The IPV V-IT was sent to me by pioneer 4 you for the purpose of this review. The following is simply an account of my experience with this mod/tank combo over the last few weeks.
The mod measures: 92.5mm(3.64in) high, 48.3mm(1.90 in) wide, 35.9mm (1.41in) in depth and weighs in at 136grams.
The mod fires up to 200w, 120j and 572 degrees F; and, stable from 0.05-3.00 ohms
I have seen it for sale as a combo or mod-only.
The V-IT is powered by the SX540chip; which, is a fantastic board. Despite popular belief it is not the same board that is in the g-class; although functionally similar. It is firmware upgradeable, has a 1.4 in color screen, two onboard fonts, several wallpapers, balance charging, preheat modes (soft, standard, powerful, powerful plus and sxIQ), can also use either bypass or temp control and is stable down to a 0.05ohm, build. The mod has all protections we have come to expect from a regulated device.
The tank and mod come in two different boxes. I have not had a pioneer 4 you product in quite a few years; and, the packaging was a happy indication of how far the company has come since the days of the IPV mini. It was a very nicely done box, and included a charge cord, user manual, as well as 2 peel and stick battery door protectors. The finish on the mod is a rubbery vinyl feel. The top of the mod is zinc alloy and body is plastic and encased in what appears to be a wrap. It is nicely done and quite attractive giving it the appearance of resin or stab-wood from afar, yet a wrap nonetheless. Not only do you have the vinyl texture but also what I would describe as veins in the wrap.
The 510 is spring loaded, without a flathead slot(yay), and center mounted, allowing you to use atomizers up to a 34mm diameter without overhang.
In the hand the mod feels very nice, ergonomically… it just fits in the hand. I have not experienced any button rattle on either of the mods that I have received. The battery door is spring loaded with a “clicky” action and minimal door wiggle when open.
The mod is very light for its size; but, feels well put together. Overall, I was impressed with the construction. The one draw back some have mentioned about the construction is the screen cover assembly being held on with silver screws. This did not bother me as many of the early homemade dna200 mods had that similar appearance. This is certainly an upgrade from previous p4u products. I also like that the charger is placed on the bottom below the adjustment and mode buttons. Mrs B1rd commented that she felt the mod was tall, it is only one mm taller than the paranormal; which has been my daily driver for some time. I think the narrowness of the mod makes the height stand out, but also is what makes it so ergonomic with its rounded sides. I did try the sxiq software but it would not recognize this mod. It is my understanding that this will be coming in the future.
The Board itself is very intuitive once you start walking through it. You can hold the + and – together to enter novice mode and use it as a standard wattage mode mod; a feature I find useful for some like Mrs B1rd, who does not use TC. It is worth mentioning that novice mode does cancel out the power ramp up and fires in standard mode only. When not in novice mode the metal you’ve selected is always displayed, even in wattage only mode. If you hold down the – and select button you enter bypass mode. The mod also has 5 memory positions which you can program for different atomizers. This can be quite convenient if you swap toppers frequently. In a nutshell this mod is setup to appeal to those of us that want any and all features possible to those that want as little as possible. It really is designed to appeal to most people that use regulated devices.
I find the fire button to be quite clicky; whereas the selection buttons are mushy. The battery door latch is quite firm lending itself to feel especially sturdy and contributing to the complete lack of battery rattle and feeling of sturdiness.
As to the firing of the mod, it does have ever so slight of a firing delay, but nothing of any concern at all. Ive come to appreciate the way the yihi boards fire, as they are certainly one of the better modder boards available; and, this is no different. When holding the mod, I find my thumb landing on the fire button, which has made it quite a treat to use; as, I normally use my index finger.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoy this mod and have found myself reaching for it at times that I would normally want my dna box. The temp control feels a bit high, but without additional equipment I cant verify that. It just feels to be a bit more of an aggressive vape than the evolve mods, which has been a nice change of pace. On the downside with that slightly more aggressive vape I have noticed the batteries seem to have a little bit less run time than I am accustomed to with the same settings on other mods, nothing major; but, worth noting.
At its target price point the board, 510 and fact that it will fit up to a 34mm atty make this mod a bargain.
Pros:
Yihi board
510
Battery door
Ergonomics
The way it fires
Can be used as a straight wattage device, bypass, or temp control
Textured finish
Cons
The wrap
Silver screws if that is bothersome for you
Very light
Slightly less run time
Overall, I would feel comfortable recommending this mod to people looking for a dual battery mod that uses either tc or power mode; and wants something tech oriented that can be used around the house or on the go.
It’s also a great compliment for someone looking for a no frills power mod, since all of the tech can shit down to a minimum.
Additionally, someone can use it as power mod without the frills and incorporate the tech after they are comfortable with it.
