Hello, everyone!

The Mixing Challenge is coming!

We are in search of an impartial judge for this challenge. You do not need to be a DIY mixer to be a judge.

You are ineligible for this if.....you are on a team or you are a prize sponsor.

Sign up in the DIY General Discussion forum by February 27th. The judge will be randomly chosen and will receive details of the challenge afterward.

Why not?

Well, if it becomes a huge challenge, We might consider two judges, but I think one is fine for our first foray into mixing challenges.

I mean, I don't have the experience needed for something like this.

oh, and how about this for a rule = they can only use the flavors that "I" have, :vino:

Wow..I'm not sure I see the point.....what people like in an e-juice are as different and varied as there are vapers...one of the reasons I started DIY is I got tired of throwing money away on e-juice everyone thought was great and I thought was absolute shit.

ok. I know the team has already thought this out. I'm going to ask anyways.

If cost is the only detriment, I'm sure the community and team could figure out something that would be easy to do. I know I would support shipping and would be a small cost per donation.

My first thought on 1 judge is, we're dealing with vaping, vaping with diff atomizers, tasting, > subjectivity. 3 judges (odd number tie breaker) seem to me to be ideal.

But what about 3 people picking 3 flavors? 3 judges could communicate with each other on their thoughts, with one being a lead judge and making the final decision. Could be that each judge just lists their top 1, 2, or 3 [PM] and the lead judge makes the call.

And btw do not consider me as a juice judge I have very strange taste buds.
And allergic reactions to most flavorings used in vaping.

However if we ever have a hypoallergenic juice contest, count me in.

I don't think I have even visited the DIY Juice thread, but this community-initiated event intrigues me.
It's like the community is generating it's own "content" instead of just commenting on vaping issues generated elsewhere.

Tell ya what........
Pick 3 judges, send me all of the liquid that is to be judged, and I'll sponsor (well, pay for) the shipping to each of the 3 judges.

I don't want to be a judge, I'm just digging the concept and want to assist if I can.

I would love to be a sort of backup judge = get to try some new stuff. but if that happened, the contestants would be turning into manufacturers. and idk about that.

Believe me, it wasn’t easy at the start. I bought a bunch(like 50 that just sounded great) of flavors, some premix pg/vg/nic and went at it. No research, no single flavor testing. Made some pretty awful juice for a few months. And then I gave up for a year. I just figured I sucked at it and went back to commercial juice. Put my flavors away and just assumed I’d find a use for them somehow. And then I found VU. I started getting interested in mixing again, but I was scared of investing more money in an already failed attempt. I’m not sure when the balance shifted but one day, it did. I mixed something that I actually liked. Something that was actually better than the commercial juice I was using. That was it for me. I knew I could do it, even if I never personally created a recipe on my own. That took some time, as well. It’s a commitment. Now, it’s like cooking for me. A creative outlet with successes and failures. Don’t give up yet!

oh, I'm sure. especially without the help of VU. me, I'm not giving up, just because you don't see me around, doesn't mean I am not here.
sometimes I just don't feel like typing. I am trying out single flavors now.
