Hopefully by the end of the summer my flav pile/collection will be a nice size. Its funny cus my wife always says i thought diy was gonna save us $. Hard to explain that it does on the cost of daily juice n coil usage. The collecting of gear and flavs is just an addiction. Lol

It can be a bit overwhelming at first, when you're amassing a collection of flavors and working out your process. From day one, though, I didn't order any more mass-produced juice.

Have been mixing for about a year, maybe a little less, and have 165 flavors in my ELR stash. I know already that I won't ever have 400-600 flavors, because I'm pretty happy where I am and find myself really not looking to add much. Occasionally something makes me curious or gives me inspiration, and so I'll make another order, and of course we always need to keep in stock on the basic flavors we use all the time. What I'm saying is that it is possible to save a LOT of money once you have your initial stash built up.

Those basic flavors make everything else possible, though. In my mind it's most important to have a good assortment of basics.

The other thing about the basics and bases is that, once you know what you're really going to use, you can buy larger bottles, which saves a lot of money per ml on both basic flavors and bases.

Wh

I´m confused, im not good at english.
What do you mean sir?
I mean the juice has not been allowed enough time to meld together. That's what we mean by the term steeping. Tobaccos, custards, and to a lesser extent creams need time to taste good. Fruits are usually good within a week, but not all. Patience is key with mixing. Tedious but necessary.
I'm a ma'am by the way.:)

Im happy 2 kill cotton 4 a good juice. I take it you take the time to test each flav individually to know exactly how it is and get a baseline on flav strength. That takes time. Gotta respect that.
I mean I’m not researching the the time space continuum or anything but I definitely try and take a little time finding out the best concentrates for the flavors I want. For instance honey, I ordered FLV milk and honey and VTA honeycomb. By taking a little time I didn’t have to go through the horror show that is TFa honey. I usually ask @wildgypsy70 she knows her flavors. I start by looking at BCF and then if something piques my interest I check ELR notes and atf notes. If the general consensus between the 3 is to stay away I do. If it is good then I’m buying. If it is mediocre I might take a shot. Even a mediocre concentrate has its uses.

Thank you Ma´ám and I´m sorry. I just returned from mixing so I forgot some aspects of mixing and this is not a good sign for me since I´m diyng all the way to save money. Instead of saving I might be wasting every cent of my ingredients thank you!

Im happy spending the $ to have a good base. When i was drinking i kept a stocked bar(that was pricey in itself). But i also was a bartender so it just made sense. Now that i am sober diy vaping has taken its place. And doesnt land me in handcuffs or hospital beds. Lol

Just another reason why i love vu. It has a good # of knowledgeable mixers that are always happy to share what they know.

don't think of it as a waste. if you learn from your mistakes, they may have cost you money, but the knowledge you gain will be invaluable in time. I have a grocery bag full of 10ml samples I don't vape because I was learning. stick close to here, not the FB groups, trust me on that. i mostly go on those to get a laugh. You will hear a lot of stuff that is based in opinion, not experience. I've gained more knowledge here on VU than anywhere else.

You aren't wasteing you're learning. Don’t throw out any juice you mix, try it again every week or two. Stick with small batches and pick some recipes that are good in 3 days to keep you going while the others steep.

I will definitely do this and I honestly prefer knowledge by experience. Thank you for reminding what part of me is missing in this kind of matter! This means alot to me! But for now I need to save some money for more stuff and restock asap :)

Thank you again ma´am. I have some very old mixes that I think failed I´ve given up early on them. But I might try to taste them later. What notes/app do you recommend to keep my formulas intact. I find it hard where to store them.

Ask around here before you buy. People will help you pick out the best flavors for what you are going for. I just tried some 10ml samples I’ve had In a box for a Month and they were okay after a week now after a month I have like 5 recipes I will be making. Again and letting sit because holy crap they are good.

I use E-Liquid Recipes. The have a good beginners tips forums for using the tools they offer. You can enter your flavors in a flavor stash. Be sure to check the make public option. Then we can take a look and help you better. I find their calculator easy to use and keep allyour recipes there. After you enter your flavors in your stash you can use the :what can I make" tool.

I feel envy! I just lack budget but I will definitely make more, I´ll gain more knowledge and be wise about picking flavors. One another problem is that not all flavors here in the PH are available like in your country like INW, they don´t have all the flavors, I´m not saying I need em all but just a case that might happen. Learning will be the foundation to do some ways to make and recreate tho. Thank you once again.

Worldwide shipping and an amazing selection of flavors. All boxes are labeled as food flavoring so If importing vaping stuff is a problem in your country you wouldn’t have to worry. They have sales quite often. Being on a budget isn’t a bad thing. I should set one instead of spending like a madman.

A simple recipe I make for my brother who loves Cinnamon Toast Crunch. He use to chew tobacco so I have to up the % just a touch.
He is a MTL'er The Capella CS gives it a slight coating of sugar.

Recipe 50/50 (pg/vg)
Flavorah Cinnamon Toast Crunch 2.75%
Flavorah Milk & Honey 1.5%
Capella Silverline Cinnamon Sugar 1%
This is for MTL

artemis posted one up there, I have yet to make one. I made a cotton candy recipe yesterday for a guy that buys juice off me. I am actually really digging it. I did this

RF SC Blue Raz - 2%
FLV Cotton Candy - 1.5%
PUR Cotton Candy - 2.5%
PUR Super Sweet - .5%

it taste a lot like a cotton candy dum dum pop

I also made a blueberry cake donut, a strawberry jam donut and caramel pear (all steeping)

Had the urge to use some of my Donkey Butter and kept adding flavors until I came out with this finally. A few more ingredients than what I’m used to using lately, but it actually turned out pretty good and will probably get better with time.

