and just mixed this up with 1.5% inw strawberry shisha, 1% fa strawberry and .75 JF sweet strawberry. I’ll let you know how it is when I try it in a month

yes if we can figure out a way to make that strawberry flavor pop better I think it would be perfect. It's already really delicious though keep in mind I also use the v2 versions of everything that has diketones in them. I think it's a great adv, but yea if that strawberry would pop better it would be perfect. Maybe some dragonfruit would help?

Yes, dragonfruit can help. Lemon/lime can help, as well.

If you’re having a hard time tasting strawberry, I would get INW shisha strawberry. It’s strong, sweet and syrupy.

Since you’ve never tried a real strawberry, try something with fake strawberry. Quik, a candy....something. Most of the strawberries out there taste like artificial strawberry of some ilk. That’s the flavor you’re going to get. Fake strawberry. You’re correct that real strawberries aren’t super strong tasting. At peak season, they’re amazing, but never in your face.

You don't need that. AWS makes a bunch of different scales. I prefer a flat one with the display screen illuminated. I use a small one for most of the stuff I mix.

I didn't like the Cuttwood Spy recipe. It tastes nothing like the original. Wayne Walker blew that whole thing up. All of his followers took his word for it and the rest is history. It's not even close, and isn't even good IMO. A lot of people like it though. It just doesn't suit my palate. You could add Inawera Shisha Strawberry to boost the strawberry aspect. It's pretty potent and tastes good.

I used to like Sweet Strawberry Cream by CheebamSteeba much more. I haven't vaped strawberry anything in a while though.

I really like the recipe, just wish the strawberry stood out better. Isn't shisha strawberry a tobacco strawberry? idk how adding a tobacco to it would fair.

No, it's just strawberry. I've heard it described as a fresh strawberry with sugar on it. I don't know about all that.. But there's no tobacco flavor to it. Same for all the Inawera Shisha type flavors I've tried.

Strawberry is a hard thing I think. Most versions of strawberry are candied to a degree. Not to say people wouldn't like real strawberry flavor but real strawberries aren't overly sweet. They can be sweeter when they're really ripe for sure but most of the ones in the store are bland and either greenhouse or picked before they're ripe (makes sense so the fruit's more stable/firm for transport, longer shelf life).

They're not sour like a lemon but they have a bit of a bite to them, they're not candy. Most of us recognize 'strawberry' flavor when it comes to ice cream, candy, gum but those aren't true to real grown strawberries. Kind of their own critter. Sweetener may help bring out the flavor, it does with real strawberries. I love strawberry shortcake for a dessert using those yellow pound cake dessert cups or whatever they are (sold in the grocery near strawberries) and real strawberries cut up into slices. You add sugar to them and let them sit in the fridge, the sugar not only sweetens the strawberry overall it draws the juice out and forms like a syrup. The 'strawberry' flavor is increased a lot over just eating a plain strawberry, similar to adding salt to recipes to bring flavor out. Otherwise for me while fresh plain berries are fine they're kinda sour or bitter and give your tastebuds a twang. It's not like cantaloupe or honeydew melon sweet, more like compared to a lemon or raspberry it's sweet.

Have you ever eaten an alpine strawberry? Flavorah did an excellent job with a true presentation of that one.. it's my favorite. :)

Not to my knowledge, not sure what kind of strawberries. Just regular whatever. I know there's different varieties just never paid that much attention to it.

I’m trying to bring out the strawberry flavour and just mixed this up with 1.5% inw strawberry shisha, 1% fa strawberry and .75 JF sweet strawberry. I’ll let you know how it is when I try it in a month
So I let this steep for a month and am vaping on it now. The strawberry is much more forward with this combination but it’s not so forward that the buttery cream in the recipe is still very much there. I’m going to mix it this way from now on. I suggest you try it and see if you like it.
