People are switching from box mods to pod devices now because of all the nic salt eliquids.

Every RBA, RTA, and prebuilt tank you can imagine. A good pod system satisfies far more in such a minimalist fashion.

I do get it about some pod mods. (Love some, hate others, indifferent about many.)
I'm not crazy about the salts, and I've been vaping a long time now.
To answer your original question: I'm not sure what techniques there are for pod mods. They are what they are.
Not like you're going to build coils.
And where to go to talk about them: you've just begun it. Keep starting threads and people will chime in.

Upgrading? Or just switching to something that suits you better?

Yep an upgrade if coming from a CE4.
I have a couple of the early I stick Basic pod system. Not bad sure beat a ce4 or T2.

Here in this section I guess Rhyno is the answer to the question of where to discuss...cartos, pods, cigalikes, all the same to me

When you say techniques what do you mean?

POD Systems serve their purpose, but aren't for me. I tried them and would rather use my iStick TC40W and a Nautilus Mini Tank. But that is just my opinion and if it works for you Vape On Safely. Good Luck

I like pod systems and they have their place, but don't think I could switch over to them exclusively. I do like to carry them when running errands or need something more discreet. Could be a good catch all thread, kinda like the "Squonkers are Bonkers" thread, maybe a catchier name like "Pod People", "Invasion of the Pod People", something like that, just spitballin'

I just bought a Nord ..
Previously tried and have the following comments on these two
  • Breeze2 - my first pod, its nice and compact and coils were relatively easy to switch out; even when you still got juice in. Drawback for me was removing the tip to change the coils, it’s pretty tight.
  • Zero - real nice and has good weight. Draw is flavorful (ceramic coil) and even tank only holds 2ml, it lasts a decent amount. Draw back is buying and storing the replacement pods. Vaporesso/Renovation has been promoting this hard for a long time. I’d prefer this over the Breeze2 simple because of the compactness then flavor.
  • I also tried a few others that are probably not worth mentioning since they suck, are impractical, and most of died off. An example would be the Ripple.

Isn't there some controversy over using ceramic coils?

I remember reading something awhile back, but I forget what it was about exactly, other than it wasn't positive .

As the Cromwell put it, it was the issue about particles going airborne.. but since the initial concerns ceramic is still in the market and being utilized by a few companies. I couldnt find any latest concerns other than when it first hit the market and the concerns surfaced.
I guess it since been proven to be a lesser matter? .. *shrug*

Anyhow this is the latest article i found dated 10-2018 about Wick vs Quartz vs Ceramic Pens..
http://www.greentanktech.com/news/quartz-vs-ceramic-best-coil-vape-pens/

it doesnt not mention any negatives towards ceramic.. and i didnt even know quartz was in the picture..
if anyone has the latest 411 on ceramic.. please let me know!

Thanks but that looks like a 2016 article and true Uwell hasnt used Ceramic in there current line up that I'm aware of, but others have.
Here is a 2018 article that address that Uwell report so ultimately this hasnt been proven and use at your own risk. like the ejuice you use could be laced with something dangerous... *shrug*