I've just started with the diy stuff. So far it's mediocre, still getting used to everything. Only made a few 10ml batches, a caramel apple, a banana cream and cotton candy. At least I haven't tossed anything down the drain yet so that's a success in my book. I've definitely bought stuff that tasted a lot worse. Running into the same issue a lot of diy people seem to, it's lacking mouth feel. Like the difference between tea and coffee, both made with water but coffee is definitely thicker while tea is more watery. Maybe it's the lack of sweetener but then I've had juice from companies who claim not to use sweetener and still have a richer denser mouth feel.

Just threw together some banana and ice cream, shooting for a mild creamy banana ice cream. A 15ml test batch, 3mg 75/25.
LA banana cream (colorless) 4%
CAP vbic 6%
TPA cheesecake graham crust 1.5%
CAP marshmallow 2%
CAP buttercream 1%
A drop of TPA banana ripe and a drop of mts vape wizard.

Maybe it's for lack of steeping long enough, the couple I tried seemed to have a little bite to them. Not quite peppery, not a harsh throat hit. Just a slight bite on the tongue. Not sure if steeping will smooth it out or if it's sketchy nic. Using the 'pur nic' that came with the nic river diy kit. Would've opted for the chemnovatic (maybe next time) but the kit didn't offer it. Hoping the marshmallow and mts give it a slight thicker mouth feel I'm looking for, I didn't use mts in the other couple test batches.

KennyOwhere's Strawnana Custard uses this flavor and I couldn't get into it. I remember making it about the same time as Pebbles and thought they both sucked lol. They're both highly rated on ELR.

I think you'd like WF Banana Pureé and VT Banana Custard. They're much better bananas IMO. Hangsen is good too.

This is the answer. All 3 of those are good and TFa banana cream is better than La. I have 2 LA concentrates I like. Cream cheese icing and Bavarian cream.

Don’t use the vape wizard. It doesn’t do just mouthfeel. It blenderizes your entire recipe. Try it without it I bet you will get a better vape taste wise and mouthfeel wise. Creams can help a lot with body. Steeping helps a lot too.

I think steeping will help you out. Let it sit for a week and see how it goes. The ice cream needs a bit to thicken up. But.....there are some people that taste pepper with Caps VBIC. Not as many as do with TFA, but they do exist. If you find that you do, there are quite a few other VBIC’s out there you can try. LB is my favorite right now.

I’ve only used LA Banana Cream in one recipe and it was fine, but @88ArDeN88 is right about TFA being better.

Believe it or not, I don’t have 2 flavors in this recipe! TFA Banana Ripe and vape wizard. I’ve never found the need for wizard....I just usually use a cream of some ilk(TFA Bavarian Cream and Vanilla Swirl are staples).

And there’s nothing wrong with adding sweetener! Some recipes really need it....they “pop” with sweetener.

I'll have to keep it in mind about the banana cream. It's not been too bad so far, only one banana juice I've liked and that's wrecking ball from vapewild. All the other bananas I've tried taste like rotten bananas in soiled undies or bad feet. Or like shitty runts (which is great if you like runts). I tried a couple banana flavors, bananas foster and something else from verde valley vapes that was just rotten burnt banana. That banana ripe from TFA is no joke, a little goes a loooong way.

As far as the sort of bitey mouthfeel I was getting off the others I tried, neither was a cream or had vbic or mts in it. One was FA fuji apple mainly with a little CAP double apple, just a little FA apple stark and Purilum creamy caramel. The other was around 8% flavoring total, using the LA banana cream, a little banana ripe and some FA fresh cream. Only around 1% of the fresh cream though. Some suggested that vape wizard might improve the mouthfeel so I was giving it a go and see what happens. I do have some CAP super sweet but have been trying recipes without it before I go over-sweetening everything.

Banana is tough. Always touch and go. WF Banana purée def fits in many recipes....not candyish, nice, ripe banana. I’ve never had it go burnt or weird on me.

Mts vape wiz is good with tobaccos or if you are looking to relieve a little harshness but in your applications I definitely wouldn’t use it. 1% FA cream fresh is a pretty strong cream flavor. FA is pretty strong with creams especially. 1% is usually a full bodied cream. I’d try like 0.5% super sweet see if that works. Honestly steeping will do it. I just tested some of my sample mixes I made a month ago and damn did they get good.

Found my BTFC RDA that I had lost a long while back and given up on finding, so, made a short and sweet juice for it
f7411007ea340f5547fd2496fda101f0.jpg

I don’t recall how I got tipped off about this RDA and haven’t heard anyone talk about it, but it’s great...Kennedy Airflow design (except the airflow is changeable) and top airflow controls as well with DEEP juice wells on each side

And this 30ml bottle was at full capacity with juice and it took this much liquid to completely soak the wicks

Sorry, I know it’s the flavor thread, but I’m just over here doing my happy dance from finding it and had to share.

Took the advice that some have given in diy circles to make a sort of shake and vape, something to hold over while creamier juices are steeping. Fruits seem to be popular so I thought apple. Just a simple apple, but a little kiwi in it might be good. FA's kiwi was a bit strong, chose FW's kiwi. Then got the bright idea to try a little INW cactus because it's said to make fruits more vibrant. Oh it made something more vibrant. I only used 0.5% and yowza. Not sure what that flavor is but it's familiar.

So the initial apple/kiwi was 30ml, added another 30ml to it with just extra apple to raise my total apple from 3% to 4%, dropped the kiwi a little balance it out and wash the cactus down to .25%. I've got something resembling milk lmao. I mean yea I've been shaking it but usually any bubbles disappear in short order. Anyway thought everyone would enjoy a good laugh.
