Is anybody enjoying the Themis mesh version?

I thought I'd make a thread about the Themis mesh deck version. I'm sure some of you have one. Maybe we could bounce ideas around. How do you like it? Have you had trouble? Did ya get it performing at a high level?

I've had mine a long time. I used the KA1 mesh that was provided. I watched the DsLbJ video where he suggests using half of onevof the provided strips. So I did that and wicked it at a novice level. It vaped okay not good or great. I couldn't use it over 50W. Actually 42-45W was about the sweet spot. After a while I started getting burnt hits. Burnt hits, not dry hits. Hot mesh hits aren't fun.

I tried another way of doing the mesh. The first time I uaed it rounded. The second time I pressed down on the mesh like borat did in his video review. The vape sucked. I didn't persist and parked it.

Around Black Friday I got a roll of Vandy Vape Kanthal Mesh. I didn't use it until tonight. The Profile has gained in popularity and with it a lot of tips and techniques. With that in mind I decided to give the Themis a go. The VV mesh is a little too wide so I had to shave off a little the long way. Lengthwise I used more than what I used before. I used an old strip to measure and made it a couple of mm longer. I clamped both sides in place and got a 6mm id Wotofo laced strip. Before I was leaving one side unclamped. This time I just laced it strait through. I had to twist the cotton "rope" to compress it enough to fit through. It seemed perfect, nice and snug (like the profile suggestions.)

Once I got the mesh and cotton in place it was time to stuff the ends in the wicking ports. I did the 45° angle trick I've seen people do for the Profile. I also did a side haircut and a comb out. Those 6mm strands are pretty damn thick. After all the trimming the cotton fit nicely where it was supposed to.

The mesh is reading .18Ω and I have the Themis on a Wismec GEN3 Dual. I barely get anything at 45W compared to on the verge of maxing out with the provided digiflavor strips. 55W it starts tasting really good. 65W isn't as much of a jump as I thought it would be. Seems like I bumped it up 5W not 10. Again, 75W it seems like I barely turned it up. The whole time I'm getting awesome flavor but not much clouds. Did I dare go to 85W? Of course I did. Vape is getting warmer now that's a new development. Flavor is superb.

Another thing, I'm taking deep long drags with no worries. Before I was scared of breathing in mesh fire at 50W. I'm currently up to 4 volts and have it set at 88.8W. Did I say how fantastic the flavor is yet? I don't know if I want to push this higher. I'm getting a nice warm flavorful vape but the cloud production is very meager.

I can take some pictures tommorow if anyone cares to see. I highly recommend trying the Vandy mesh. It comes on a roll for fairly cheap IIRC. This stuff out peforms the sample strips that came with the tank. When it comes to mesh, I'm only interested in kanthal.

If you've had troubles, don't give up like I did. This RTA can work well with mesh. I know a lot of people might have said F it, and use it as a single coil deck. I hope some of you have some tips or tricks to share. There's got to be a reason why I'm blowing such thin clouds at damn near 90W. I know that was a lot to read so thank you for your patience. Prisma fun-

After thinking about it and re-evaluating, the clouds are ok where I'm at. I know screen mesh isnt fog machine material. So this is satisfactory at 88.8W. Coming up to this point the clouds were pretty thin. I'm happy that this tank is rockin' now. This RTA is doing very well tonight. It's surprising that I can take such long pulls. I'm so glad I got some different material. I'm also glad I read some of those Profile threads. Wicking mesh has to be done right.

I'm using this RTA with the VV316SS mesh and rayon wick in temp control. I did not have good results at all with cotton, but rayon gives me a wonderful vape. The wick has to be REALLY tight under the mesh coil, but substantially thinned out in the juice channels. I get a nice flavorful vape at 50-55 watts and 420*F. The SS mesh takes a fraction of the power to get to target temp compared to a traditional coil of the same resistance. Clouds are big but not compared to my Aromamizer V2. All in all, I'm very happy with the Themis Mesh.

Maybe the key to people that don’t like mesh rda’s and rta’s is they need to use rayon. That is what I use and I was very happy with the Themis as well as the digiflavor mesh pro and the Profile. I won the Themis mesh and used it for several months before I started Squonking. Since I started squonking and using rda’s I stopped using all my rta’s, including the Themis. Then I stopped using all but one of my coil rda’s in lieu of my Profiles and DMP. The one coil rda I use is the gasmods gr-1 for testing my diy creations. Mesh just heats fast and the surface area gives great flavor. Couple that with the ease of building (no longer having to thread the coils) and Ive found vape happiness.

I like my Themis mesh. It can be a bit finicky to wick, but when I get it right, its very nice.

I like using mesh and I hope any new RTA’s adopt the Profiles spring loaded center post. It really helps avoid the mesh death dry hit.

I just did a rebuild last night on my Themis Mesh. Have to admit it's a bit of a pain in the ass to pack enough rayon beneath the mesh, and get the mesh clamped down. But man, once you get it set, thin the tails out and place them in the juice channels and get it primed and going... what amazing defined flavor. I just ordered a bunch of squonk hardware, and got two Profiles because I like the mesh experience that much.

I had a similar experience. Won a mesh Themis in a giveaway and was so impressed by mesh I got a digiflavor mesh pro, Profile, and Eleaf Squeeze 2. Now I only use the Squonk mods and I run 2 non squonkers with drop-in coil tanks just because they’re easy. Haven’t used the Themis since, in fact I don’t use any rta’s because rda’s are just so much easier to build. No worries of too much or too little wicking causing problems.

It's more of a pain getting the mesh around the wick than the actual wicking. The airflow guides on each side of the deck make it a narrow area to work in to get the mesh into the clamp. Not an easy task for someone like me with shitty eyes and meathooks for hands.

I clamp down one side of the mesh, lay my rayon down, pull the tails towards the clamped side, then clamp down the other side of mesh. That seems to work the best (for me) getting the mesh tight around the wick.

Yes that's what I do.

I have a Themis. Wicked it once w/ rayon and it sagged in a heartbeat. So, I decided I need springy cotton (Muji pads on order). However, I'm sticking my two cents in because of the build. The Themis looks like it could be the brother of the OBS Engine II RTA and I'll swear they come out of the same factory. The Engine is a disappointment to me. A cold running atty that seems to overshoot on temp in TC mode. I'm hoping the Themis does better.

I wick the rayon quite tight in the mesh. 3 strips of rayon stacked. Then I trim and thin it out into the juice flows.
